Alexei allowed her a short head start, to give her a chance of reaching the shore before him, because this time he wasn't going easy. After all, she'd more or less told him not to.

He waded into the water, and once it was deep enough, he made a shallow dive, slipping below the surface with little more than a bloop. He came up with a front stroke, his body moving quickly through the water as his well-toned legs propelled him towards the shore.

Adara's water entry was much less impressive. She was only a few feet ahead of him when she did duck under the surface and began pushing herself through the clear ocean waters, but she was much less streamline in her swimming than he was, apparently.

'Don't even ask me, girlie, 'cuz I know yer thinkin' about it... I ain't any better at swimmin' then you are.'

Damn..

All she could do was watch with a grin as Alexei passed her by, just as she had expected, and get herself back to the shore and the rest of her clothes.

Alexei had to stifle his grin or else risk getting salt water in his mouth, but he made it to the shore well before Adara and turned to look back at her, slicking his wet hair back against his head as he swam backwards into the shallows, waiting for her before he got out and went for their clothes.

"Don't say I did not warn you," he said, referring to his rather handy victory. He lifted his hands out of the water in an exaggerated shrug.

The girl surface in much the same way as she had the past two or three times she had been under the water, which had a trail of fine grains of sand floating after her since she had been covered in it, and flipped her hair back. The same spray of water made an arc from the waterline to above her head and out about five feet from where she stood.

The smile on her face was still the same though.

"I had no delusions about winning that time," she laughed, finally catching up with him and rubbing as much water as she could from her glasses as she started collecting her clothes and her pistol. She wrapped the long sleeve black shirt around her weapon to avoid getting the salt and water in it, "Or maybe I let you win this time."

Flashing him a smirk that was too adorable for her own good, the teen flopped the black hat back on top of her wet hair and grabbed her shoes and socks, carrying them rather than putting them back on.

"Ah," Alexei mused, putting a finger to his chin as he stepped out of the water.
"Lull me into false security. Good strategies."
He picked up his weaponry and clothing as he walked ashore, strapping his gunblades to his waist. Safely inside their holsters, they wouldn't get wet. He carried the rest of his clothing in one hand, it would only get wet if he put it on now. He could dry in the setting sun as they walked. He held out his other hand for Adara to take on their way back.

After taking a second to shift her shirt-wrapped gun under her other arm, Adara slipped her now free hand into his outstretched one and curled her fingers through his.

"Ya, I'm full of cunning and deviousness," she grinned sarcastically and let him lead the way.

Considering she had very little sense of direction in the wild...

Alexei looked towards the sun, nearly half-set now, and turned into the forest, having gained his bearings. He led Adara through the trees and brush, back towards their little hide-away.
"We have big pines like these around Crescent. Reminding me of home."

He smiled nostalgically and looked out across the forest, the tall trees standing like columns around them. Out in the wild, he sometimes imagined himself like a great king of old, walking between marble pillars - his people had legends that the Crescent people once had great marble halls and ruled over most of Galbadia, and then were driven to the north by invaders at some indeterminate point in history.

"Almost there. Look for ropes."

While Alexei was full of nostalgia while leading her through the wilderness, Adara had a soft smile of adoration. She could tell he was off in his mind somewhere that she would likely never see, but that was all right with her. They came from two very different worlds to start with and she would never really understand his connection with nature and the trees and non-paved paths, but she could appreciate it, since it was part of him. It was those things that she could never quite identify with that made him so intriguing, and he was so unique from everyone else in the Garden, and that was what made her fall in love with him. She could listen to him talking or reading for hours, watch him sit and study all day, or even just lay around the dorms and do absolutely nothing, and she would always just feel content.

As they walked, the girl spent more time looking up at him than she did where she was setting her feet, which made her stumble every once and a while, but she didn't care. This outing was exactly what she needed.

After tripping over another root cropping out of the ground, Adara raised her gaze to spot a dangling rope in the distance.

"Over there, babe," she outstretched a finger to point it out to him.

Alexei smiled as Adara spotted the cord before him.
"Good eye," he said, kissing her hand and changing their direction towards it. He checked the rope with his free hand, tugging on it to make sure it hadn't come loose in their absence, then made sure the ascenders were working.
"Okay, looks good. Lady first?" he said, gesturing to the rope with his head.

She smirked at him, tempted to make some comment about her not being a lady or something like that, but decided that a smirk said enough about it. Being a quick learner had many many advatages, and this time around, Adara made it up the tree with the ascenders fairly quickly. The height of it still made her a little nervous, but not enough to throw her off.

The first thing she did once she was safely back on the canvas square was check the temperature of the wine bottle. It was just barely cold still, but it wasn`t warm enough to offset the taste of it too much.

"Hmmm... well. We have just enough time to drink this quickly, and likely send it straight to our brains," she grinned at him again once he was up into their spot again too, "which I'm ok with if you are."

"I am stable as they come," Alexei replied as he clambered up onto the canvas, "this will be o-kay."
He rolled onto his back and pulled himself closer to Adara, taking hold of her arm and lifting it to see how much of the wine was left.
"Well, let's get it started, babe."
The word 'babe' sounded a little awkward in his accent, and he made a face that said 'Well, I'm not saying that anymore'.

Adara had already been in the process of taking a drink from the bottle of wine when Alexei called her 'babe'. She laughed a little harder than she would have liked, which caused her to cough and sputter on the liquid in her throat. His faacil expression had made it all the more awkward and the laughter had been unavoidable to her.

"Oh, I'm sorry, love," she pouted sympathetically through a smile and kissed his forehead while pressing the bottle into his hand. "Here."

The girl's cheeks had turned red, half from coughing and half from embarrassment for laughing.

Alexei's lips skewed as he feigned an offended frown. It wasn't easy to keep a straight face while trying to be mad at her.
"Making fun of accent ... I thought you were nice," he said, affecting offense. He smiled, then took the bottle and gave her a kiss before putting his lips to the bottle.

PostPosted: Mon May 31, 2010 11:11 pm

"Awwwww," Adara's faux-pout turn into a real one, "no, I didn'tmmm--"

She was cut off by his lips pressed against hers for a brief moment. Even though she knew he had be playing offended, the girl still felt a bit bad for laughing, even just a little. Recently she had been researching the Crescent language on her own to try and impress Alexei when she did speak it and it made her realize just how hard the language change had to be on him.

His accent was still the most adorable thing, and she was going to stick by that, but if he ever called her 'babe' again then it was going to be hard not to laugh again.

He was pleased that he'd gotten such a reaction out of her. He knew she didn't mean to make fun of him - he was well aware of how silly he'd sounded. He took the bottle from his lips, having swallowed a good amount. He dabbed his mouth with his arm, to make sure he hadn't spilled any down his chin.
"Is okay, I am only playing," he said, blinking at the fuzzy feeling the drink was starting to give him.
