Querl was already seated at the cafeteria, a brand-new notebook in hand, taking notes furiously as soon as he saw Chris Powell and Cassie Sandsmark enter.
Mating rituals of the early twenty-first century metahuman! It was history unveiling itself before his eyes! This was soooo much more fascinating than the lectures from Dr. Richards or Dr. Pym. Querl already knew everything they were teaching backwards and forwards. But this...THIS was new. Why did Powell choose Cassie to engage in mating rituals with? What anthropological data could he glean from observing Powell's interactions with her? Querl leaned forward to try to listen in to their conversation.

*Chris peered at old cafeteria pizza while explaining why Querl Dox drove him nuts.*
...and he just stares at me! Like, for hours! And then when I go to play on the PS3 or something, he starts scribbling furiously into this notebook.
*Chris bypassed the old pizza in search of an alternative.*
And the insults! I'm not sure he even knows my name is not "primitive ape lad" or "cumquat for brains." I don't what a cumquat is but is sounds pervy and gross.
Ooo...chicken tenders.
*Chris grabbed some tenders with dipping sauce.*
I was totally distracted by seeing him talking to you and Dani at the game. Guy drives me bonkers.

Cassie shrugged..
"Well, actually Querl seems pretty nice. A little strange... but nice none the less. He's probably a whiz at science or math... two things that I can't say I'm great in."
Cassie's subjects was history and government. Everyone knew t too. But when it came to math and science Cassie had to study really hard and barely manage to get B's. She then noticed she had a text... it was from Wally. Keeping Chris distracted sounded easy enough. She smiled at Chris sweetly.
" You know forget Querl. Later on tonight I got a dinner planned just the two of us. So don't fill up. Okay?"

"That's one things your pretty bad at." Dani stood across from Querl chuckling a little. A Spy he was not, he made it far too obvious. "It's easer if you sit with them. Don't forget, conversation is a better then observation."
She walks away nodding over her shoulder to him. He was far too smart for his own good. It would do him well to be a little more social.
"Let's go, Brainy. Free seat here."
Sitting with Cassie and Chris. She smiles at him.
"Hope you guys don't mind, he looked a little lonely.. and no one should eat alone."
Eyeing Chris's chicken tenders...
"Ohh Chicken!"
She eat's some as she was a little hungry.
"Gosh... You may need some more there Chris... Hehe." She always liked to share other peoples food... it was a bad habit, but It would get Chris to scat while she talked with Cassie about the party.
"Don't forget the dipping sauce."

*Chris's jaw dropped as Dani snagged his food.*
Wha...why...my...GAH!
*He snatched up his plate and headed back to the kitchen area. First, she drags his condescending roommate over and then she steals his chicken. YOU DON'T STEAL A MAN'S TENDERS!*

Once Chris was away, Dani quickly turned to Cassie.
"Alrighty Cassie, Chris's birthday is two days away. I know Wally's fast, but this has to be epic. He Booked Zinda's right?"
She whispered to her, then Glanced at Querl.
"Querl, it's a secret so don't tell anyone. Not Chris not Karan, she's got a big mouth, And don't tell Achilles either... he's got that brotherly code of honor thing that stops him from lieing. So No telling. Anyone!"

"Don't tell me what?"
Achilles said, having heard his name mentioned, he approached the cafeteria table holding a tray -- with a rack of beef on it. He eyed Dani suspiciously.
"And what would I need lie about?"

Cassie sighed. Seriously if Dani wanted to talk to her about Chris's birthday all she needed to do was pull her aside into the girls room. Of course the girls restroom was like the melting pot of rumors so it probably would've been better to text Cassie or see her in room later. Then Achilles showed up and Cassie smiled.
"Well Dani?"
Cassie lifted up an eyebrow towards her best friend. Danielle knew that Cassie would have a hard time keeping anything from her big brother.

*There...he was tendered up. Some nice dipping sauces and he was good to go. Achilles had joined the group and Chris sat between him and Cassie.*
Hi, Achilles. Whatcha talking about?
*Chris dipped a tender in Spicy Asian Chili sauce and lifted it towards his mouth. Dani leaned forward, swiped the Spicy Asian Chili tender, and all the others he had.*
Wha...why...my...again with the...GAH!
*Chris stood up and glared at Dani.*
STOP STEALING ALL MY FOOD!!!
*He stalked off towards the kitchen again.*

"Blah! That was Hot!!" She swiped someones drink to cool off her mouth quickly. Once she could feel her tongue again she started talking quickly.
"Alright! Fine!" She hissed! Damn the whole school would know by night fall at this rate! "No offence, Chris is kinda like a brother to you. You too share a lot... "
She looked behind her to see if Chris was close by, he was still choosing his sauce. Okay good!
"Achillies. We are throwing Chris a surprise birthday party in two days at Zinda's. But Don't tell Chris or Karen. It's his birthday and she'll find a way to ruin it. even if she didn't mean too."
She looks at the group.
"Deal?"

Achilles just stared at Dani. No, he didn't stare. He stared. The first thing that ran through his mind was, why would someone want to keep a birthday party secret from the person for whom the party was for? There were still so many customs about this time that he felt he would never understand.
He shrugged.
"Fine."
And he surprisingly walked past the table where his friends were and sat down at an entirely different one and started to eat.

Cassie's eyes went wide as she saw Achilles leave the table... He was clearly upset with Dani though Cassie was pretty sure that her friend didn't mean to upset or insult her brother.
"I'll go talk to him."
Cassie then grabbed a Dr.Pepper and went over to Achilles and set down right next to him.
"Achilles... Is everything okay?"

"I'm fine."
he answered simply in a hushed whisper as he subconsciously stabbed a fork into the huge side of beef on the tray and tore off a piece that could choke a bear. He held it upright in front of him and breathed deeply through his nose before turning to his sister.
"I just don't believe I'll make for very good company. I have quite a bit on my mind with the end of the school year approaching."
He forced an unconvincing smile to Cassandra.
"Go on back to our friends. I am not angry with any of them."

Cassie sighs..
" Very well then... but you know if there's anything you ever need to talk about I'm here for you."
The blonde cheerleader then hugged her older brother.
" You're my big brother... and I love you."
She gave him a kiss on the cheek and then headed back to the table where the others were.
