"I pretended that I was a llama like Kuzco and the pizza was Pacha!" Aysun said proudly.
"Yes, and I got the honor of being Yzma." muttered a disgruntled Nikolai. He glanced up at Leon. "Tell me, dearie, I don't look that old, do I?" His eyes glinted with the warning should his husband get the wrong answer.
"Ooh! Uncle Leon you can be Kronk!" Aysun burst as he looked over the couch, stars in his eyes.

Leon sat on the couch, watching some random fat woman be yelled at by a much thinner, very fit one. It was awful, he felt terrible just looking at this, but he couldn't stop watching. At any rate, it was better than working out himself. With a sigh, he looked down over his body, one hand touching his stomach. It was still flat, thank God, but he could feel his muscles weakening due to lack of activity. He would have to go to the gym very soon. But... television was so interesting...
Hearing a knock at the door, Leon sighed and made himself stand up, muting the television. "I'll get it," he announced, stretching his arms over his head as he walked over to the door. Sh-t, he was hungry. When was the last time he even ate? With a small chuckle, he reached for the doorknob. He was turning into Nikolai. Leon opened the door, a smile on his face. "Hello, how can I-" He froze as he realized who was standing on their front step.
Even in her glamour, Maggie was unmistakable. He looked her up and down, admittedly impressed by the beauty of this particular form of hers, but blinked as her appearance faltered. She was probably still recovering, this was taking up more power than she had to spare, but her vanity was more important than her health. "Leon, you have to help me," she breathed, her hands on the door as she pushed gently.
Leon regained his composure, pushing the door back and shaking his head. "No way, not after what you did. Maggie, you had me killed, AGAIN, and caused the deaths of a lot of people. I don't have to anything for you, now please go," he said, trying to close the door. But she persisted.
"Baby, I know I was incredibly naughty, but I'm not having fun anymore. There are people, serious people, looking out to have me killed permanently. I've lost everything. I don't have a position, any powers, I'm just a soul now. I could be chained to Hell if they found me. Please, you have to help me. I wouldn't have come here if I wasn't desperate!" She begged, hands clasped together as she pleaded with er ex-husband.
Leon looked her up and down, uncertainty on his face. He didn't want to help her, not after what she'd done, but every now and then, her glamour winked and he could see the girl she used to be. It was a good thing she was injured, because that sight was enough to incite his response. "Fine, but Nikolai can't know I'm helping you, or that you're this weak. Is there any way you could sneak around back and hide in the kitchen?" he asked, pausing to glance inside the house. Where was Nikolai?

By the time Nikolai turned to look, Leon had already shut the door, leaning on it and looking through a stack of mail. "How many times a week are you going to get the same love letters from the same people?" he asked, pulling out the one out of fifteen that was addressed to him. Opening it, he looked over the writing, then laughed. "Check this out. This kid says that if I give her an A, she'll do anything I want. "Anything" is underlined and there are hearts all around it." Holding it up for Nikolai to see, he read a little more, then crumpled it up and shook his head. "Don't they know I'm a married man?"
Walking closer to Nikolai, he leaned in to kiss his cheek before handing him the other letters. "Here, why don't you look through these and see if I should feel threatened. I'm going to make us something to eat for lunch. Do leftovers sound okay?"

With a grin, he kissed Nikolai's head before disappearing into the kitchen. Maggie sat on a chair, legs crossed as she scrunched her nose at him. "Married life suits you, I guess," she said distastefully, looking down at her nails. Her hands tensed as her glamour winked once more, swallowing hard. She knew it wouldn't last long. Honestly, this form was mostly a disguise to keep people from recognizing her. She would probably die if they did, especially if Nikolai did. It wasn't like she could protect herself.
"I guess you could say that. There were a few bumps along the road, but I think we're settling very well." He reached into the fridge, pulling out a stack of tupperware and placing them on the counter. "Now then, how am I supposed to help you?" he asked, opening one of the larger bowls.
Maggie shrugged, looking away from him. "I don't know, I was hoping you could answer that. There's just so much going on, I don't know how to protect myself. All I can do is scheme, and I'm so tired of that. I just want to be somewhere safe, just rest, but even my mind won't let me." She sighed, staring at the ground. "I wish I was that silly girl that convinced you to marry her again. I don't even know how I got twisted into this thing I am now."
Leon paused, staring at the counter. Twisted. That's right. Maggie had once been completely different. She was human when she died. He'd never thought about it, but what had given her her powers? Maybe there was more to this than expected. Maggie made a lot of deals, what if one of them had completely twisted her soul? What if... What if she could be redeemed?

As time slowed, Maggie's senses heightened. Before even Leon knew what was happening, she was gone. What power she had was put into speed, her appearance faltering entirely into her plain original one as she suddenly appeared at the bottom of the stairs, her body wrapped around Aysun's body as they hit the ground. She groaned in pain as her head hit the floor, but she was certain the boy was unharmed. Wait, boy? Didn't they have a girl? Oh never mind, everything hurt.
Leon ran out to the stairs, Maggie's disappearance combined with the noise making him run. He skidded to a stop, however, at the sight of his ex-wife holding on to his child. "Maggie," he breathed, eyes wide. He knew it. Maggie could still be saved. This was proof. There was still light within her. Moving closer, he pulled Aysun into his arms and held him before looking over him for scratches. "Are you alright?" he asked.
Maggie groaned as she struggled to sit up, wincing but somehow standing. "I'm great, thanks for asking." she said as sarcastically as she could.

Both Leon and Maggie grimaced at Nikolai's voice. Great, this wasn't going to go well. Deciding to be truthful, Leon moved to stand in front of his ex-wife and faced his husband. "She asked me for my help, and I agreed. I know you hate her, but there's a reason why she's like this, Nikolai, and it isn't her fault. She can be redeemed, she can be fixed. I'm going to try to help her." He looked back to her, watching her shrink back. He knew she couldn't protect herself from Nikolai, her powers fading more and more by the minute.
Eyes back on Nikolai, he crossed his arms and stood upright. "If I fix her, then she won't be a problem anymore. Do you want her out of our lives, or would you rather she continues to try to kill one or both of us?"

Maggie wisely remained silent, although she did wrap her fingers around Leon's arm as Nikolai became more and more frightening. Now that she couldn't protect herself, she'd never been more afraid of him. But Leon stood tall between them, as heroic as ever.
"A week, maybe more," he said, glancing behind himself to look at her. He knew it probably wasn't smart to say, but he needed to be completely truthful with his husband. "Nikolai, she doesn't have that much power left. Soon, she'll be completely powerless and unable to protect herself at all. I know what she's done, but I made a promise when I married her, and it's high time I follow through and keep it. If you want, I can just take her back to the cabin, but I need to stay with her until this is over. She'll be killed if I don't."
