Well, take refuge in the fact that you aren't alone. For a Jew, I eat an awful lot of Ham and Cheese Sandwiches, and the only way you can make that more unkosher is by adding shrimp.

Okay, they say not to eat beef because Krishna (god's incarnation) befriended them, thus making them sacred.
So wouldn't it be an insult for them to have been slaughtered and for me to not eat it?

That's one thing I don't get. If you dont' want to kill beef, becouse it's sacred, or any meat because you're vegetarian, just don't open a slaughterhouse... The animal is still dead, and not allowing it to fulfill it's final purpose seems like an insult to it's memory to me.

Some sort of symbolism to it, I guess. And, let's not forget making an oath on your hammer, as well. And roasting boars seems to be a pretty big thing, as well. ^^;;
