   "You underestimate the strength of unity!" The hero responded defiantly. "Shackled hearts joined together can overcome evil. Right now, they yearn for a tomorrow free from you, and I've come to deliver that tomorrow to them! A tomorrow of laughter, a tomorrow of peace. An entire future for them! That future doesn't belong to YOU!" He said fiercely, his eyes narrowed. This little story of theirs was something they had done for a while years ago, and they had always planned to have a final confrontation to decide the fate of the world, but they had never gotten around to it. Now, it was time at last for destiny to unfold!
Yet like any epic, the hero was constantly on the backfoot. This Dark Empress was proving exactly how she remained in her position of tyrannical power for so long--were even his bravest efforts not enough to defeat this evil? Was he destined to join the rest of humankind as a slave to the Dark Empress forevermore? She knocked the blade out of his grasp, and planted him there onto his back. "Guh...!" He let out as her knee pressed against him, and he was forced to listen to her wicked offer. Never had the hero been in such a desperate situation. Perhaps... perhaps he should accept she was too powerful. "...If... if I submit to you... What of Princess Hiyori? Will you release her?""...Haha... I'm afraid not, Hero. I've grown rather fond of my most precious slave. Heehee, oh yes... Even now, she eagerly awaits me to visit her in her dungeon yet again. She will be mine for the rest of her days, and she will give birth to my successors! Mwahahaha!""...Monster!" Annette let out a short shriek as she was forced off the Hero, but the Dark Empress was quick to recover, as they both got to their feet. 'I will never submit to the likes of you! I will save this world and the princess both! I had hoped not to use this, but... It seems I have no choice!" Grabbing his blade and raising it once again, he channeled the awesome light magic within, covering the blade in a golden aura which held within it everyone's dreams for a better future! "May this cleave the dark aura surrounding you in twain! Holy Buster!" And with that, he lunged for her, attempting to deliver a decisive strike--one that would decide the fate of the world! (Reiner attacks desperately, needing to turn this battle around NOW! Roll 5 dice to determine the future of this world. If any of the dice roll 10, Annette is stricken by the heroic radiance, bringing the Dark Empress at last to her knees! If none of them roll 10, however, the darkness surrounding her defends her from this holy smite, and she retaliates with EXTREME advantage! Worse still, if any roll 1, the darkness overtakes the valiant Hero! If both a 1 and a 10 are rolled, the two powers dispel one another, and Annette takes 5 damage! The fate of this world rests upon you, Hero!)

Annette ...And just before the strike that may finally bring an end to her blighted rule, the Hero before her froze in place. A wide, knowing smirk spread across the Dark Empress's lips. "...What's the matter, Hero? Go on... Conquer me with your righteous blade. What are you w-a-i-t-i-n-g for?" She leaned in, her dark smirk widening. "...You've finally realized it, haven't you, he~ro? The difference in our power... That pathetic candle can't hope to stand up to an ocean of darkness. Don't you understand? ...You had no hope from the beginning." She leaned back. "Drop your sword, peasant." Reiner immediately dropped his holy blade, the last hope for this world. "Kneel, dog." And he obeyed, without question. That satisfied smirk only widened. "What a perfect look for you, Hero. Or should I call you slave? ... Mm, but I bet I can find a better look." And then came a harsh kick to his chest, forcing the hero onto his back. And there came her heel, planted firmly upon the Hero's chest. Her heel coming down on his chest accompanied by his defeated grunt--the noises were small, yet they seemed deafening. Like a bell sounding out the eternal subjugation of man--the coming of an age of darkness, where humanity submitted helplessly to their Dark Empress, just as their Hero had. Keeping that heel planted firmly on the former Hero's chest, the Dark Empress crossed her arms beneath her chest, smirking a knowing, victorious smirk. This world... belonged to her. "Your journey ends here, Hero." She commanded oppressively down to him. And in his defeated heart, the former Hero knew it to be true. No one... no one would ever stand up to the Empress.
"And so, the hero lived out the rest of his days at the beck and call of the Empress, meekly serving her as her lowly slave. He could only watch on helplessly as Princess Hiyori bore the wicked woman's children, and the world remained under her rule forevermore..." Annette nodded, satisfied, with a big smile on her face and her eyes closed."Well, I don't think the hero would meekly serve her," Reiner interjected from beneath her heel. "He would be defiant the entire time!""But he WOULD serve either way. She's his master now, like it or not!""Well... yes, you're right. Or... Yes, Maser Annette. The Dark Empress was... simply too powerful for me!""...Heehee! Yeah!" Pressing her heel into his chest a bit more, she dropped her very cool, dominant, empress pose on him and instead just threw her arms in the air in victory. "Yeah! Bad end! The evil b***h enslaves the hero, ******** the princess, and rules the world happily ever after! I'm so glad we finally gave the story an ending. And such a great one, too!" She had quite the unique taste in what made an enjoyable ending, that was for sure! (( OOC: ))

  With how into their 'roles' of the duel the two were, it was unlikely they took note of the gathering crowed. It wasn't really until they got so deeply into their roles as hero and villain, that one of those girls became much more interested! The silly beaming look that over took Teresa's face was so obvious, it was a little to obvious how much she was enjoying this show. For one who really LOVED her story books, especially those very much like their little playout here, it felt as though she was magically transported into one as she watched. The hero wasn't doing so well, but that didn't seem to bother her so much, if anything, her focus was falling a little to much on Annette's impressive skills, she was almost constantly with the upper hand against him, and the more she displayed how very powerful she was with her unique abilities, the more she felt herself drawn to her! Silly innocent Teresa, falling for the 'evil' one of the story. What was wrong with her!?
As their duel came to it's final end, she couldn't help but feel a little disappointed, she could have watched more of this til they were both to weak to go fighting anymore! ...That wouldn't be very healthy though! Still, she really enjoyed their greatly performed show so much, she may of even forgotten it was a duel at all. "...That was great!! " She yelled out, they might notice, of all those watching, she was the only one excitedly clapping for them.
Or was it for THEM? Her eyes were still pretty focused on Annette, she could very well be clapping for her victory! "You're amazing, Annette. I bet no one here could ever come close to beating the great Dark Empress! Hee,hee! "

AnnetteAnnette was aware that some people had been watching them duel, but she was a little surprised by how many they had gathered with their little performance. She was a little too into the scene to even realize it--she WAS the Dark Empress for that entire battle, dominating the foolish Hero within her castle! And she was so thrilled to bring the story to a great bad ending! And clearly some people in the audience agreed. Teresa's words on fueled her on more, bringing that very satisfied expression back to her face quickly. She put her hands on her hips proudly as her foot rested atop the defeated Hero, closing her eyes in a proud expression. "That's right, cute peasant! I am unstoppable! No one could hope to defeat me--not even the Omniscient Sorceress, Minerva!""Don't drag me into your sad delusions." Minerva reacted flatly."Hahaha... Hear the fear in her voice! It's so fitting my subjects saw their hero fall in person. Come! Kneel before your ruler! Submit to me utterly! Down on your knees is the most fitting position for your kind when you face me! Hahaha... MWAHAHAHAHAHA!!" And there came her practiced evil laughter, throwing her head back and raising her arms slightly along with it as usual. Her evil laughter was truly unparalleled--even a rotten villain couldn't hope to match it!(( OOC: ))

After being utterly conquered beneath the oppressive heel of the wicked Dark Empress, the Hero was forced to become her slave and serve her for the rest of his life. Luckily, Reiner wasn't in the same boat, and was free to retreat and fight another day! Or more accurately, fight right now. Annette may have dominated him, but there were others to train against, and his holy blade collided with Javik's dark blade several times at impressive speed. It almost seemed fitting for these polar opposite blades to collide, but in this instance, it was a friendly sparring match. And probably good, Javik had spent most of this vacation brooding alone, as he usually did! Shoving him backwards, Reiner let out a breath, standing up straight and smiling. "All right, let's take a short break.""Ah, all right. Sure." Javik responded, lowering his sword as Reiner did the same. "...That was quite a show you put on with Annette." Javik said after a moment of silence."Ah, I didn't know you saw! Yes, she certainly put me in my place!" He really sounded jovial when he said anything, didn't he?"Pretty sure the whole island saw. You two have always been close... Seems like she might have a thing for you, you think?""Hmm, a thing? Like a gift? I don't know why she would-""Like a crush, you idiot.""Oh! No, I doubt that! She's always flirted with girls, you know. She gets rejected quite often!" He said with a chuckle."You pay pretty close attention to her, huh...?""...Well, that's..." Reiner paused a moment. He supposed perhaps he did... "Who's to say?""You gay or something?""Oh no, I'm not personally. I guess I just haven't thought about romance much. I know I'm not that appealing regardless! It would probably take an angel to take an interest in someone like me." He scratched his cheek idly, feeling a bit odd discussing this. "Not to say I'm terribly self-conscious, just, I know I'm not the sort of person a woman would think of when it comes to manly attractiveness. You're much more fitting for that." Javik rolled his eyes in response. "On the other side of the coin, you and Ariel seem to be getting along great. You're both so cute together.""What?! Shut up! That's not what we're discussing right now!!" That was a pretty quick way to make the aloof masked man lose his composure, bringing up the girl he was in love with!

"Reeeiner..." A voice called from behind him, a short distance away, but as he turned he would see his sister hurrying towards him, her hands together as though she were holding something in them. She didn't appear to look very happy though! Her normally cheerful face fell into worry as she reached him, holding out her cupped hands before raising one away, and bringing it to the other to help brace what was inside. "It's little shell was completely broken on the beach, I found it trying to hide in what was left of it....can we save it? ...Do you think we can find another shell for it? .....We should get everyone to help search! Will you, Javik? Please?! " Lucky he was there too, she already had two potential extra eyes to help find a new home for the poor little hermit crab!
Sure, she could of looked around for Azura, but she knew her brother and his love for animals and any living creature. He was the best to help save the day for the little creature!

Reiner's attention was called to his older sister as she rushed over to him. "Ah, La'riah! Is something the matter?" He put a hand to his chin, listening intently as she explained the apparent issue, and showed him the hermit crab."...This is natural selection, La'riah. It needs to find its own shell to survive, and we're too busy to-""Oh no!" Javik was an idiot if he expected Reiner's reaction to be anything other than what was about to happen. "Come on, there's no time to waste!" He grabbed his sister, lifting her into a princess carry and sprinting towards the beach--because her legs clearly couldn't take her fast enough, he couldn't have just taken the crab instead, and this was obviously something that needed them to hurry!"..." Javik shook his head, looking like he was tired of being surrounded by idiots. "No thanks, I'll just stand here and... brood." He muttered in response to La'riah who now was no longer able to hear him.Placing La'riah gently on her feet, Reiner brandished a toy sand shovel, holding it high. "Not to worry, we'll find you a home!" He said heroically, before diving down into the sand and very vigorously beginning to shovel sand out of the way! Much slower than he probably could with his hands, given the size of the shovel."...What are you Neanderthals doing." Minerva "asked" in the most flat tone her voice allowed, as she stood there, arms crossed under her chest, looking even more disappointed than usual, and watching this actual circus in front of her.

 The look of sheer disappointment on La'riah's face was enough to make most people drop what they were doing, and do anything they could to bring that smile back to her adorable face. She didn't expect Javik to be very enthused to help, but perhaps she hoped he would at least try! Luckily, she had a brother who REALLY cared about life's little adorable creatures, and that was so well shown when she was suddenly lifted into a princess carry into her very dramatic brother's arms, as he sprinted his way to the beach! His determination alone made her smile start to return, not to mention a little color to her cheeks. It was a bit embarrassing having been carried along the way, but it was for good reason!
As he placed her back to her feet, she would join in the searching as best she could, looking on top of the stand and in the shallow waters where the hermit crabs tended to wander, she hoped maybe there would be an abandoned shell somewhere! " Reiner will definitely find you a new home, don't worry little crab! " Well, these two were certainly interesting siblings when it came to creatures and their love for them. "Oh...! Minerva..Can you help us? ..." She didn't seem to register the insult directed towards them all, and instead held the little crab up so she could see it too! "..It lost it's shell, it was destroyed! It won't survive long without one, so my brother is trying to find a abandoned shell that it can have...Can you help? The more help we have, the better chances it will survive! "

"I will never fail a creature in need!" Reiner reassured the probably very confused crab as he continued to vigorously dig. Well, except the time he failed every living soul in the world when he was defeated and enslaved by the Dark Empress, but all the more reason to succeed now. Saving this crab was perhaps more important than liberating everyone in the world from her villainy!"...." Minerva's expression couldn't be any more blank if you erased all her features. "Aren't you two royalty? Why are you digging through the sand and searching so desperately? Do you think this crab incapable without your intervention? This is natural selection, you know. If it can't survive on its own-""Aha! A shell!" Reiner quite literally dove headfirst into the sand to grasp the shell he seemed to unearth, as though it may sink away if he didn't act quickly! And rather than pulling it out the way he came, he just went straight up, unearthing with sand cascading down his head and torso, and holding up a crab shell. "All right, now it's time-!" Then the shell perked up, the crab that was apparently living in it currently showing itself. "...Oh! This home is occupied! Were you trapped under there? There you are!" He said, gently putting the crab down onto the ground. It skittered around a little, looking around as if it had been stuck for a long time. "Ah, isn't it cute? Crabs are like the spiders of the sea!" He raised his toy shovel once more. "But the job isn't done!" And there he went, right back into his serious task, as the crab he apparently rescued watched him with an apparent mix of interest and bewilderment."..." Minerva sighed. "Why don't you just ask Azura or Annette to help you? You know... the two mermaids? Don't they seem better equipped than you for this task?" That was perhaps the more logical idea, especially since they both loved sealife too, but what exactly about this scene made Minerva think "logic" was dictating the siblings' actions?

  Javik would have the unfortunate experience of a slender finger prodding suddenly at his back rather aggressively, if not annoyingly! "Hello, Broodling.." She mocked in a hushed, quiet voice. As he turned to face her, Annette's innocent smile began to turn into a small grin. "The timing couldn't be anymore perfect. I'm so glad they are such softies for the beloved little creatures, it gives me time to interrogate you! " She stepped forward, that same finger that earlier prodded his back moments ago, would now poke at his mask in the most annoying way possible! "I heard a little of that conversation, and it sounded like you were talking about Reiner and I. Am I riiiight? Hmmm?! Just what did you say, Javik Strife? " She looked into his ...eye intensely, even for one such as Javik, her intimidating look tended to get under the skin of just about anyone faced with those eyes. Could he muster up the stregngth to lie or ignore her prying? "If you won't answer, maybe you can answer this..You're a guy, you boys talk often. So, does he ever talk about me? More so, do you think it possible, the hero can fall for the Dark Empress?! "

Javik Strife Javik jumped a bit as the finger prodded at his back, and the surprise was quickly replaced by irritation, both that she managed to sneak up on him and that she was poking him so annoyingly! "Don't you have a world to rule over?" He asked with a flat, sarcastic tone. It really was true that basically everyone had seen their little duel, it attracted such a big audience! "You two should look into acting professionally. Then you'd be too busy to annoy me." He was such a charming person. It was a wonder where he got that from! "Shouldn't you be helping them? Your mother loves pathetic creatures like that too, right? She'd be disappointed to know you're here, TALKING at me instead of wasting your time like them." And she had to keep being annoying! After a few pokes of his mask, he swatted her hand away. She may not be able to see his face, but it wasn't hard to tell she was getting under his skin! Then came the beginning of her little interrogation, and her so intense stare. "...You think you're going to scare me?" He asked defiantly. Yet, as she continued to give him that look... He had to wonder if this island got hotter all of a sudden. She'd notice he was starting to actually sweat beneath her stare! Why did she look so intense? Why was this stupid elf's intimidation working on him?? His heart skipped a beat. "...I-I just asked if he thought you had a thing for him!!" He finally responded desperately, her stare breaking down his bravery in a matter of seconds! "You two seem close, so I just- I was just- it was just a question! S-stop looking at me like that, for ******** sake!" He let out a grunt, exhaling sharply and shaking his head. God, this girl was good! He started to calm down a little more as she continued speaking. "...So, you do, huh. He seemed to think you were only into girls, what happened to that? I mean, if you're gonna pick any ONE guy to fall for, is Reiner of all people really the one?" He didn't really care, but it was pretty shocking to him! "I figured if Reiner ever got with somebody, it would be like, their fifth or sixth pick for a partner, not the first guy they ever had a thing for." He clearly had a high opinion of the guy! "I mean, come on, have you met him?" Nothing but unending compliments from Javik! "Does he talk about you? I don't know, what is this, middle school? What's in it for me if I tell you?" Oh now he was just all bravery again! "...And didn't you just enslave the "Hero"? Why don't you just go demand he get with you? Knowing him, he'd just give that dumb smile and go "all right!"" He mimicked him with a very unflattering voice. "...Well, you two are annoying enough for each other, that's for sure. Hey, you know what? I hope you two do get together. Better he gets with you than my sister." That was the LAST thing he wanted! "They seem pretty close though, better start wooing him soon, princess." (( OOC: ))

That little jump was quite the amusing reaction, even better then what she had anticipated. Such a serious fellow he was, it wasn't always easy to cause HIM to jump in surprise. "Heh heh, someone' s weaker then I thought..So easily scared, is Ariel rubbing off on you? " She said with a amused smirk, laughing. "Oh, the world can wait. They begged for mercy so I decided to give them more time. This is far more important! " Putting a hand to her hip, she began to glare into his crimson red eyes."Is that so!? Do you want to be fed to the sharks smart one?! " She crossed her arms in mild irritation. It was truly a wonder what Ariel saw in this boring, grumpy RUDE one. "There is enough of them to find one silly shell. They are more likely to find it on the surface of the water, or down the beach, but whatever! They'll figure it out. I'm in no rush to rescue the creature. It won't die that quick with La'riah protecting it. Anyway, who cares?! I want answers from you, it's all that matters! ---And I will get them, one way or the other, Javik. " There began that look, though even more intimidating then before, even a little terrifying! Annette liked talking big, but the reality was she wouldn't actually do anything to hurt anyone, still, it didn't stop her from getting to her poor victims. "I do..You're heart rate is elevated already! " She smirked at him, all the while staring him down like he was a sort of prey. "Oh, really now..Hm..And what did HE say? What does he think?! " The more interested she became, the more that stare of hers intensified, as if she were doing it on purpose now, to further irritate him. Clearly he wasn't enjoying it! "Hmph! Well, clearly he was wrong, wasn't he? Flirting with the girls was a way of taking my mind off him. It worked for a while, but now, nothing works. I hoped he might say something,but the big softie that he is will probably never get the nerve to bring up a question like that to his BEST friend! " Rather she was his best friend or not, Annette sure seemed to see it that way! "What's in it for you? Is not sending you to the deep a good enough reason? You shouldn't test me, it won't be the smartest thing you've ever done! " She shook her head, giving him an annoyed stare. "Uh huh. No! I'm going to see that everything is done right, it's Reiner.He's a proper prince, and I can respect that.." At what he said last, Annette rolled her eyes. "That's amusing. As if! Hiyori is far to busy with her technical stuff to look at any guys. She's far to interested in her computer screens. " It was true, did he even wonder where she had been most of the duration of this little island retreat? It wasn't outside, it wasn't on the beach, it was inside Azura's house where she worked away on her computer, keeping watch of the Tear and other locations.
It was a wonder if Azura or Annette would show THIS much determination to save this poor little crab, maybe Azura, but she doubted her enthusiasm would match Reiner's own. It was really very cute how into it he got, it even helped to bring a smile to her face and ease her own worry! "D-Does that really matter? The life of this cute little creature is more important then who we are! Besides that, well, it wouldn't live very long without it's shell, and if we are having a hard time finding a new one, don't you think it's impossible for the crab to find one too? At least, I can protect it while we look! " Looking back down, just in time to see the sand collapse over Reiner's head, caused her to giggle softly. Even that didn't dampen his spirit at all. "Oh! You found one! " But there happiness was short lived when it became obvious that shell was already another crabs home. "He,he..Well, at least you saved that one..I'm going to walk further down and see if any might be laying on the sand! "

Nyx Minerva opened her mouth to reply to La'riah, but her eyes suddenly shot open, in a look of pure dread.
"...Oh, hello, sister." The voice from behind her wasn't necessary, as it was clear she knew she had arrived.Minerva stumbled forward in a mad rush towards Reiner and La'riah, before gathering pink energy around her hands, throwing it out and creating a Matrix that encompassed the three of them."...Aww, why so skittish?" The newcomer smirked, tilting her head. "You seem so uneasy all of a sudden...""Leave this place, Nyx! Within my Matrix, you can't Dominate anybody.""Ah yes, you're right about that. Everyone in your Matrix is safe... Your power can counteract mine so effectively. But... there seems to be an entire island of people who aren't within your Matrix. Don't you agree, my new friends?""Yes, Mistress Nyx..." Zane was one of the ones who stood behind her, his voice as hollow as his eyes."Yes, Mistress Nyx..." Soleil echoed in the same tone."Ahaha, these two were particularly easy. Bad time to be so attracted to anything with a pair of legs, heehee...""...Let them go!" Reiner demanded, stepping forward and gripping the handle of his Light Brand. "Can we not resolve this peacefully? I don't want to hurt you...""So thoughtful. But you won't. She won't let you... will you?"And there stood Exemplar Metatron, the same hollow look in her eyes. "No, Mistress Nyx." Orpheus said, grabbing the handle of her blade."No..." Minerva stepped back. "How could I have let this happen? We have to warn the others!""Oh, don't worry! I already did that for you." And from where they stood on the beach, they would see emerging from the forest, a small army of their fellow Avalanche members, marching like an army of puppets to the same tune no one else could hear. "So very easy to dominate... what legendary heroes, heehee..."Reiner's eyes scanned the small army, and he didn't count his father among them--nor did he see... "...Annette!" Reiner turned and broke into a sprint."Reiner, stop!!" Reiner was thrown backwards right before he got out of the Matrix. "If you leave my Matrix, she'll Dominate you, too! We must escape!""But, Annette is still-!""You can't do anything to help her if you're under her control!""...!!" Reiner barely hesitated before breaking out into a sprint once again, this time successfully exiting the Matrix."Damn it!""Aww, isn't he cute? He's the "Hero" after all, it wouldn't be living up to his title if he let his Dark Empress be captured. Heehee..."

He shouted at Annette.Drawing Light Brand, Reiner slashed at the Nyx who had her back turned to him, but his blade only met air as she faded into shadow. "Javik!""It's too late! Go! Or I'll... Gghhh...!!""...!" Reiner gritted his teeth, grabbing Annette by the hand and hurrying back the way he came, trying to lead her back to safety. "We have to go--NOW!"Minerva cupped her hands together as soft magic emitted from the opening, and she whispered into it. "If anyone is still conscious, follow my voice. Find us now. We must escape." And anyone who hadn't already been Dominated by Nyx would hear it, the very few that would have managed to overcome her mind control, and they would know instinctively which direction to follow. It was a longshot if they could make it to her or not, but if she said nothing, they'd be taken eventually regardless. "...La'riah, get on the ship.
