Feline woke from a deep sleep that had featured a jumble of dreams involving green haired angels and crashing boats. Looking around she suffered a moment of confusion as she tried to place the room she was in.
This is not home, Feline thought worriedly trying to find a clue in the room that would tell her where she was. A clam motif in the corner caught her eye, it was then she remembered the Benevolent Order and how she had fallen into this group. She was somewhat surprised to find herself tucked into a bed in a room located in the temple, from what she remembered she usually slept in a tent in the temple ground outside.
Feline tried to focus in on the events that had led her here, but had to leave off when doing so caused a sharp pain in her head that threatened to turn into a migraine. Gingerly sitting up in the bed and she stretched out her wings. As they reached their full breadth she felt a moment of surprise and was pummeled with visions of falling uncontrollable with intense pain in her right wing. She had to get a hold of the wall to steady herself until the vision went away leaving only confusion, her wing was perfectly fine, despite her memories otherwise.
Feline went over to the window out of habit to find away out of this room. Opening it up she found it too small to fit out of.
Why do these people not believe in balconies! She thought in frustration, not looking forward to walking out of this place when her wings were perfectly fine. At the thought of her wings she was again hit with a small moment of pain and dizziness that seemed more real than a dream and yet she could find no harm to her body.
Quietly opening the door she was surprised to run straight into a woman dressed in the Order’s robe that was making her way in.
“I’m sorry,” Feline said quietly, trying to slip around the woman,
“I’ll just be leaving now.”Feline had not gotten more than two steps away when the woman caught her arm. “You are not going anywhere missy!” The woman huffed, “I’ve got orders to keep watch over you till the High Priestess can look over you to make sure you are ok. And I’m not one to go back on my duties so you will get back into that bed right now and stay there till the High Priestess gets back from wherever they all left to.” And with that the woman started to drag Feline back into the room.
“They?” Feline asked, slightly resisting and finally pulling her arm out of the woman’s grasp.
“Who has gone and what is going on here?”“The High Priestess and the Professor left a hour or two ago with a couple others I don’t know and they left in a hurry. “ The woman reached out to grab Feline’s arm again trying to take advantage of her momentary confusion. “Now it’s not my job to know why, it’s just my job to keep you in that bed. Off we go missy.”
Feline managed to barley evade the imposing woman’s grasp.
Missy! If I am called that again I think I will have to smack her! Feline resisted the anger wanting to fill her body like she was taught as a young child. “Never act in anger” her instructors and advisors used to always say, “Calm planning will get you further every time.“
Feline paused as a thought hit her,
Everyone is gone.
“What about the Overseer?”The woman huffed again, “That good for nothing man ran off after that whole messed he created.”
Feline was struck again with images of a boat wreaking. She felt small and confused in a childlike way. At that moment she wanted more than anything to just be home and away from this crazy place.
She smiled soothingly at the woman who had been doing her darndest to get her back into that room,
“You go on Mam, I find myself hungry and want to go to the kitchens to get something to eat.” Feline was hoping that she could trick the woman into letting her go.
The woman smiled back, “No worries Missy!” Feline flinched at being called that again, but held herself back from violence. “I’ve got some right here!” and with a deft move of a woman who had raised several children, the lady managed to sweep Feline back into the room with the food and shut the door solidly behind her.
Feline fumed for a moment, picking up a roll from the tray and throwing it through the window. Looking back down at the food tray for some more ammo a small bottle of oil caught her eye. She laughed in triumph. Escape had been provided by her jailer. Feline quickly poured the oil on her wings and rubbed it in.
Now in theory she should have slid easily through this window, but the reality was far different. Each inch she won through that window was accompanied with minor scratches, a torn robe and the loss of a few feathers. When she finally fell out into the bushes below she was relived to have made it out and happy that the grounds seemed to be deserted at the moment.
Everyone really IS gone and the Overseer has deserted us…me…my one friend I thought I had, she was hit with that overwhelming need to find her homeland again.
If there is one place I can find the spells that will get me back, it will be in Panda’s study. I must be quick about it though since I don’t know how long he will be gone for. With that thought she quickly took off into the sky and flew over to the Practice Hall.
Feline reached the Hall quickly and found sneaking back to the study fairly easy since the Hall had few people in it right now.
Walking up to Panda’s door she prepared herself to break in,
How hard could this be? I was a great sorceress in my homeland. I’m sure I can handle this easily. There was a niggling thought at the back of her head that tried to remind her that she had lost all those powers when she came to this land, but she was too focused in on opening the door to pay much attention to it.
