Zander nodded. "Roughly a thousand years to be exact," he admitted, rubbing the back of his neck. "I was born... Will be born... Or maybe I won't be born... in the year 2997, in the mountains of Turkey, where the Hidden City is."

Elmira's eyes widened at that. "Wow." she exclaimed. "That's...amazing. How are you not freaking out right now? I freak out when I accidentally put myself just a handful of years into the past!"

Zander shrugged. "To be honest, my people put ourselves in a sort of technological stasis from around the time of the 21st Century onward, and only slowly adapted new things. So These will seem even more familiar to me than even things in my own time."
He thrust his hands in his pockets and looked around. "Always wanted to get out and see the world, y'know? I mean, I can do it when I meditate sometimes. Clairvoyance and all that jazz. But it's not the same as actually going out and stuff."

Elmira smiled a bit. "I don't get to go out and about that much either. I've gotten to do it a little more since I've made friends with some of the other heroes. They take me into the city sometimes. But other than that....I've been pretty confined to the house, school, or Elkwood. If I go anywhere, I have to sneak myself out or have someone help me with it."

Zander grinned. "Couldn't sneak around in the Hidden City. Well, you could, but you'd get caught. Damn ward spells..." he said as he started to stroll leisurely toward the door. "Speaking of which, what say we snoop around and get in trouble? Always pretty fun."

Elmira paused for a moment in though. Her initial reaction was to go up and hug him, then drag him through the hall to see what all they could get into. But...she had to think about things first. She didn't have Sally here to scope things out for her first. CC wasn't here...though he would probably show her every rout there was to get into trouble. Sandra wasn't here...Luke...Alex...Misty... no one. Just her and the two down the hall. ......... Although...she was better with her powers now..... With a small grin, that was clearly trying to hide a much wider, full blown smile, Elmira stepped towards him. "Well...I'm not one to get into trouble she began, a playful grin still on her face. "But I could use a distraction from the whole "I have no idea where I am or how to get back" bit"

"Ah!" Zander said, a grin on his face. "A distraction, yes?" he asked, and he briefly flicked his hands. There was a small puff of smoke and a deck of cards appeared in his hands and he shuffled the deck expertly, still with that grin on his face; he wasn't even looking at the deck, rather at Elmira, with one foot already out the door and into the hall.
He tossed one card up into the air, and it morphed into a bird which twittered and flew around the room. He tossed up another, and it turned into a brief, mostly-quiet fireworks display. Then a third which turned into a magician's wand and top hat. Zander smoothly caught the two items, his deck of cards now floating idly in the air near him, and turned his outfit into a tuxedo.
"I'm good with distractions. Wouldn't be a good magician if I wasn't, right?" he asked, twirling his wand between his fingers like a baton as he moved out into the hallway; sauntered, really.

Elmira watched Zander show off with wide, clearly interested eyes. Normally it was a turn off when people tried to show off...but she never could get used to magic or powers or anything of the sort. It was fascinating. He was fascinating. With a smile, and her bouquet of flowers in hand, she followed him out of the room and through the hall. "Well...you're certainly a talented one."

"Oh, don't I know it." Zander said, tucking his wand under his arm and retrieving his floating card deck, shuffling it idly again. "Granted, the Zataras have always been exceptionally talented sorcerers and magicians. I'm just the latest, and hopefully the greatest as far as my peers and elders see me. At least until the next generation... But anyway... So tell me about these other sorcerers you mentioned. Edel, Sandra, and Tony right?" he asked as he moved on though the hall, trying to sense possible mischief to get into. "What's a pretty girl like yourself got to say about 'em?"

"Hm?" she asked. Right, the other magic users she said she knew of. Well, what all could she tell him about- Then she heard the words "pretty girl like yourself" come out of Zander, and she practically froze in her steps. She stared at him a moment with wide eyes...as though he had just tossed some sailor slang at her. It was fairly clear from her expression that no one had ever used an adjective like that on her before. "I-I-I....uh..." she began. Suddenly she found herself with a rather derailed train of though. What were they talking about again?

Zander turned back and looked to Elmira with a curious look in his eyes. He stopped shuffling the cards and they disappeared in a puff of smoke.
His eyes narrowed a bit in thought. "You alright, Elmira?" he asked. "You look spooked. I'm not freaking you out already, am I?"

"I....yeah, no, I'm alright. It's not you, it's just...." she began, then blushed again. Much deeper this time. "I....no ones....ever called me...pretty before. I'm...heh...I'm not used to hearing it I guess. I was far from being the pretty one in school. My skin pretty much explodes with freckles when I'm outside...my hair's too bright of an orange...my... she began, then cleared her throat and looked away. "Nevermind. It's nothing. Really. You just caught me off guard, that's all...." she said.

Zander pursed his lips thoughtfully, his green eyes looking intently into Elmira's, and then he got an idea.
"You look fine to me, but... Maybe we can do something about that, at least for a few minutes," he said softly, just loud enough for her to hear. He pointed his magician's wand at her and said: "Ecnaraeppa ruoy evorpmi!"
A light shot out of the end of the wand and swirled around Elmira, clearing up her freckles and giving her some makeup on her face, deepening the shade of her hair into beautiful dark red, and putting her in a pretty yellow dress that went down to her ankles, and three-inch heels. That done, Zander summoned a mirror for Elmira to look at herself in.
"What do you think, El? You mind if I call you that?"

Elmira stared at her reflection for a long moment or two before replying. Honestly she wasn't able to say anything for that long. Her hair was...it looked more like her mother's hair now. That beautiful red she envied, but had to settle with her father's lighter genetics. Her freckles were gone...they didn't usually clear up until winter when she was confined to being indoors. Even then they didn't clear up like this... "I... n-no...people usually call me Elm. El is fine. And...I...I really don't know what to say...my body just kind of absorbs the sun. I can't remember a time I didn't have freckles or sun bleached hair." she replied, looking back at him.

"If you want, I can probably cast a spell on you that keeps that from happening. A sort of mystic shield, if you will. Not totally sure how long that sort of thing would last, since I've never really done that kind of thing before, but..."
Zander aimed the wand at her again and sent another spell her way, putting a protective charm for her skin and hair.
"Now..." He said, looking her over himself. "You're not pretty. Right now, I'd say you're beautiful."
Smooth, Zandy-Boy... he thought to himself. Seriously, I could've said something cooler... But she is beautiful like this... Gah, what am I saying? I just met the girl. Oh well...
