"Stop! Don't hurt him." It was almost instinctive that Dani protested to his treatment, and then immedatly wanted to kick herself. Idiot! Don't Blow it! They'd brought 'The traitor' to 'the enemy'. Of course they would hurt him. or something worse. "He may have information you may need." She quickly added. As if it would help. She was sure she inadvertently just made it worse for him.
Thankfully Ms. Prince or rather Veranke, stopped Xiv. Maybe they aren't all soulless monsters after all. But then they changed... Dani's eye's became larger as she watched the morph happen. She visibly took a step back, and her grip in Teddy's hand loosened, barley holding on.
She looked at Teddy, would he change too? She hoped not. These aliens frightened her. Slowly Witchblade started to slither up her arm.

*Chris and Logan filled three large bags with plenty of large guns. The work kept Cassie off Chris's mind and Logan smoked several cigars while they talked over what to bring and what to leave.*
I vote no.
But...it's just like in the movie...
It's too big and bulky.
But...
*It was at that point that Mr. Castle woke up and started to hurl expletives at them. Chris and Logan exchanged a look and Chris shrugged. Logan hauled back and knocked Castle out with another punch. Chris laughed.*
You punished him.
*Logan chuckled.*
I guess I did. Hell, bring that thing if you want but you're hauling it.
Sweet!

"I'm sure they wouldn't be so rash as to hurt him too badly. I'm sure it wouldn't hurt to have an important hostage," Teddy said. He was starting to feel kind of ...powerful and lordly. Like, maybe he could be a ruler if he really wanted. Not that he did. Sure, it was tempting, but he was a hero, and heroes didn't give into temptation.
"Don't be too soft," the Skrull formerly known as Ms. Prince said. "He deserves a little bit of punishment."
Teddy's frowned, a little worried. How could he stop them from hurting Cho without seeming like he was against the cause? "Keep him locked away for now. If anyone is to punish him, it's me."
"As you wish," she replied, and taking Cho by the arm, she led him away. Teddy followed, grabbing Dani's hand and bringing her along.

"I appreciate the kindness you're showing towards that traitor." Veranke nodded. "It is important that, as we move forward with the colonization of this planet, that it be governed by someone compassionate but firm. Someone who puts the needs of the Skrulls first, but not the requirements of the native populace last."
She led Teddy and Dani to a room deep in the Administrative building.
"Let me separate the truth from the fiction Xavin the traitor has tried to sway you with. You, Teddy, obviously know by now the true nature of your life; your real mission here on Earth. You are a skrull, practically royalty, and when we discovered that you were being reared here, we realized we had a prime opportunity. Look."
Veranke waved her arm over a display, and a solar system popped up in the middle of the air between them. Veranke pointed at a single planet, which enlarged as she gestured.
"This was the Skrull Homeworld. Years ago, it came under attack by a hostile force. The force, the intergalactic criminal known as the Brainiac, stole X'alall, the capitol city, and then destroyed the entire planet. If there had not already been colonization in place, the Skrulls would have been rendered extinct."
With a flick of her finger, the planet simulated exploding.
"With the ruling family gone, it fell to us, the colonizers, to find a way to prevent the skrull race from dying out. Twenty years ago, we discovered Earth. Back then, we were headstrong, desperate and foolish. Our scouting crew was routed by four fantastic heroes from this very school."
An image of a very young Fantastic Four leapt into place.
"It was an important lesson. It taught us to be cautious. To be furtive. And so began the planning for our ultimate colonization of Earth. The plan has already begun; and it is fitting that Hero High is Ground Zero for our entire plan."
Another flick and an image of the White House appeared.
"Someday, Dorrek, this will be your home. And when the time is right, you will assume control of this entire world as its leader. And the Skrull race shall be saved."
Another flick, and another planet appeared.
"This is why it's so essential we colonize this planet. This is the Kree homeworld. Our longtime enemies. With our homeworld gone, their forces have taken the advantage in our century-long war. We need the resources of this planet to keep our own warships up and running, defending our people."
Veranke put a hand on Teddy's shoulder.
"It is good you have come to me today. By showing so young that you are ready to serve the Skrull empire, you are helping to save millions, perhaps billions of Skrull lives."

Dani could sympithize with the Skrulls, but she didn't feel bad for them. She lost a home once herself. Sure the planet didn't explode, but it felt that way when Katrina hit. They were going about this all wrong, There were lots of aliens at school who made Earth they're home with out taking it over.
While Veranke explained more Dani wondered who Xavin was, because from what Cho told them, clearly it wasn't him. But at least his real identity was safe, and hopefully the future too.
She glanced up at Teddy, was this the first time he'd read his heritage? He was a Prince, that was cool. But, right now his people weren't all that cool... Maybe there was a way he really could help them. After they were defeated.. what would they do with all the skrulls? She hoped they could some how create new identities, while still living peacefully here.
But first thing is first, get to their friends.

Elsewhere...
*The President of the United States moaned and blinked his eyes. The last thing he remembered was that some green aliens and a man that looked just like him were dragging down a hall in the White House. Then everything went black.*
Easy, Mr. President.
*The voice sounded familiar. The President rubbed his eyes and they began to focus.*
What...what happened?
You were kidnapped and replace by an alien species, Mr. President. They're known as Skrulls. We tracked you down and rescued you.
Skrulls?
Yes, sir. They infiltrating every level of government and even Hero High. We rescued you in secret, so the public wouldn't panic and lose faith in their country.
I give you my thanks. And all of America thanks you....Mr. Luthor. I'll have to reward you.
*Lex Luthor gave the President a wide smile.*
Why don't we free our country first, Mr President?

Teddy felt guilty on so many levels. He felt guilty because he was offering Cho over to the enemies. He felt guilty because all of his friends were turning into Skrulls and conforming all over the place, and it was kind of his fault for being a prince. He felt guilty because Dani was trying so hard to keep Cho safe, but he couldn't let her appear too nice, or they'd be suspicious.
Worst of all, he felt guilty because he kind of liked the attention he was getting. His mother had been away often, and Billy had never been particularly attentive. To have someone proud of him, to pay attention to him and care...well, it made him feel special.
It also saddened him that all along he'd desperately wanted someone's approval.
He couldn't fight the blush that was spreading over his cheeks, and he looked down at the floor, stubbing the toe of his sock against the tile shyly. "Do you think I could have my sneakers now?" he asked.
"Of course you can," she said softly, ruffling his hair affectionately.
One of the other skrulls went over to retrieve them, talking to Billy who must have complied. Teddy slipped his sneakers on, retying the laces as the Skrull handed Dani her shoes.
"Let's get him out of here."
Teddy motioned for the other Skrulls to follow him, heading towards the principal's office.
Xavin? Who was this Xavin guy anyway? He had a right to ask, didn't he? It's not like he would know.
"So who is this Xavin guy?"

"Xavin is a defector who went AWOL from our troops. A sad case, with an unbalanced mind. You need worry nothing else about Xavin." Veranke waved the question off. "Now, we have other, more important things to discuss. I want to give you every opportunity, every question you ever had answered. This world is, as the natives say, Dorrek...your oyster."
Meanwhile...
X'iv dragged Cho roughly to what had once been one of the detention rooms. Now dark and filled with smoke and alien machinery, Cho was shoved into a large glass standing pod. X'iv growled.
"Resume your default form, traitor, and prepare to be mind-cleansed."
"I think not." Cho choked down his nervousness. Being separated from the kids with the super-powers was not the ideal situation. The only thing he could rely on here was his brain. "I stand for the human population. I'd rather identify with them than with your insane scheme."
"And just what do you know about our ...'scheme,' hatchling?!" X'iv demanded.
"I know that the lies Veranke is feeding Teddy won't work. I know that the Skrull 'resettling' plan destroys the worlds it touches, stripping them of their natural resources and leaving them dried-out husks. And I know-"
"SIR!" A white coat-clad skrull shouted at X'iv. "The genetic profiler is going haywire!" He pointed at some red warnings on a readout screen next to the pod Cho was trapped in.
"What?! What does that mean?"
"It means that whoever you put in the decontamination tube is not Xavin....he's not even a skrull!"
X'iv slammed his hands on the console as the entire tube flooded with red light and an alarm went off.
"He's....a Coluan, sir! In fact, his genetic profile indicates that he's-"
Cho saw that this was falling apart. He had to play a desparate gambit. He toggled a switch on his belt, and finally, his Amadeus Cho disguise wavered and vanished.
"Dox. I am Dox."
The small, blonde-haired, green-skinned boy glowered up at his Skrull captors as an alarm klaxon started to go off.
"Though you know me better by the name I destroy planets with....Brainiac."
This was it. Taking advantage of X'iv's momentary shock, the boy shoved with all his might against the containment field - a field intended to incapacitate a Skrull, not a Coluan. It gave slowly, like Jell-o, but it finally gave and he fell out. X'iv sputtered.
"You - you're so much smaller than we would have...never mind! GET HIM!"
Dox didn't wait around to see who X'iv was yelling at. He took off down a random coridoor and started formulating a way to get back in touch with Powell. By now he must have recruited several non-replacables for the Underground...

Wallace had gotten hungry watching Hartley sleep. And bored. Like, Hartley was hot and all, and he loved to make out with his face, but ... who wanted to just stare at someone all day while they slept?
And so Wallace had dressed and wandered off to Zinda's for a burger. On the way a couple of kids asked him to "conform" which was really rude. He was perfectly fine being gay and had accepted it a while ago. Since when was Hero High so right wing?
He wandered over to the counter to order a milkshake, a burger, and some fries. Billy and Cassie were there. Peering out the window, he saw Teddy leave with what appeared to be Dani and some big green woman. Probably his mom. Strange.
"So...are Dani and Teddy together now?" Why was he so out of the gossip loop?
"Nice to see Teddy's mom here now though."

Slipping her shoes back on, she nodded to the one who handed them off.
"Thank you." Their was no reason she couldn't be polite... right? All the queens in the Disney movies were either dead or evil... So she didn't really have anything to base her queen-ness after. She decides she would play the role of 'nice and alive' queen.
The skrull female looks at her questioningly, then reluctantly says. "You're welcome."
"What's your name?" Dani asks.
"Lyja." She replies stiffly continuing forward.
"Hi Lyja. I'm Dani."
"I know who you are, human. If we could have replaced you by now we would have." This comment received a sharp look from Veranke.
"It's Dani, actually. And I'm glad you haven't. We would have missed out on getting to know each other. " She said softly, not wanting to get Lyja in trouble. She was hoping if she made a friend... well... maybe they could help each other out.
"Lyja...Where are we going?"
"To Skrull head quarters, of course."
"Oh good." She smiled a little. This was good right? That must be where their friends were. Dani was sure she could talk Lyja into telling her where they were hidden. But they would have to get rid of Veranke. It was clear to her that she was making Lyja uncomfortable, she'd never open up unless she felt safe.
Problem was Veranke was only interested in Teddy, She'd never get her alone time, unless they split up. Teddy could distract Veranke with wanting more knowledge, while Dani got Lyja to take her to the prisoners.
But Chris said not to slit up... What choice did they have now? Besides, were the heck was Chris anyways...

Wallace P Wells Wallace had gotten hungry watching Hartley sleep. And bored. Like, Hartley was hot and all, and he loved to make out with his face, but ... who wanted to just stare at someone all day while they slept? Hartley was sleeping. Like, a lot....who could blame him? After the previous night? Blowing up the Dakota? Facing not one, but two of Wallace's evil Exes? Of course he needed a good night's sleep.
Too bad that wasn't what he was getting. "Hartley Rathaway..." Hartley dreamed he was floating over a strange, mish-mashed dreamscape, heading towards an enormous castle. He couldn't tell what force was bringing him forward. It was like he was being pulled by an invisible cord."This is a dream..." He said to himself as he passed a fairy dusting some flying books."Yes, it is." The cold voice agreed with him."I don't normally have dreams like this. Mostly they're about, like...well, you know. Music and stuff." "This is not YOUR dream, Hartley." Hartley felt a cold rush come over him, and he was standing on his feet, in a large, stark white throneroom. Sitting on the throne was a pale, white guy in a gray t-shirt and black jeans. His hair was a black mop of a mess, and his eyes were black pools that looked like they contained galaxies."Definitely not one of my normal dreams." Hartley agreed. What else could he do? "Who are you?" "I am Morpheus, the King of the Dreaming. All who sleep visit my realm. I am Dream.""So....uh...." Hartley was at a loss for words. Morpheus stood up and a cloak appeared around his shoulders."And I am the third of Wallace Well's Indeterminate Number of Exes.""What? Seriously. Seriously?!" "Yes. Though I transcend good and evil, I have fallen in love with Wallace. The things we do in dreams you could never imagine when you are awake. And so now, in my own realm, in a dream of my weaving, Hartley Rathaway...I shall defeat you and claim Wallace as my own - forever!"Morpheus' voice echoed throughout the Dreaming, and in the waking world, Hartley let out a little groan.

*Chris was pacing by the door. Logan watched as he waited nervously for the call from Teddy and Dani. All of the sudden, Chris started to sing under his breath for lack of anything else to do.*
This is tale Of Captain Jack Sparrow Pirate so brave On the seven seas A mystical quest On the isle of Tortuga Raven locks sway On the ocean's breeze
What the hell are you singing, bub?
Uh, nothing. Something I heard once.

Teddy was brought to the main office. He was following Veranke willingly, something slightly puppy-dog about his movements behind her. He was ...special. And these Skrull cared about him because he was important. And they treated him with respect, like he mattered. He was noticed, and he felt like they might actually support him. Offer him the kindly words he needed to hear when he failed his math test.
Wait, he wouldn't even have to take a math test again, would he? Not if he was boss. Veranke reached out to gently ruffle Teddy's hair, and he grinned. "There's someone else here who has really wanted to see you," she said, "Your mother."
Teddy's head shot up, his eyes looking around for her. "Where is she?" He hadn't seen her in a while, and his life had been a empty without her, especially since they hadn't celebrated the holidays this year like they usually did.
"Well, we're actually very disappointed with her Theodore. You see, she's been hiding you from us all of these years."
"What?" he asked, startled, "Why?"
"She didn't want you to reach your true potential. She didn't want you to know greatness."
Teddy frowned, why would his mother do that?
Veranke misinterpreted his frown, "I know, I'd be angry too. We considered that, and so we brought her here so that she could see how great you're going to become. BRING FORTH THE TRAITOR!"
And from a side room, she was drug forward, her mouth gagged and her hands bound. "Mom?!" Teddy asked, shocked. "What'd you guys do to her?"
"Teddy, she's not even your real mother. She tried to steal you from us. She did a pretty good job of it too. Hid you for ...how old are you now? 15? She hid you for fifteen years, but we found you anyway."
"Not my real mom? What...?"
"Teddy!" his mother cried out, spitting out the gag, "I needed to keep you safe!"
"Mom!"
"Silence the traitor!"
Once more the gag was shoved into her mouth, and Teddy moved to run to her, but was stopped by two Skrulls, lifting him up underneath his arms. He felt helpless, unable to do anything to save her. "MOM!"
She spit it out again, "Teddy, they only want to destroy the Earth, and when they do they'll ruin you. This isn't who you are Teddy!"
A Skrull struck her hard across the mouth.
"Don't hurt her!" Teddy cried out, squirming.
"Remember that I love you!"
"Mom!" he squirmed some more.
"Silence her!" Veranke yelled, and Teddy's mother was bashed across the head, rendering her unconscious.
"Let her go!" Teddy growled, demanding, "And put me down."
"Now Theodore," Veranke murmured, "She was trying to stop you from your goal...our goal. This is your future, and she was going to ruin it." She motioned for the guards to lower Teddy. "Remember, we're here to support you and make you into something great. We are here because we love you and care about you."
Teddy took a deep breath, trying to calm himself. If he wanted to keep his mom safe, and his friends, he'd have to play along for now. "So what do I need to do?"

At the tussled with Teddy's mom Dani sprung into action. Witchblade coiled and formed grapples and stingers, ready to strike at Teddy's command. Witchblade wanted to fight and so did Dani, but unlike the Witchblade she needed to wait for Teddy to say something. It would ruin everything if they blew it now. But Holly hell they had his mother! real mom or not, they were bound by their relationship.
After a few exchanged words and some yelling and explaining later. Teddy finally calmed down. And so did Witchblade. But Dani knew this was killing Teddy inside. He'd need his friends now more then ever, but they weren't here. She was.
Slowly walking to Teddy she slipped her hand into his and gave a light squeeze. She wanted to talk to him instead but she didn't say anything. She couldn't. Her eyes spoke volumes. They said:
'We'll get her back. I promise.'

That's it. We're going.
Hmm?
Something has gone wrong and they can't get us a signal. We'll go with our distraction now.
Ok, bub. Where to?
The campus bookstore. If we find any humans along the way, we'll drag them along. I'll tell them you're a new teacher or something.
*Chris and Logan moved through the training complex that the kid's called 'The Punisher's Palace of Pain.' Catchy, huh? As they reached the front door, they saw Artemis and Achilles engaged in a conversation. They were both sweaty and Chris knew that meant training.*
Well?
*Logan sniffed the air.*
Girl is a Skrull...the guy...he's been around Skrulls but not one.
Awesome. Achilles is pretty strong so we'll drag him along.
*But would Achilles come? Chris knew if he told the Greek boy that Cassie was captured, Achilles would charge off bellowing like a wounded rhino. And would he even understand what aliens from another planet were? Chris would have to play this smooth. And as Cassie could attest to, smooth was his middle name.*
There she goes. Come on.
*Chris and Logan popped out of the shooting annex and armored boy snagged Achilles by the arm.*
ACHILLES! Carry this and come along.
*Chris shoved an oversized and extremely heavy duffel bag into Achilles's arms.*
We have a mission, dude. By the way, this is Professor Logan. Now, our mission is to cause a distraction. This distraction will let our infiltration team complete their task. And then the world will be saved. And then we can see Cassie and Wally and Dani and Teddy and eat pizza and dance the night away. Come on.
*Chris drug one very confused Greek towards the campus bookstore.*
