[-Traverse Town | First District | Gummi Hangar-]

Baitos continued on his way through the first district past the various groups, and disappeared into the Gummi Hangar. He entered through one of the back doors and walked across a few catwalks before finding his ship of interest. Pausing for a moment, he reached into his tool belt and pulled out a notebook marked "Parts Manifest" and read through it. He leaned up against the railing of the catwalk to skim through it to make sure he got everything. It was only after flipping the notebook shut that the railing gave in and Baitos was sent tumbling backwards over the catwalk.

"Ahh!" The Inuwa yelled out loud as he fell for a few quick seconds and then landed on the flat top of Xelizar's ship. Baitos grumbled and groaned as he stirred, only managing to get a couple of scrapes, and what would most likely end up a massive bruise. Rolling onto his back, the Inuwa lay there to collect himself.

~Window~

[Traverse Town::First District]

Window took his eyes off of the scene for a second to look at Youni. Her query wasn't surprising, since she did not seem to know the conventions that dictated the position of children in daily interactions, which included their role in the negotiation of dangerous situations. (Dangerous situations seemed to be a daily interaction in Traverse Town.) But, as he prepared a long-winded and semi-hypocritical explanation about Youni's presence and her lack of defense mechanisms (of which the intelligent young girl might have pointed out Window's own absence of physical talent), Aerith intervened with her own directive. Window began to follow her back into the restaurant while she talked. Leave? So soon? His previous tumultuous thoughts began to bubble and froth again under the mental lid he had clamped down, but as a result the unreleased pressure traveled to his stomach where it began to physically churn instead.

However, with Aerith's next question, everything stopped---Window's feet, his brain, perception of time, even his stomach. His mouth tried working. It succeeded in style; it was his voice that didn't want to cooperate, which resulted in Window's oral orifice uselessly (but spectacularly) opening and closing. Realizing the problem, Window snapped his jaw shut and decided to think of something to say first. "Er, uhhh, me? Tag along?" The sentence didn't quite come out right, but at least speech facilities were returning. "Um, I mean, but...well, where do I begin? First of all, I'm not sure if I'm the guy for the job. I don't normally take care of people younger than 18 years old, and I wouldn't know how to take care of any special, uh, needs that may arise..." Window trailed off as he realized he had slipped out of polite speech. This made him even more flustered, and his face rapidly flushed but then paled. He held up his hands apologetically and waved them backand forth. "A thousand apologies for my rudeness! I, uh, I'm, I mean I am worried about my own abilities to skillfully take charge of a child when I hardly know how to handle myself in this endeavor; like Youni, I am new to this universe; it would be as if a mute were attempting to instruct another in speech lessons. Is it normal for one so young to travel with strangers? Youni must be very precious to you, and were I in your position I would be wary of giving my young charge to persons you met only the day before. Even I am unsure of the moral composition of my traveling companions, which only time can unfold.

"This is not to say that I would not relish Youni's presence; I...do feel like...I could be one to provide a more formal education for her. Ironically, I taught others back on my homeworld, though more as a student instructing other students. Still, where would I begin? And..."
Too many questions and apologies and doubts crowded Window's mind for him to get them all out. And only seconds ago was he worried about how he would protect Youni and everyone else if trouble arose!

[ First District : Courtyard -> Café ]

Aerith rolled her eyes lightly, laughing just under her breath as she intended to cut him off. "You worry far too much."

"You are right in that Youni is relatively new to the universe like yourself...but sadly, there is only so much she can learn on this world, with us," she explained; they were now back in front of the Café. "And she has reached that point. She has reached the point where our lessons here are... repetitive. She has reached the point where she must learn what it is to live- free will."

"She expressed to me that she wanted to travel with you... her first such example of free will," she said, locking eyes with Window, her own eyes showing what could really only be described as a mother's determination. "If you do not let her come with you, you might as well tell her she is to remain stagnant."

"She wants to go with you, and there's nothing more she can learn here," Aerith said, smiling- it was a calm, assuring smile... like she knew there really wasn't a choice in the matter. "Would you really deny her the chance to continue her education?"

~Window~

[Traverse Town::First District-->In front of Cafe]

Aerith's bright, blue eyes locked Window in place, filling his vision. Again, the world around him faded out of perception, but it was softly aided by her comforting, enveloping azure gaze. It was hypnotic. In that instant, Window's doubts and fears were erased by Aerith's words; she made perfect sense in the logic of the moment. He suddenly felt like he could do this. Searching in those blue depths, Window realized how hard this must be for Aerith, who had been like a mother to Youni. He glanced down at the equally unsettling eyes of the girl at Aerith' side. However, the gold and purple held nothing behind them, and they offered little support or reassurance. They were just...reflections. Empty reflections. But...maybe there was something stirring behind those mirrors that he just couldn't see yet. Had she really asked to go with Window?

Window instinctively straightened up and set his mouth into a determined line. "A man of manners would never deny the wishes of another. I simply hope that you have informed her of the dangers of travel with us. This is a strange life, one of which I have hardly begun to understand. However," Window added, allowing the smallest of smiles to grace his face (had he ever truly smiled in front of them before?), "it would be incredibly more exciting if Youni were there to share her educational experiences with me.

"I will go into the cafe to inform the others of our departure. I do not know where the gummi rests, so if you could kindly lead us there if you know its location or tell us where to find someone who does...then we shall leave matters here. If you two wish to share a private farewell...well, we will be out momentarily, but it will be a few minutes yet."
Window walked past the two to enter into the cafe.

Youni watched all that transpired between her Charge and soon-to-be New Charge without so much as a single reaction at first. Blinked only the necessary amount to keep her eyes watered, glancing back and forth as Aerith did her best to convince the young man to take Youni under his unsure wing, and on their journey. Some of the things Aerith was saying about her were very interesting-
- and perhaps, exactly right.
“-she has reached that point. She has reached the point where our lessons here are... repetitive. She has reached the point where she must learn what it is to live- free will."
Free will.
What was free will? Was it really connected to that feeling inside she had described to Aerith earlier? Was it really- Youni’s own will, beginning to take shape?
When Window looked at her, it was unclear wether or not he could see this ‘will’ they were speaking of- but he seemed convinced. With his agreement to Aeirths request, Youni’s fate was sealed.

"Xions theme" aka "The Void of Thought"

It was strange, suddenly it was like something had broken. A snapping, sensation as Youni realized that she was to go with Window now... and leave Aerith behind.
And not just her.

Merlin.
Cid.
Leon.
Yuffie.
Youni would not be seeing them either.
The triplets in the item shop...or everyone else in the town.
They may never, see each other again.

Looking from where Window disappeared through the door, the girl met Aerith’s azure gaze with her own mismatched one. In the silence that passed between them, the gravity of the situation seemed to get more and more real, heavy, until the silence- almost unbearable- was broken by the girls voice- which could almost pass with a slight undertone of uncertainty. Almost.

“Aerith? Is this- really goodbye?”

' Everyone. Youni is leaving..'

' You need to leave! Go far away! Far away where they cannot find you!'

'Far away..'

'- far away from this place. I'm sorry I cannot go with you.'

'Goodbye.'
' What is Goodbye?'

~Rasxa~

Life is an Illusion, Therefore, We all Believe the Same Lie

~Traverse Town--> First District-->Cafe~

Rasxa watched as Aerith stalked outside with Window on her heels. Should I be helping? He thought, unsure of how to proceed with one of the first ones he met headed out the door, the other one, Solaris, catching Rasxa's attention by being quiet and by Nalo wrapping his arms around the guys neck. His aquamarine eyes blinked at the spectacle of a man with bunny ears hanging with a boy that had strange purple hair. Rasxa's head snapped to the front of the cafe as he saw Window stroll back in, unharmed. I guess my interference wasn't needed? He thought, sort of relieved. "So... did everything go well out there? What happened? Where's Youni and Aerith?" He asked, seeming concerned about what happened, knowing that he didn't do anything to help.

[ First District : In Front of Café ]

Aerith nodded a thanks to Window before turning to Youni, a wistful smile on her face.

"Never goodbye, Youni," she responded, her smile impossibly reassuring, as only Aerith could have accomplished. She embraced the young girl in a hug. "It's never goodbye. It's just that we'll see each other at a later time."

After a moment in the embrace, Aerith pulled away, and her eyes, while misty, remained strong and, overall, happy. She pulled out an envelope from her pocket and handed it to Youni; the front of the envelope had her name on it, meaning it was meant for her. Within the envelope was a simple card, which they had explained to Youni some time ago (during someone's birthday) was something given as a term of fond affection in order to, in a way, solidify memories, much as a picture was meant to make them visible.

The card contained notes from all of them: Aerith, Merlin, Yuffie, Leon, and even Cid, all wishing her well and that, if she was ever unsure where she should be, that she need only follow her heart to find them again.

The card also contained a picture of the entire group, Youni included. Youni could recognize the picture- she had drawn a flawless copy of it using her abilities, which they had kept in the main room of their small apartment.

"From all of us. Even Leon added something in there," she explained with a smile. "Wait to open it until you've left the world. Speaking of... let's go see your new friends."

With that, Aerith walked into the Café (inconspicuously wiping her eyes when no one had a chance to see), holding the door open for Youni to enter.

~Window~

[Traverse Town::First District Cafe]

The noise in the cafe buzzed around Window's ears, settling on him like a heavy blanket. Many pairs of eyes turned toward him as he walked in the door, but seeing that he was not hurt, most of them turned back, satisfied that whatever was going on outside was of no real consequence. Window addressed the group quietly but firmly, "Companions, we are to depart soon. Please complete your meal, and we shall leave. Does anyone require extra time to gather belongings? We shall wait. And, to answer your query, Rasxa, it appears that Merlin is capable of containing the situation, though we may not be able to say a proper farewell since he is preoccupied with the troublemaker. But, everything is fine. Aerith and Youni are outside, which brings me to my second piece of news: Youni is to join us on our travels. I do hope that you will all see that she is well-cared for on this adventure." With that, he silently sat down and finished the rest of his meal, savoring the exotic flavor one last time. For once, he had a clear mind with no thoughts running around. He just enjoyed this inner peace, an island of silence on a sea of babble. Window couldn't afford to think about anything. What was done, was done. There was no turning back now.

Aerith and Youni came in a few moments later as Window finished. He stood and looked around, seeing if the others were ready. "I believe I am prepared to leave whenever you are ready, Aerith."

Nalo

"Of course Solaris. No need to be so formal 'bout it. We're happy to have your company. Of course we still need to find Cid's Gummi Ship, but I have no worries for our adventure!" Nalo hardly noticed Window and Youni vacate the table. He was too engrossed in the smells still radiating from the food on the table. Ergo, his stomach started to growl; he wished he had made an order, himself. Nalo stole a bit from Window's plate grinning to Solaris and Rasxa and he quickly gulped it down, just as they returned to the table. "Well then, friends, it appears that we are going, eh?"

{Ignorance is bliss... until reality throws a Heartless siege at you.}

[Traverse Town : Gummi Ship Hangar -> Inside the Gummi]

"The name's Soryuju," he responded, somewhat put on edge by the sudden closeness. He knew only that Thales had met Suzuran some time the night before and wondered if having him along would be a good idea- what skills did he have? He ignored the hand shake but nodded in the man's direction. "I'm a bit busy, and you might want to take a seat- we'll be taking off in a few seconds."

Indeed, the engine began to roar to life, the ship itself humming with anticipation as it slowly oriented itself to face directly upward in the center of the hangar; the two circular metal doors (one on the floor and one on the ceiling) opened up, the one in the ceiling revealing the starry sky above. However, the gravity within the ship was oddly not affected at all.

"It travels, my rhmying dwarf friend, using magical combustion, releasing the explosive energy in a single direction to propel the ship in the opposite direction," he explained, and gave the nod to Kuumaru, who activated the countdown. The ship announced they had five second 'til lift off.

On zero, the ship rocketed up, sending anyone not securely seated flying into the back wall (which, for that sole purpose, had some slight cushioning on the walls).

Everyone in the First District could see the peculiarly-large Gummi Ship rocket into the sky, becoming nothing but a twinkle within seconds.

"And we've safely entered the Lanes Between," Soryuju announced, still playing at the controls. "We should arrive at Wonderland in about 15 minutes-" At that point, Kuumaru activated the Haste gummi Soryuju had let them use. The knight chuckled. "10, make that 10 minutes."

{You look like you fell down a tree and hit every possible branch on the way down.}

[Traverse Town > Lanes Detween :: Gummi Ship]

Suzu seated herself in the empty seat that was diagonally right of her brother. She glanced around the flight deck and a little further down, seeing all the people and creatures bob their heads as they moved around the gummi. They sure had picked up a peculiar crew and quite a number of them too. She wondered what her father would say about her so easily throwing her trust at different people. She definitely knew her brother was against it, but he kept his words on the matter to himself.

Either way, things were different now. It was just her and Kuu anymore. The geomancer looked over to her brother, watching him as he started up the ship. Things were one their way to change, and whereas Suzu somewhat enjoyed the company, she worried for her brother. Was he-

The ship violently jumped forward, jarring her thoughts. She still wasn't used to that like her brother had. Suzu glanced over to her twin, a giant smile planted across his face and she vacantly wondered how long they'd each be able to carry such expressions.

~Rasxa~

Life is an Illusion, Therefore, We all Believe the Same Lie

~Traverse Town--> First District-->Cafe~

Rasxa nodded to Windows explanation. "That seems reasonable. Well, I don't really need to gather anything up, I have very few possessions anyways, comes from a whole lot of traveling. I'm ready whenever you guys are." He said by carefully climbing out of his position at the table. He was about to head towards the door so he could lean against the wall beside it, when Aerith walked in, holding the door for Youni to come in as well. I'm just wondering how we are going to handle all the battles that are certain to ensue, especially whilst we look for those certain things that we are looking for. I shall do my best to protect them, but I can only do so much. He thought, standing exactly where he was and crossed his arms, for lack of anything better to do with them. The strange pulling sensation that Rasxa got when Window passed him before was becoming increasingly irritating. This pulling sensation it seems to tug me towards Window, but why? I know that I have no heart and that makes for some very strange events, but he is whole, isn't he? Rasxa wondered briefly, peering at Window out of the corner of his eye.

(( you did just fine Kyle- thank you ^_^ this scene was so cute! It made me tear jerk. And the envelop isn’t even open!))
‘ Never Goodbye.’
‘- Just that we’ll see each other at a later time.’

She memorized everything. Every line, every curve, every color, from the tint of pink in her cheeks and the mist in her eyes- ‘mist?’, Youni memorized her by the heart she had plenty of room to fill. From that moment on, no matter what transpired after it-
Aerith’s visage would remain forever in a place by herself.
Forever.
When given the envelope- Youni wondered what it could be. Curiosity, the only emotion that she apparently possessed thus far, clawed at the question- seeking its desired answer, but as soon as her fingers pressed the paper, the envelope was pocketed as requested.
Youni followed Aerith into the cafe where Window, Nalo, Solaris, and someone who’s name she had yet to acquire ( Rasxa) where already rising to depart.
“This one is –“ a pause, and a glance to the woman holding the door,”- Ready? Yes?”

[Lanes Between>Traverse Town]

Veone had never prized the scientist on his world as being all that great and science on his home mainly consisted of figuring out the best why to blow something into pieces, so when he was told that they had built a ship, he was of course skeptical but surprisingly it didn't explode on launch and he as almost ready to give them praise up until his current dilemma. His ship had all the grace of a brick shot from a cannon, while it was essentially pointed toward the brightest star in the sky he was fairly certain he was destined to drift the void for all eternity.

Veone cut the engines off and let his craft drift forward as he thought about his problem, there was a planet within view, though it was to far to see any detail. "How do I get this, over there..." He wasn't sure what to do, he thought about getting out of the ship and trying to maneuver it but he didn't know if he could survive the void. He watched the planet quietly, it looked as if something had just left it but he was too lost in thought to concern himself with the ship that was about to head past. If the other ship passed close enough, his ship would be an interesting sight to behold, looking more like a floating tank with its six cannons, five rocket engines and not a single maneuver gummi.

Fortuna

[Sanctum of Twilight > ???]

Fortuna chuckled at her teacher, giving him a small salute and a wave before opening a dark portal. "Well then, my ever cryptic teacher, I'll go ahead and be on my way then. Wish you luck with whatever mysterious thing you do next."

She hopped into the dark corridor without another word, the portal staying for another few seconds before vanishing in a swirl of black and purple. As she appeared at her new, unknown location, her thoughts trailed back to the former Keyblade training zone, and what had happened to it all those years before and what it looked like before that evil monster Xanatos destroyed it. If she found him...she would have revenge.
