"Huh, so I guess there are a good few Pokemon like Vivillon around the world. I wonder if students in other regions do the same project then...huh..." Fela said, going quiet for awhile as she thought to herself. Maybe it was comforting to her to humor the idea that this was something that played out all over the world numerous times, that she was not the first nor would she be the last. Once she was done with her thoughts she would smile at Tristen. "Thanks! I'm going to go get some water, see you in class!" She said to Tristen before suddenly running off.

In time Tristen would find his way to Mr. Jacq's science class. There he found Penny in the corner on her phone and Camp eagerly waiting for the teacher. Camp would spot Tristen as he walked in and waved at him happily. "Hey Tristen! Isn't this exciting!? I've been waiting all month for today!" He said happily, his eyes almost sparkling with excitement.

Tristen wasn’t 100 percent sure on what Fela said. Then again, this was the first school he’s ever been a part of and there wasn’t really an academy quite like this one. At least, not in Jhoto anyways that he knew of. But if it kept Fela in an okay mood, then he’d just let her believe it. When she would go off to get her water, he’d stash his SNAG once again, hoping that this settled things for her finally. This wasn’t her first rodeo, that he was told, and it was all for the sake of learning. She just needed to let go. Let Vivillion be happy, regardless of what happens. With a sigh, he would go off, needing to take a minor detour to a restroom himself, but once he was done he would make his way to Mr. Jacq’s science class.

Once he showed up, he’d find Penny and Camp already in the class room. He’d take a seat close by to the two of them. “Well, it’d be great seeing the hard work paid off. I still wish that stuff a couple of weeks ago didn’t happen so I could have been here the whole time for it.” Tristen told him. “I wonder how are we going to do this though? Does he just takes us out off the Academy grounds or…?” Short of taking them out into the rec yards, where there would sure to be students and Pokémon around thanks to Ms. Dendra, he couldn’t imagine where else they could go.

"Yep, that's exactly it. I watched last year's release from afar and Mr. Jacq takes everyone out to the south of the city to a hill just on the other side of the river and releases them there. Plenty of nearby forest and decent air currents to catch for when they fly off." Camp responded to Tristen. If the boy had to imagine Camp must be talking about that small hilly area between Mesagoza and Los Platos. "My only question is if we'll get back in time for fourth period." Camp pondered aloud.

"I'm sure it'll be okay." Fela spoke up as she arrived, walking past the boys and to her nearby desk where she would set her bag down. "If Mr. Jacq does this every year then I'm certain he informs the rest of the teachers that we may be late, or not show up at all." It was a good point.

In time the bell would ring and Mr. Jacq of course was no where to be seen for several minutes after. Eventually he'd come scrambling in with a box, struggling with it slightly as he sat it down on his desk with a grunt. "Good morn- afternoon, class!" He said with a chuckle, forgetting what time of day it was for a moment. "Today's the big day! Release day!" He said with a cheer, he was awful happy about this. "Let's get right to it, shall we? I one of each the student pairs to come up and get your ball from the box. I took the liberty of writing your pair's initials on the ball so you know which is which. While you do that let me explain how this is going to go." Fela would let Tristen go get the ball, giving him a smile and a nod.

Mr. Jacq would proceed to explain exactly where Camp had already told Tristen they were going, south out of the city to a big hill slightly east. There they would get to the highest point of the will, hopefully with a good breeze, and release their Pokemon all at once. The Vivillon should take off on the wind and the Spewpa will retreat into the trees where they should evolve in the coming days, their instinct driven evolution spurring them on. Once he was done and as the last of the students got their Pokeball he spoke further. "So, are we all ready? If we are please file out of the classroom one at a time. I want you all to gather in the lobby downstairs so we maybe leave the academy as a group. Oh and take your bags, I don't know if we'll get back in time for next period. Don't worry, your teachers have been notified."

Fela, Penny and Camp would do just that, get up with their belongs and walk out of the room. Once they were in the hallway walking Fela would catch up to Tristen and walk alongside him. "How do you think Vivillon is going to act?" She whispered to Tristen as they walked.

Tristen looked back when he heard Fela make her way in and address both him and Camp about what Mr. Jacq possibly would do for today, considering what they were out to do. It was interesting, to say the least; it never occurred to the Manectric hybrid what’d happen at this part of the assignment. It was a little bit of a walk out of Mezagoza so time would probably be needed to arranged to get everyone out of the academy and across the city and off to the hillsides near Los Platos. So maybe it was going to take up a good chunk of the next period as well. Though all was said and good if not for the fact that once again Mr. Jacq was late. Yet again. How is he allowed to keep getting away with this? In fact, now that he thought about it, how is he always late like this? Where does he go? What is he doing? A mystery that probably was never going to be solved…

Tristen would carry on conversation with the others until Mr. Jacq would finally arrive in the class, and was ready to address the class. Tristen would take a look at Fela, and once given the go ahead, he would get up and retrieve back the Premier Ball that held the Vivillion that Fela and him had been trying to raise the entire time. Once he did, he would listen to what they were out to do – go to the hillside just slightly east of the southern entrance and have a mass release of the Pokémon. Tristen would get up again once the class was called upon to do so, grabbing his things once again, and then made his way off to the lobby to be ready to head off out. On the way down, Tristen would look back to Fela when she started to ask him about Vivillion. “Vivillion should be fine.” Tristen whispered back. “Might be a little confused at first, maybe, but should be fine once nature takes over and starts realizing what was going on. This is Vivillion’s day, after all. What about with you? You still good?” He asked her.

"Yeah, I'm okay. I'm still a bit sad but I can't help that. Also part of me is excited for the Vivillon, how they will all find their mates and make families of their own. It's kind of sweet, bittersweet." Fela replied to Tristen, admitting she still had her misgivings but was being much more mature and honest about it all than she previously was.

In time everyone would gather in the lobby downstairs and like usual the teacher, Mr. Jacq, was dead last to show up. He would take a count of everyone before leading his class out the front door, down the giant steps, through and out of Mesagoza and into Area One of South Province. Once out in the wild Mr. Jacq would release his Farigiraf, informing the class that while he didn't expect any trouble from the wild Pokemon around these parts as they were very timid, as Tristen could testify to, he still wanted to take every precaution in protecting his class. His Farigiraf would follow alongside the students, towering over them as it kept its four eyes and two minds open for threats.

The students would make their way east, following the river up into the hills as promised, spotting many wild Pokemon along the way such as Pachirisu and Skwovet foraging for food in mixed groups or schools of Magikarp swimming down stream. No wild Pokemon would dare try to attack them, not that these peaceful creatures would even want to but Farigiraf was still alert. After scaring off a flock of Fletchling the group would make their way to the top of a promise hill overlooking the river and Mesagoza beyond it to the north with Los Platos visible to the southwest, you could even see some of the ocean to the south. What a nice view, Mr. Jacq chose well.

"Okay class, get your Pokeballs ready." He instructed them as he took out his Rotom phone, holding it up into the sky as if he was trying to get a signal or something. "It's almost time...what do you think, Farigiraf?" He asked his Pokemon who proceeded to shake its head 'no'. Mr. Jacq nodded in agreement. "Yes, I can see what you mean." He said to the Pokemon, pocketing his phone. "We'll wait another minute or two before releasing, class. The winds aren't right yet."

Fela would give the teacher and his Pokemon a confused look before looking to Tristen, her expression all she needed to get her question to him across; what did he mean?
PostPosted: Fri Jun 06, 2025 3:32 pm

That was a lot more understandable than how she was before, for certain. It kind of effectively summed up his thoughts on the whole matter, on top of the fact that he ended up missing out on two weeks, and on one of those days the Pokémon had evolved into that Vivillion they knew now. But, honestly? If Tristen hadn’t taken part in that incident to stop Team Star, leaving the likes of say Atticus unchecked or be able to stop the chi machine that was on the gigantic star mobile, Vivillion probably would have been worse off. Who knows what would have happened. With all considered, Tristen was fine with that.

Tristen found his way to the lobby, having to wait Mr. Jacq once again. Which was weird…he could have sworn the teacher was right behind everyone. But fortunately, it wasn’t too bad off…this time. On the teacher’s word, he’d make his way off out of the academy, across the grounds, and down the gigantic set of stairs outside of the academy. It was a little bit before he would manage to guide the class across Mezagoza and off to the outskirts of the city, crossing the gates into Area One. Tristen would listen to the word of caution out of the teacher, which that wasn’t something Tristen was all that concerned with. He had Pokémon that were more than ready to take them on if need be if they decided to be brave to attack in any capacity.

Following the class still, he made his way off to the hillsides of area one, still taking in the sites of Area One, and was starting to be fairly certain that he didn’t make his way over this way in all the times he walked these fields in spite of him trying to explore around as he trained Vivillion or his other Pokémon. Though once they would arrive at their destination, Tristen would take note to the view, pretty convinced now he hadn’t. The view of the sea from where they stood was quite a bit different here and he was almost certain they had to find their way even further south of Los Platos just to see it. But here? It was pretty nice, he had to admit. Tristen would get Vivillion’s Pokeball at the ready on the teacher’s command. Tristen could hear the teacher converse with his Pokémon but, it confused the Manectric hybrid just a bit as to what they were talking about. When the teacher stated to wait a couple of minutes longer, he took note to Fela confused as to what was going on, which Tristen shrugged. This was pretty new territory to him. The wind had something to do with it? It felt like any other gentle breeze as far as he could tell, and there was nothing in the air that he could smell right off hand. He took a look around the area, trying to see if there was anything else going on. If there was a shift in weather perhaps, or a wild Pokémon that really didn’t need to be here for all of this.

Mr. Jacq would keep looking up at the sky and his Rotom phone, then back a this giraffe, waiting for something. Fela would get tired of wondering what was going on and would walk up to Penny and Camp, the four students eventually brought together as she asked them. "Tell Tristen what you told me." Fela said once Penny and Camp walked up to Tristen with her.

"Apparently the local Vivillon will be coming this way soon and Mr. Jacq tries to time the release just perfectly so all the Vivillon can mingle together and ride the trade winds together. Make it as natural as possible." Camp explained. Fela would nod along as it made enough sense to her.

A couple minutes later Mr. Jacq would perk up and smile to himself, turning around to his class and declare; "Now is the time!" He shouted, throwing his hands up in the air. "Release your Pokemon now!" He implored the students. If they all looked off to the west, up the river a ways, they could see what looked like a mostly green and white 'cloud' moving towards them. That was no cloud but a swarm of Vivillon, the local Fancy Pattern ones, and they were coming this way.

Fela watched as Camp happily tossed their Pokeball into the air, Penny ready with her phone to take tons of pictures, the sound of her phone snapping them one after the other. The ball would burst open to reveal their Vivillon which immediately and without delay began to flutter towards the reiver to meet the incoming swarm. Other Pokeballs around them burst open with more Vivillon heading in that direction and a few Spewpa as well, seemingly watching the swarm's arrival eagerly. In the midst of all this Fela would turn to Tristen and say one word; "Okay." She said, with a nod and watery eyes.

The swarm of Vivillon were closer by now, Tristen able to make them out much better. There had to be hundreds of them, all together in one massive swarm that threatened to blot out the sky. It was no doubt a thing of beautiful, fascination and maybe even a little bit of fright, the other wild Pokemon certainly thought so as Tristen might note they had all fled. The skies and Earth were owned by the Vivillon in this moment, the world was theirs.

Tristen continued to look about for the next minute as Fela walked off as she started to talk to the others, but once she brought Camp on over at least, it started to make sense. It left him to wonder if at the very least similar things were done back in the Kanto Region with the Butterfree, that he could think about it. Then again, he remembered some articles vaguely about people going up in hot air balloons, so maybe it was different for every Pokémon? Tristen could only speculate at that point. It took a couple of minutes more before Mr. Jacq addressed the class. Tristen quickly started to look around to see what he was getting at until he finally saw it, and what he was after. He was wanting the Vivillion to intermingle with the natural swarm already out and about in the wild instead of leaving it to the couple of dozen Pokémon raised by the class, and this hillside was usually the path that they’d take during this time of the season.

Tristen would take out the Premier ball, looking over towards Fela. She was trying to hold herself together, but it was time. “Alright, Vivillion, Go!” Tristen called out. “Have fun!” He’d lob the ball up and the ball would discharge to release the Pokeball-patterned Vivillion out.

In a burst of iconic Premier Ball red light Vivillon would appear from the ball, displaying its Pokeball pattern with pride, eliciting some 'oohs' and 'aahs' from the other students. From what Tristen could tell their Vivillon was the only one with a non-Fancy Pattern. Their Vivillon would immediately clock the flock of Vivillon and let out a happy cry, fluttering its wings excitedly and bouncing up and down in mid air. This made Fela grimace slightly. Vivillon then began to start for the direction of the swarm, eager to be with them, however something it gave it pause, the butterfly stopping itself and looking back and down at Tristen. "Vi?" It chirped, then looking towards Fela who had a said expression on her face until she saw Vivillon looking at her and forced a smile.

"It's okay Vivillon, go be with your friends!" Fela said, giving Vivillon a thumbs up, trying her best to keep up her smile. It was hard for the girl, she had really hoped that in this moment Vivillon would have doubts, would look to them for permission, and if it did she could use that moment to make it not go. And yet when that moment finally was given to her she couldn't do it, couldn't bear to deny Vivillon its nature as had been explained to her by many. She wanted to be selfish this whole time but when the chips were down she just couldn't do it. Even thought part of her regretted not being selfish.

"Vi...vi...?" Vivillon said questioningly, looking from Fela and Tristen several times and then back at the swarm as the other student Vivillon began to join them.

"Interesting." Mr. Jacq spoke up, walking up to Tristen and Fela. "It is hesitant on going with the others. It wants permission from the two of you to leave. You both have developed really close bonds with this one." The teacher explained. While he couldn't understand Pokemon speech he was a Pokemon professor, and one didn't earn such a title by not understanding the inner workings of Pokemon.

Fela's eyes went wide at this reveal and looked from Tristen and back to Vivillon, realizing she had another shot at keeping Vivillon after all! However when she looked towards the swarm and saw how they all danced together and how happy they looked she felt guilty again. Looking to Tristen the girl sighed. "Tristen...?" She couldn't do it, he had to give Vivillon permission.

Permission? Now? Of all the times? Tristen was a little afraid of this. Even Fela’s insisting to go, it wasn’t enough. Though she wasn’t giving that convincing of reassurance that it was okay. She was breaking down. This bug needed to go. Tristen would just shake his head. “Vivillion, it’s your day! You don’t need our permission for this. You can go. Enjoy.” Tristen simply said. “Don’t worry about us. We’ll be fine.” He said. Just as he told Fela, no matter what, they had to let go. And that was what Tristen was going to do, and in spite of whatever minor reservations and regrets he had, he was okay with that. Both he and Fela needed to be. “We’ll see you around, okay? You take care of your friends; you’re ready for all of this! Go on and have fun.”

Vivillon's eyes would almost sparkle as it listened to Tristen, its antenna twitching with excited before it threw itself at the young hybrid and embraced him in a little hug, flutter its wings and accidentally getting a bit of powder on him. The butterfly would let go of Tristen and move over to Fela next, giving her a hug. The girl couldn't help but embraced the bug tightly, sniffling a bit as they hugged. Vivillon would try to pull away and at first Fela didn't want to let go but her inner voice commanded her to and so she did. As Fela let go the Vivillon would let out a happy cry as it waved at them both, then turning around and flying off towards the swarm its excitement never fading.

Mr. Jacq and the rest of the students would continue to watch the Vivillon mingle over the river, Penny taking more pictures as Camp instructed her on what to focus on, much to her annoyance. As everyone enjoyed the sight Fela stood there in silence, watching their Vivillon fly away. The moment she saw their Vivillon flutter around and 'dance' with another Vivillon she turned around and began to quickly walk away, not wanting to see anymore. While she walked off Mr. Jacq began to lecture a bit on where they would go from here, up the river and over some mountains to the north and into Kalos where their breeding grounds were. He was too busy to notice Fela or any other students leaving.

While she walked off Mr. Jacq began to lecture a bit on where they would go from here, up the river and over some mountains to the north and into Kalos where their breeding grounds were. He was too busy to notice Fela or any other students leaving.

Tristen hugged the bug a bit, letting go only a short bit afterwards, giving a bit of a laugh over Vivillion’s excitement over the matter. He would then watch get hugged by Fela, though longer than what he got, only for him to realize Fela was having a hard time letting go. She was only letting go out of reluctance. But once the bug was free to fly, fly it did off with the other Vivillion. Tristen took a couple of steps forward to look at the bugs mingle and dance about the skies, making their way off to where they were to go, where their instincts told them to go. Tristen sighed out, thinking for a moment. This is what he wanted. What he fought for. This was the world as it should be; that he wanted to see. Wanted to learn about. This is what he was protecting as long as he had been with Snagem.

Mr. Jacq would then start giving a lecture, which got Tristen’s full attention, pretty certain that it whatever he had was going to be on some sort of quiz or test or something of that sort. Though in the midst of the lecture, something nagged at Tristen at the back of his mind. He took a look around where he last saw Fela standing, only to see her not standing there anymore. He took a quick look around the area, only to have saw Fela walking off. Tristen slightly grimaced, not too sure if he needed to stay, but he didn’t want to just leave Fela out on her own. Even if wild Pokémon were timid out here, she didn’t have any Pokémon on her to defend herself if any one of them gets a wild hair to attack, like a Tarountula or something of that sort. He slowly inched around the group and went off towards Fela. She still wasn’t okay. That much was clear. As much as she probably tried to steel herself, she was quickly collapsing now, more so that Vivillion was well out of her reach now. He caught back up to Fela. “Fela?” Tristen spoke up.

Tristen would catch up to Fela as the girl was now sitting on the ground about halfway down the hill, facing to the west as she stared down at Los Platos. "Did I ever tell you where my hometown was?" Fela asked Tristen without looking around, she just kept her gaze on the horizon. "It's right there, Los Platos." The girl said as she pointed at the tiny town nestled in the valley. "I don't know why I didn't tell you that when we were there, maybe because I'm embarrassed." She continued. "When I was little, before I joined the academy, we lived in Los Platos with my grandparents and my dad and mom would work in Mesagoza, like many people in my hometown did. I would spend a lot of time with my grandparents, especially my grandfather, as I didn't really have friends my own age there thanks to how old the town folk generally are. My grandpa though was a veteran Pokemon trainer himself from back in the day. He was also so eager to turn me into the next Champion rank trainer, as he once was. Starting at seven he began to teach me about Pokemon, even picking out my first Pokemon, a Fletchling, just months in. Something about that one and my Kalosian heritage. My parents went and got one from Kalos because of that instead of a local one." Fela started to explain.

"We trained so much but I just wasn't getting the hang of it, Fletchling not listening to me, we were losing battles we should have won, and just all around doing bad. However my grandpa never gave up on me, he kept encouraging me, ensuring me I would get better, though I knew better, I just wasn't cut out to be a trainer." The girl said with a heavy sigh. "I tried though, I kept training with Fletchling on my own time without my grandpa's supervision but Fletchling just didn't like me I guess. Eventually it got tired of my poor skill I suppose and just flew off, joined a bunch of other Fletchling and that was the last I ever saw from it. The upsetting part was I really did like that bird, I wanted to be friends with it so bad, tried everything I could to get it to like me but in the end it left." She said with a sniffle.

"My grandpa consoled me, again told me it would be okay, we'd get a different Pokemon. But before that could happen...two weeks later...he passed away." She said, her voice cracking a bit as she wiped away the beginning of tears. "I was only nine when he passed away but it hit me hard, I really loved my grandpa. So not only did I lose one of my only friends in Fletchling but my grandpa too. I was so sad, didn't want to do anything for months, just locked myself away in my room. Months later my parents surprised me, informing they had saved up enough money to send me to the academy so I could learn how to become a Pokemon trainer like my grandfather wanted and make friends. So wit that my grandmother sold the house and we all moved into an apartment in Mesagoza and I joined the academy. And I admit, I'm happy they did that for me, I made friends and was happy in time. But the one thing I could never get right is the whole Pokemon training thing. Every time I got my hands on a Pokemon it would eventually leave me for one reason or the other. Fletchling, Magikarp and now Vivillon." She said, looking at the grass below.

"Every time it just makes me wonder...will I lose my friends too in time? Is that how this works? You get close to something and before long it goes away?" She said, looking towards Tristen.

Tristen slowly approached her when she started talking to him. Before he knew it, he found himself in Fela pouring herself out to Tristen, and why she had the hardest time steeling herself for her inevitable parting with Vivillion. Some of which Tristen knew about, specifically how she lost the Fletchling years ago. Though he didn’t have the details as to why the bird left. Though it was sort of what he suspected. Even she knew she wasn’t cut out in Pokémon training, but then, given what he’s dealt with in the short amount of time he’s been around, she just really didn’t know. She was given a task in trying to raise a Pokémon she knew nothing of more than likely, and Fletchling weren’t exactly that timid to begin with. Though it seemed fate had a hand in not allowing her to try again in any capacity. And she was young. Younger than what most would consider fit to start Pokémon training. Her main supporter was a grandfather that passed before she became ‘great’. The whole fact of why she was here at the academy was a thing in and of itself. He would take a spot next to her, and sit down as she told her history.

“Fela, you know that’s not true. There might be time apart, but there’s always a chance to come back together again. Especially when the parting is on good terms. Even if you two don’t, it’s the impression and the time you spent with each other that matters most. You think Vivillion is going to think less of you right now? Fela, Vivillion is the way it is now because of you. You helped Vivillion to get this point, to be able to fly off in the sky like that. You helped give it a gift that it’s never going to let go of if it can help it.” Tristen said. “Being honest, earlier this week, my first day back, I heard you and the others didn’t think that I’d come back to class after all of that a couple of weeks ago, but here I am. And also, I heard about Fletchling and the Magikarp before now. And I’m not really sure if you needed to count the Magikarp in anything because you were supposed to be set to let it go for class just like we did with Vivillion just now. As for the Fletchling though, you were probably not ready for it, even though you or your grandfather thought differently. I know you cared for all of these Pokémon, Vivillion especially, but really, it just sounds like you were caught out by circumstance and guilt, and seeing Vivillion fly off, I’m guessing just didn’t help matters. You can’t let it stop you; it’s not your fault. You just said your family gave up a house just so you could have a future. Even if it wasn’t in Pokémon training, this place seems to have a lot of things you could do. And people here that are willing to help you. You could still be that champion ranked trainer, maybe give Nemona a run for her money eventually, even. Even not, you got friends to help you get to wherever you want to go. Friends, like me. You’re not really going to lose out on friends that easily.” He told her. “If you want, I can help you try again. Take a different approach on things.” Tristen couldn’t help but to get a resigned shrug with a little bit of a laugh at that. “I’m already set on helping Matteo out, namely with his Shelgon, and we're talking about a guy who was originally scared to ask for help for anything out of sheer pride. So why not?”

Fela listened to Tristen and while he was making good points she didn't seem all the receptive to his consoling. It was only when only when he offered to help her try again with training Pokemon that she looked up and towards him, giving him a halfhearted smile. That was when she caught the Vivillon swarm out of the corner of her eye, the girl turning her head all the way around to watch them again. For several long seconds she watched the swarm as it began to make its way up the river, leaving this hill behind. Among that swarm was their Vivillon and it was happy, and with all its new friends that readily accepted it without question. Just like her friends for her, just like they did for Tristen. "It's beautiful..." She whispered to herself.

Turning back to Tristen she gave him a more earnest smile and wiped away any tears she had left on her face. "Okay..." She said with a nod, a sigh and then a slap on her legs. "Okay! If you can help a guy like Matteo than I guess helping me should be a breeze!" Fela said with a giggle as she rose to her feet, feeling better already. Maybe all she needed was to verbalize her problems, have someone listen. Vivillon was just a focal point. "I guess we better get back before Mr. Jacq notices we're gone, though I doubt he would. Plus I want to see if we can still see our Vivillon, maybe it found a mate already!" With that declaration Fela ran up back the hill to rejoin the class.

Tristen and the rest of the class would spend the rest of the school day up on this hill, watching the Vivillon dance over the water, slowly making their way up the river and headed north. They would also spend some time monitoring he still unevolved Spewpa, aiding them in finding proper hiding spots while they wait to evolve, Mr. Jacq justifying this mild interference with nature as they were already trained by humans.

Eventually Mr. Jacq would declare the school day was over and he was obligated to escort them all back to the academy and that he did, the class making their way down the hill and all the way to Mesagoza and through the city. Once they got to the front courtyard Mr. Jacq would take attendance and then release, officially ending their day. Penny and Camp were off with a wave while Fela hung back to talk to Tristen once more. "Thank you, Tristen, again. Sorry for being so silly all the time." She said, a bit embarrassed of herself.
