Kaosu frowned, thinking of his next move. Okay, so I guess I can't be flaky. Waiting for the sword to come, he flicked his head to the side barely, letting it whiz by.
Then he pushed up at Rei's outstretched arm with his left arm, and with his right he took a slice at Rei's gut.

((Yay! I'm back! Since my IC powernap, I haven't been able to locate any of my partner's, Tsujimura Nobuo, posts, and the "Find Posts" buttons thingy in his profile isn't working, I'm just going to wake up and check on him. Maybe I should also send him a PM telling him that I'm back... stare ))
Ethan soon awoke from his slumber to find the other students training. Some time had passed since his recent powernap, and Ethan was sure that his partner, Masura, had been healed of his injuries and now concious. Turning, he looked for hsi partner to see if he was ok.

Masaru was sitting upward with his legs crossed, his zanpakuto across his knees. His white keikogi was open, revealing his wrapped abdomen where the large wound from his last battle was. He was watching the other students sparring, trying to pick up certain sword techniques, since he'd gone into his first battle knowing absolutly nothing. But even though he lost horribly, he felt he held his own for a pretty long time before finally losing. His attention was drawn away from the spars to his partner, who he saw waking up.
"I think I'm good to start round two, now."
He patted the wrapped area of his body. He then grabbed his zanpakuto with his right hand and stood up, towering over the sitting Ethan. Still in the hilt, he placed the blade end on the ground and leaned his sword against his leg as he tucked his keigogi back into his hakama. He picked up the sword and slid it into his obi.

Not liking being ignored by Rei, Hikari scrunches her face and scowls at him. "Hmph." She kicks some dirt as she wanders back to where she was training, chomping on yet another fruit she's taken from Nagi's table. She sits down, crossing her legs, and laying her zanpakutou across her lap. She gets herself comfortable before picking up the book once more and opening it to the page she marked with a ribbon. The way she reads is almost flawlessly attuned to the book and the surroundings. The next parts she reads involves the many uses of reiatsu.
To this, her eyes go wide with delight and interest. She beams a smile as she reads the pages, carefully reviewing each word. It covers such a wide array of uses she doesn't know where to begin mentally noting. Some of the more interesting is the use of reiatsu pressure to sharpen one's zanpakutou, more quickly recover a broken zanpakutou, move faster than the eye can follow, and, most interestingly, in spells called kidou divided into hadou and bakudou. She lights up at the many prospects and begins delving into each one, individually.

As she reads, she twirls a finger in the air. She's practicing a more mundane exercise for reiatsu. She read about it earlier, but it just came to her now to try it. She, literally, focuses on trailing her finger with her reiatsu pulse. It's not too hard. It's nothing compared to the exercise she created or the reiatsu sphere. In fact, it's easy enough to split her concentration between it and reading with no ill effects. She still smiles as she goes through the pages of reiatsu usage.
What she reads first is on sharpening and repairing a zanpakutou with reiatsu pressure. This is something she's pretty sure she can try where she's at now, but she'd rather keep reading and see what it's useful for. This force called reiatsu is interesting. If intense enough, it seems capable of repelling attacks. If sharp enough, it can even cut other zanpakutou. There's a thought, one to exercise later. Maybe she can make sharpen her zanpakutou to help her slay hollow. She's not really thinking about using it against fellow shinigami, but that's one use mentioned in the book. Maybe there are instances of civil war like states? It doesn't concern her as she keeps reading.

Hikari continues twirling her finger in the air, chasing it with her reiatsu pulse, as she indulges herself in the literature Nagi 'accidentally' gave her. She notices how reiatsu can be used in a new art she hasn't experienced called hohou and one she has a strong distaste for called hakudo. She very carefully reads this section. She knows she has no style for hakudo, but she might find interest in this hohou. It's all very interesting. She doesn't like hakudo because of the prospect of not fighting with her zanpakutou, but it's still some interesting information. To be able to concert one's reiatsu pressure into unarmed combat for increased affect?
It's the hohou that most interests her. She first notes that training in these arts is concentrated on the feet, which would mean still having her zanpakutou in hand. They are also most oriented towards dodging strikes, which she immediately thinks will be most useful for surviving to deal a finishing blow to some nasty hollow. The reiatsu enhanced effect really draws her attention in. The ability to move faster than the eye can follow. She realizes, with reading, that she's probably not ready for this kind of technique. It's something, however, to strive for.

As she turns the pages to the discussions on kidou, Hikari stares, with a gleeful glint in her eyes, at the words on those pages. She stops twirling her finger in the air, hearing a sudden crack, like electricity, as her reiatsu pulse catches up and nearly singes her finger. It's like a backlash she read about in previous chapters, but she's more interested in what's written on the pages of this chapter than the minimal sensation of pain.
There are two types of kidou spells. The first type discussed are the bakudou, or binding demon arts. Hikari thinks on these for a moment. If she can stop or retard her opponents movements, she can do what Haro did to her in the last half of their second match and his whole two strikes of their third. She could give herself enough time to deal devastating, if not fatal, blows. She sees how much she needs that extra edge. The book quickly brings up and briefly describes some of the upper tier spells, and her eyes go wide in awe at the sheer power of even binding arts!

After the book goes over the upper tier spells, she's dissatisfied not to have the information she needs to know/learn those spells. She figures the technique is so far advanced it may require an entire book to describe. Satisfied with her own little answer, she continues to the lower tier spells. The only spells the book really delves into are numbered one through ten. The rest are briefly described for later reference, probably in future books. For now, she's happy to read over the first ten spells.
The most vividly described, surprise surprise, is Bakudo #1: Sai. Though the most basic bakudo there is, Hikari makes sure to read every last detail. It's a basic art for binding the arms. She thinks about the uses for this. She carefully reads this spell, not quite knowing if she can even use it yet, just so she can have it in her library of moves. If she doesn't know she can use the first one, she's fairly certain the rest of the first ten are out of her reach. Still. She wants to add each to her mental library.

Without anybody to practice on, Hikari can't rightly test if she can use the spells she's reading about. Instead, she goes over the descriptions and how reiatsu should flow. If she can get that right, she should be able to test it all later. She moves on to hadou, with expectant excitement. These are the attack spells, and she knows she can use these to advantage. The first thing she notices is how things start. There's the quick introduction and brief descriptions of the upper tier spells and only slightly more on anything above the number ten.
Though the most vividly described are the lowest numbers, especially one, it's actually Hadou #4: Byakurai that catches her attention. The simple reason is the exercise she was performing just before she got to the first of the kidou chapters. When she ended it, it felt like she was shocked by electricity as it cracked against her fingers. She nods. Her reiatsu is intense enough to give her that feeling, even slightly singing her fingers. She hopes she's nearing the ability to use this one!

Haro sighed as he sat down and he leaned up against a tree and he looked around as he waited still, Taro hadn't yet come out of the tent, and he wondered if he had been a little more hurt then Haro had first thought. He took a deep breath and he stood up, gripping his zanpaktou and he began to gently swing it around. He breathed heavily at first, trying to concentrate on his breathing as he swung it but after a while he didn't need to noise of the breath to concentrate on it and he was in sync as he swung it around and he continued to wait for Taro so he could finish the third round.

As she continues reading, she hopes to uncover a few secrets hidden in the various reiatsu arts. The title to this book says it all, 101 or basics. She has to sigh. Though full of intriguing information, it was quite easy to read and get through. She just wants to go through it again. In case she missed something. As she begins skimming the pages, she doesn't really notice any skipped nuances. The information is all interesting and full of insight on how to properly wield reiatsu pressure, especially in taming one's pulse. She looks at her zanpakutou. Maybe she'll be ready, soon, to sharpen her(their) edges with what she's learned. She also wants to try out some kidou, hopefully sooner rather than later.

((I think Taro mentioned his posting would be sparse because of summer school for the next week.))
As she closes the book, she takes another good look at the title. 'Reiatsu 101'. It really doesn't seem that harmful, in Hikari's view, to have just handed her the book as opposed to some subterfuge. With a sigh and a shrug, she decides to try that reiatsu sphere mass training once more. Closing her eyes, she begins concentrating. The first thing she does is feel out her reiatsu pressure and the pulse associated with it. As she carefully takes in and releases her breath, she concentrates on only that. At first, there's that loud roar in her ears. It's a sign of how much concentration pouring into it. Then she begins focusing it in the area above her right, outstretched palm. It's getting easier to do this, she notes, as her reiatsu begins whipping around and concerting.

She closes her eyes as the sphere begins to form. She wants to just concentrate on it and feel out the reiatsu pressure put off just from this sphere. She can hear the pulse, and, of course, it matches hers. There's no way it shouldn't. She wants to feel how well she transfers her reiatsu pressure. If she can do this in battle, she should be able to sharpen her zanpakutou and make it easier to cut. This would be especially useful when she learns to unseal her(them). "Ah. Child! This is marvelous." "I can hear you." "Of course. This kind of control is just what you need." Hikari visibly smiles. She's finally able to hear Luna-chan while concentrating on her reiatsu and generating her pulse at the loudest.

Fairly satisfied with where she is now, Hikari lets the reiatsu sphere collapse. As she stands, she picks up the book and begins flipping pages. She's looking for something specific, techniques on sharpening a zanpakutou with one's reiatsu pressure. How she manages to hold her zanpakutou in her unique way and read a book without dropping either is beyond any description. She just does it. As she reads, she is very careful to mentally point out anything she needs to pay especial attention to. She can't go breaking her zanpakutou while training. That just wouldn't do, so she reads and makes sure she understands everything before beginning.

After he had announced his victory, Shunketsu didn't bother waiting for a reply...if Nagi had someone ready to spar with Shunketsu, he'll just send that opponent his way eventually... Shunketsu retreated to his open area and began repeating his combos... Shunketsu went through steps 1-6 in order. Trying to pick out wasted effort and improve their execution... [15]
