:::Cora looks back and forth between the two, the look on her face becoming even more grim. There began to form a crease between her brow:::
But... Luke wasn't alone when the Seraphim took him. There was a girl. I- I only met her once, I don't know her name. She had long dark, very stright hair and... her eyes were gray, fair skin. She wore something that looked like a robe from sometime ancient... did either of you meet her...?
:::She wanted to brace herself for this, if either Maggie or Janani recognized the discription, if they had known the woman, they were in for a very ugly bit of news about her:::

Janani tilts her head and puts her forefinger to her chin. The girl isn't familiar, so she shakes her head.

She... she must have tried to fight the Seraphim... all of them. Luke says that there... there were thousands around them. I don't know how to explain it.

The girl... she didn't make it. She appeared here with Luke, her body faded back to her time. There was nothing I could do for her. By the time she was here..

Janani's eyes go wide. Starting a fight with the Seraphim, especially that many, meant only one thing...and that thought carried out into verbage.
...death.
Though her word was barely audible, there is a finality to it that cannot be denied. Why would...
Why would anyone fight even one of them...
It still makes her head hurt, and soon Janani is haunched over...holding said head.

*Maggie's face drains of all color. She reaches out blindly behind her, sitting down hard once her hand finds a chair*
He killed her. *it's not a question. She keeps her eyes fixed on Cora, her knuckes white on sides of her seat*

That's what you should have done, Cora.
Janani sounds confident enough in that statement. Her body language might indicate otherwise. She's shaking. What is going on?!
Any killed by one of the Serahim...will not be returning...
She pauses. Short of the ultimate Divine Intervention...
...anytime soon.
She shakes her head, violently. This is not happening!

God above, he watched him kill her .. *Maggie closes her eyes, her heart turning over in her chest. She sees Luke's face again in her mind.* Oh, Luke.
*Maggie opens her eyes again, looks back to Cora. Cora, who found them both here. She pulls herself forcibly back to the moment, rises - if a bit unsteadily- to her feet, and walks over to put her arms around her friend.*

They were off in their own world, now. Why wouldn't they be? Janani would only be a reminder of what they are afraid of. Her eyes are downcast, afraid of them now. In their fear...would they take out their hatred of the Seraphim on...her? She shudders at the thought, and begins backing herself up.

*Maggie holds on to Cora and rocks her slowly. How can she tell her not to be afraid when there's so much to be frightened of? She holds her tongue, unable to give voice to false promises*
*Turning to look over Cora's head toward Janani, she sees her start to back away.* Janani . . . *her throat is tight, she clears it, and grabs on to the one thing she can think to offer some comfort* .. We're in this tegether. *she's saying it to Cora as well* Ye know that. We're none of us alone.

Janani looks at the two. They don't know? How couldn't they?! Her breathing becomes heavy, panting even, as she throws her arms out. It's as if she's inviting them to do what they feel the must.

She realizes she's yelling...and blinks. She didn't mean to... She really did like them...
I...
She clears her throat as her eyes become downcast, once more.
The Seraphim... They can tell us...my people, what to do...
Her eyes shift, trying to look at them.
I want to defend you... As a Shard...I've sworn to protect Terra...and those of it...but...I haven't the strength...or ability... to do anything against them...
She looks back to them with tears in her eyes.
What am I supposed to do?!
