Isiah laughed a little, slinging an arm around Tsurai. "Back when there were cities and places where you could blend in, Tsurai, that would have been okay. But we can't chance wandering off into the unknown again. I've gotten too used to food and water." He smiled weakly, though his eyes were elsewhere.
"And I don't think it would take Kaegan long.. or at least, the others- to find the little paradise you were staying in."
Braeden stood from his place at long last, jogging over to Connor's to look for Tsurai. Instead, he saw Connor inside. He moved partially into the hovel, leaning against the doorway. "So. What are you and mary queen of fags gonna do? Stick around?"

"I'm not going to give you information for a buck, Braeden. I don't want you here," Connor said, unmoving from his place on the ground.
Tsurai shook his head. "That can be a pitstop. There are still cities... There has to be. The bombs couldn't have destroyed everything. I walked so far... I remember looking up, and there being hatches. We could use the tunnels to travel, so you don't get sunburnt again. And the whole place has water. It's cool, flat, easy. The only thing you have to worry about is food."
Tsurai wrapped his eyes around Isiah and closed his eyes. "I don't want to see you get hurt."

Isiah laughed again, this time, much more robust, if darker in nature. "Don't you worry," He spoke quietly. "I won't get hurt."
He stroked Tsurai's hair idly, taking comfort in being so loved again by the boy who'd so easily abandoned him. "I just have to figure this out.."
Braeden shrugged, rubbing his thumb and finger together. "Not like I have a buck to give you.. But I dunno. I think there's a couple of ways you two could manipulate the situation to your advantage."

Connor was interested, and moved his forearm to watch Braeden, but didn't get up. "What makes you think I'll trust you? You're low in rank, your information is useless."
Tsurai gave an 'mm' at being petted. "I wish I knew how to help you," he said quietly.

"Me too, kid." He groaned. "I made my bed, Tsurai, now I gotta lay in it."
Braeden shrugged, rolling his eyes upward. "Well, I dunno Connor. Isiah's gonna have something I want pretty bad once he gets Kaegan out of the way, and I can say.. take it off your hands pretty easily. Happy ending, right?" He quirked a brow upward, smiling. "Shouldn't be too hard to organize."

Connor hmphed. "Yes, it would. Like I said, you're too low in rank."
Tsurai laid in Isiah's lap. "Lying on the floor isn't so bad."

"Have you always been this ********' stupid? I mean to say, were you born that way? Or did it just happen overnight?" Braeden rolled his eyes, grunting. "You wanna hear my idea or not, dumbshit?"
Isiah laughed. "That's not what that means.. it means that if you make a mistake you have to see it through, whether you want to or not."

"You gave me another chance," Tsurai replied.
"I'm sure if you wanted me to hear about your brilliant idea, you would have started explaining it already. Get out of my house, Gadje." Connor hissed. He put his forearm over his eyes again. Those kind of tactics would not work with Connor.
All Braeden was, was a two-bit conman. Corrupted people don't deserve to be heard.

"Chienne," Braeden quipped back, extending his middle finger. "You're gonna regret being such a slut when your time comes, ********." Braeden shrugged and walked away back toward the hovel he was supposedly sharing with Tsurai.
Isiah smiled. "Not everyone is as nice as I am, Tsurai."

Tsurai rolled on his back on Isiah''s lap, looking up at Isiah. "A long time a go, you said Kaegan was like a father to you. I thought you''d never forgive me for what I did to you, but you did. If you trust Kaegan so much, what makes you think he won''t act the same way? He did allow you to join his pack again... Or so I assume."
His brows furrowed and he frowned. "What happened during that conversation anyway?"

He grunted. "You don't need to know all of it. Old habits die hard with Kaegan, Tsurai... And yes, Kaegan was very important to me, a long time ago. And I thought maybe I could forgive him for what he let happen to me. I wanted to. I want to. But I don't think I can. He's making it impossible." He pushed hair out of Tsurai's eyes in a motherly way, sighing.
"There's no easy way out of this one."

Tsurai sighed and turned on his side. "Oh.. Well I'm sorry.. I can't help..."

"He called Connor a f*****t," He spat, almost as though he couldn't even hold it back. Word vomit. "He just.. knows how to ********' piss me off."
He sighed, stroking Tsurai's hair. "Don't apologize for how you are."

Tsurai let out a sigh. "It's just a word. I'm pretty sure I called you a f**, once. Insults get strewn around when people are mad... I overreacted when you said you were a cop.. Maybe you overreacted when Kaegan said Connor was a f**? I'm sure Kaegan only said it because he was stressed out."
The boy closed his eyes, relishing the attention. He wished he could fall asleep like this, with Isiah petting him.

Isiah grunted. "What it means, Tsurai... All these years I thought he'd accepted me, and what he'd let happen had to happen, because he couldn't fight it.. But I was wrong, Tsurai. I assumed men could change. That was wrong, too."
