Summer smiled at him after he ruffled her hair she said, "Hey, my hair is messed up enough." She then heard the shout as well and knew that something was wrong with Esmeralda for she knew that where the sound came from was from Esmeralda's room. "I don't know but I have to go see if Esmeralda is alright. That shout came from her room. You stay here or come with me if you want," Summer said as she walked out of the room and headed next door. She then knocked on the door and slide it open at the same time. She poked her head into the door and saw Esmeralda sitting at the desk. She then walked into the room and asked, "Are you ok?"

Esmeralda kept her back to the door when she heard it opening, her face still hidden in her hands. "Sure. Fine. Never been better. Everything's great." The raw, grieving bitterness in her voice sounded dangerously volatile - if Summer didn't go, it was quite possible that the brunette would blow up at her, just taking out the anger that had come hard on the heels of grief on the first person she saw. God only knew what would come from that. "Please leave. I'm not fit for company right now, and if I hear one more word from anyone I'm going to rip their heads off."

Phoenix watched Ariel and Kelly for several seconds, then idly went back to grazing. It was clear he didn't understand nor have any interest in understanding the female experience. Roman had to agree with the stallion - birth and nursing all looked like something he would gladly let the women in the world deal with. Men had it pretty good, he decided.

"Maybe an old nail or something, sticking out of the paddock boards," said Roman with a shrug. "It can't have been too bad, or else..." He trailed off. If it had been really bad, they might not have a Kelly. Or an Ariel. There was a frightening thought. "But she's fine, so obviously it isn't too big a deal anymore. Hey, Kell?" The mare whickered a bit, seeming pleased by the nickname. Roman smiled faintly.

At Kahlilia's question, Roman cocked a brow. "No, I don't wear a watch unless I'm stop-watching," he said cheerfully. Expounding his point, he continued, "It's sort of uncomfortable, and you know how it is when you have a watch - you're always obsessed with the time." Straightening his arm, he poked her lightly on the nose. "You, for example, must once have been a watch-wearer." He turned Phoenix towards the barn as well, giving the stallion plenty of lead rope in case the horse wanted to graze some more.

"Yeah, she probably will be," he said as he watched the filly. "She's too busy looking around right now to know it, but when she gets back to the barn she'll probably go straight to sleep. Just like a new baby." As they went back into the barn, Roman reluctantly turned his gaze away from Ariel and Kahlilia in order to open Phoenix's stall door so that the stallion could go inside.

Summer thought about what she was going to do for a bit then decided to stay in the room with her. She stepped into the room and closed the door quietly behind her. She didn't really say anything to Esmeralda but instead walked over to the desk and placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.

Esmeralda jerked violently, sending Summer a piercing glare through agonized dark eyes. "Please. Leave," she grated. "I don't want you here. I don't want anyone here. Go." The sick misery in her balled itself up and heated into anger. Why wouldn't Summer leave her alone? All she wanted was to grieve in peace. It was no one's business but hers!

She was beginning to tremble under the hand Summer had on her shoulder, trying to keep from screaming at the girl and making her get out. It wasn't Summer's fault that she had come in at a bad time, she thought, holding it back only through sheerest willpower. But it wasn't going to stop her from getting angry if the girl didn't leave right now.

Summer just kept her hand there at seeing how Esmeralda was reacting to her being there, "Esmeralda I don't leave friends who are as upset as you alone and if you want to rant and rave and shout at me then go ahead. It'll help whatever is bothering you, but not much. If you don't scream and yell at me then you will at someone else so go ahead and scream all you want to I'm not leaving." Summer said all of this gently and in a soothing voice. Summer knew that Esmeralda was upset but wasn't going to ask her what was wrong again, "You don't have to tell me whats wrong its none of my business, however, I'm not leaving you alone."

Kahlilia seemed to pick up the two boy's 'agreement' for some reason and smiled to herself, trying not to laugh. Well, of course, she might get another inaudible grumbling from Roman again in response, but she had the humor of a little girl. Sometimes she couldn't help herself.

However, the girl did giggle when Roman poked her nose playfully.
Maybe. She said to him teasingly, a slow and pretend suspicious tone.
In truth, she did wear watches every once in a while, but did not and was not going to during the summer. For one, she hadn't even brought one, and she would probably spend all her time ... looking at the time. That was a weird thought.

Proving Roman's previous musings, once Lily had released the two horses from the halter and made sure they were comfortable, Ariel curled up by her mother and was asleep in a few minutes. The girl giggled a little again, and watched for a minute to make sure both seemed all right. Thankfully, they were, and she walked over to Ben's stable and flushed when she realized he was still in the paddock.
I'm going to go get Ben. She said evenly, and after a moment or two exited the barn to go find Benvolio and bring him back to the barn.

The stallion was trotting around lightheartedly, enjoying his free time. When Kahlilia clicked at him to come over, he hesitated and twitched his ears as though to say 'Already?!' but obediently walked over to her and nudged her shoulder. Looking out of the corner of her eye, Lily noticed that the mare was still in the paddock, laying down in the shade. How long had she been there? Although she was a little concerned, she really didn't want to risk bringing her in with Benvolio and have Phoenix get excited.

Xavier decided to stay in the room for now, because the previous shout of agony had startled him and there was no way he would want to confront any person in a mood like that. Unless something bad happened and he felt the need to be protective, he was going to stay.

Standing and putting his tee-shirt back on, Xavier tried to listen to the conversation next door. He was only able to hear undistuinguishable mumblings, but he could hear and feel the tension rising in them. This, of course, reinforced his decision to stay in the room for the time being.

Even despite his growing fear of angry girls, the boy was definitely starting to grow curious. Currently, he was unaware of Esmeralda's health condition and so he thought her anger had something to do with him. As most guys may do in a relationship, he was slightly scared and saddened by that, but nevertheless he stayed in his spot. What was going on in there?

Esmeralda actually shrieked when Summer still refused to leave. "Just go!" Knocking Summer's hand away, she got to her feet so fast she knocked the chair over. "Why are you so blind? I don't want you here!" From her standing position, the tremble in her hands and the sick fury in her eyes was more obvious. "Get out," she hissed, her hands tightening. She would not hit Summer. She would not take out the pain that way. If it was the only thing she could control, then so be it, but she would not ease the agony that way. "Please, just get out. I don't want you here right now."

Roman lifted a brow when Kahlilia smiled to herself. "Care to share the joke?" he asked, smiling a bit himself. It was good to see her looking relaxed and happy, although why that should be, he wasn't sure.

"I knew it," he announced a moment later, when she gave him her suspicious reply. "But see, isn't it easier just to pretend that time doesn't exist? We have all summer." His smile widening a bit, he repeated, "We have all summer. Time doesn't matter any more than that."

When she went out to get Ben, though, he wandered over to look at the filly. Ariel was curled up in the straw, snoozing away. It made him smile a bit. He wasn't in the least surprised - the baby had done a lot today, for her first trip out. Kelly, however, stuck her nose over the door to nuzzle and ask for attention. Even a mother could be allowed to want to be affectionate sometimes, figured Roman as he stroked the mare's muzzle and murmured soothingly to her.

Phoenix had his head out over the top of his stall door as well, watching the two of them with mild interest. He whickered lazily, but made no other sounds. Roman, however, glanced back at the horse with a smile. "Yes, boy. I'll come and fuss over you, too, don't worry. But I think your baby's mom deserves some attention too, don't you?"

(I've decided to make Summer really stubborn right now smile )

"I told you Esmeralda I'm not leaving you alone like this," Summer said her voice calm. Summer was doing her best to control the many feelings that where rushing through her right now. Sadness, anger, worry, all of these feelings and more where rushing through her as well as anguish for her friend who was so angry for a reason Summer couldn't even begin to understand.

((OOC: You know I'm not kidding, right? If Summer sticks around much longer, Esmeralda's going to hurt her. razz ))

Esmeralda's hand went to the desk and gripped the first thing it found, long and slim and metal. She threw it - not at Summer, exactly, but more in the girl's general direction. It winged past her and stuck in the wall. It happened to be a paper-cutter, of the kind designed to open envelopes, and if it had hit Summer, she could easily have been very badly hurt.

Esmeralda, however, didn't seem to realize this. That anger was blazing now, and it wanted a fight. It wanted something to soothe the grief that was kindling it. No matter how her rational mind screamed at her to calm down, there wasn't enough left of it at the moment for her to listen. "Leave," she whispered, her voice very quiet - almost deadly soft. "I can't deal with you right now. Go."

With an anguished whimper, she turned away. But the set of her shoulders and the way she moved made it clear that the violent anger that had led her to throw what was basically a knife at Summer was still in control.

((yeah yeah i know that smile ))

"Fine you want me to go, so be it," Summer said as she wiped the blood that was flowing down her check off. The paper-cutter had knicked her when Esmeralda threw it. "I hope you realize that whatever grief or anger you have you can't deal with it on your own and you need your friends." Summer then walked out of the door and slammed it behind her with enough force to make the windows rattle in her own room. She then walked to her room and opened the door and slammed it as well.

Esmeralda's long, weary sigh came out once Summer had left. Just as abruptly, the anger flowed away. She walked across to the paper-cutter and pulled it loose from the wall, which took some doing - she'd thrown hard. Staring at it blankly, she realized there was blood on it and the tip was broken pretty well beyond repair, although the broken edge was still razor-sharp.

She laughed shakily. How damned appropriate. It was a bloody, ruined mess, just like everything else now.

Carrying the paper-cutter gently, she set it back on the desk. Righting the chair, being almost obsessive about its placement, she sat back down, crossed her arms on top of the desk, and rested her head on them quietly. For the moment, she was grieving in peaceful silence, but should someone else come in, there was no guarantee that she would not flare up again. Having someone else see her in the first rush of grief was...shameful. Shame was a disgusting emotion to feel over something as natural as grief. And she reacted with anger to a lot of the more unsavoury emotions - it was practically in her blood.

( OOC // Uh, wow. xD - just came online -
I'll make Xavier go see Esmeralda when shes calmed down enough. He would be a little scardey-cat if he came in at the current moment. )

Kahlilia had smiled a little more and shrugged in the same coy manner, remembering just then how she and Esmeralda had acted suspiciously around Roman just after pranking Xavier. She wondered where he was now ...

The girl came back into the barn with Ben on a lead just as Roman gently encouraged Phoenix. Smiling, she asked playfully,
Is Phoenix jealous? It was a strange little thought, but it could be possible, right?

After taking off Ben's lead and making sure the stallion would be alright, Kahlilia let him back into his stall, closed the door and put the lead back into its proper place. Having done that, she walked over so that she was standing inbetween Phoenix's and Benvolio's stalls. Possibly eight feet from Roman, she smiled again playfully.
Its been so much fun, the things we've done ...

Xavier was walking, or pacing, around in the room worriedly. He'd heard the shriek and the sound of something sharp hitting the wall, and now he was getting pretty damn scared. Screw the tough guy act. Please don't ...

He flinched when he heard the first door slamming, and upon hearing the second walked towards the sound. Since the second slam was the door of this room, he had only walked a few steps. Even seven feet away from Summer, he could see the anger and worry in her face.
Summer, what happened? Looking at his girlfriend for a moment or two longer, he realized the blood on her cheek. Now even more worried, he swiped his jacket off the bed and put a warm, soft part of it up to her cheek. By now, he was holding her close, so that both of them could hear the other's heart beating. Had one or both of the girls hurt another in some sort of resulting anger? What had happened? What the hell had happened?

((OOC: XD I was kind of hoping that seeing Summer hurt would get him all riled up. That could have been fun.
And I...will wait to post for Esmeralda for now, since I'm in a hurry and there's not much for her to do except stay there and be emo.))

Roman had taken out one of Phoenix's brushes and was currently carefully getting the burrs out of the stallion's coat - and mane and tail. He murmured to the horse softly while he worked on it, knowing that it had to itch a lot. "Good boy. Don't worry, we'll have these out in no time." Phoenix shook his head and snorted, stomping one foot and swishing his tail. Roman chuckled. "I know it's uncomfortable, boy. Relax."

When Kahlilia came in and asked her question, he glanced over and grinned. "I think so. Strange, considering he's supposed to be such a tough guy." He stroked Phoenix's neck, which was now free of burrs.

As the girl came over, Phoenix stuck his nose out of the stall again and snorted, examining her as narrowly as if he'd never seen her before. He didn't seem to be afraid or angry, just mildly curious. And perhaps a bit annoyed that she was taking Roman's attention away from him, again. Roman, now working on getting the burrs out of the feathers in the horse's legs, didn't notice.

((Ok i'll make sure she goes back into the room and i didn't think of that it could have been fun.))

Summer stayed in Xavier's arms for a moment longer then gently pulled away from him. "Nothing that you need to worry about, love. And don't worry about my cut it'll heal." She then smiled at him and walked toward the door. "I have to go make somethings up to Esmeralda I'll be back in a bit and don't worry everything will be fine." She then walked to Esmeralda's room and opened the door, "I've decided to stay even if you try to kill me again."

((will that work out? lol))

((OOC: No, no, I don't want Summer back. She can relax and not be murdered. I need Xavier to come in so Esmeralda can try to kill him. xp ))

Esmeralda's hand went to the paper-cutter instantly again, her body going tense and coiled. "Get out," she said, her voice cold as ice. "I just want to be alone right now, is that so hard for you to grasp?" A moment after she said this, however, she seemed to let the anger go again, keening softly in a sort of broken grief - seeming to forget that the other girl was there. This might have encouraged someone unwary to approach her, try to be a comfort, but anyone who'd already been attacked would have noticed that her hand was still clutched so tightly around the paper-cutter that her knuckles were white.

However deep in grief she was, it was clear that she wouldn't be able to get it out and let go of the worst of it until she was alone - and the anger was her coping mechanism in the meantime.
