MHHornfreak Tubariffic http://bandsofamerica.sitestream.com/06NCBF.swf click on the honors band, listen to the best sax solo ever. =D That's pretty cool, classical saxophonists have such a distinct vibrato. To be able to have such control over altissimos is quite hard and he played it with no trouble at all jumping octaves and keeping very good tone. I wonder if he's an exclusive classical saxophonist or if he plays jazz as well. I know alot of really talented sax players but they're either jazz or classical and only a very small number is proficient in both. Thanks for the link i really enjoyed it. Yeah! Ditto that smile It was quite good

I still prefer the sound of a good jazz saxophonist.

My favorite warm up is just to play the rhythm 1 + 2 e + a for each note going up and down a scale. 3nodding

Sax! (Tenor- Yamaha/king, alto- selmer, bari- not sure.) I love Tenor the best though. It has the best range and works the best for Jazz band.
((also clarinet, drums, trumpet, piano, trombone, guitar.))

I am a baritone sax player through and through. I actually started on clarinet, then went to alto, the played bari. To be honest I hated it at first. Now I can't live without it. I used to rent one (a Berkeley model) but now I'm back to using the school sax. Which kind of stinks, but they're really expesnive. My dream baritone sax though is this foreign made one (forget the brand) that is black laquered with silver keys. I will own it someday.
But yeah. I enjoy all the saxes though. I wouldn't say I miss clarinet as much...but would love to get the chance to play bass, alto or contrbass clarinet sometime. They sound awesome. I guess I've become a lover of the lower woodwinds.
I've recently played tenor sax for our school musical and that was mucho fun. I usually use the bari for marching and concert season though and stick to it.

I'm thinking of what Sarah said... I only started playing sax a week ago, but I have a yamaha alto, I forget the model., but I really really like it. Seriously, it is so very different to my clarinet, but I reallyreally do love my sax that love is watching someone die...
