Maybe a slow start is a good thing, then?
PostPosted: Mon Jul 31, 2006 10:02 pm

*cough* I didn't get my license until I was 21.. >.>; And driver's ed isn't such a bad thing...not if it's just you and the instructor, anyway.. It gets you huge sexy savings on your insurance. surprised And it really does kinda help getting over not liking/being afraid of driving... .-. I got my first car a couple weeks after I got my license....and it has about 1600 miles on it now... whee heart

I did, too... But it really does help >.>; I learned how to parallel park...not that I've ever done it since then..but still...at least I know how... XD; And I learned a spiffy way to zigzag around some cones..and then do it in reverse.. And that I have a horrible problem with stop signs. : DDDDD

I had the biggest problem changing lanes. I would never look behind me to check for my blind spot. After getting yelled at by the license lady, dammit, I remember now. :D

Though, woo, I'm all cool now. I still don't like driving at night, however. DDD: Especially with some of the backroads around here: insanely narrow, and curvy. It's like, uh, vehicular suicide?

And Gawthy, I agree, a slow start, in my opinion, is better. <33 Go with what you're comfortable with; don't let the others influence you. (Trust me, I had my brother everyday, "So, when I do get to stop driving you around?" "Shut up, chaffeur. To the park!" And I laughed, because he couldn't do anything about it.)

You'll like the sense of independence you get when you finally drive on your own, but take your own course up 'til that point. It'll be just fine. :33

PS: Driver's Ed, and being a girl, saves one hell of a lot of money on insurance. It's where, again, I laugh at my brother. "No Driver's Ed? Accidents? BEING A BOY?!"

we win, bitches. gostatistics.

I used to be really bad about the blind spot thing, too... But I've kinda gotten over that.. >.> It's really awesome to be able to go wherever you want, whenever you want, though.. heart My insurance is insanely cheap 'cuz I did driver's ed and some little log book hickythinger the insurance guy gave me... domokun

I'm going to get my license today, if all goes well... I'm not excited or anything though. It's just another step along the way.

I think I will be happier driving without my dad, though. He has a tendency to yell at other drivers who suck, pound the dashboard and door (when I do normal, safe maneuvers), and yells at me when I can't do something right, i.e. BACKING UP. I suck at it, and the parking place in our driveway is rather awkward. I have to pull up the driveway (which is on a hill, by the way), pull past the spot (which is perpendicular to the driveway), and then back into it from there. It's a less than ninety degree turn, the way my dad tells me to do it, and there are trees and bushes in the way. A parking space will be a cinch by the time I get used to doing this.

Maybe I'll post pics to show what I mean. It's really stupid. I run over the crossties he has to mark the parking space almost every single time I park. D:<

Ahh, thank God I'm not the only one who sucks, then. And the instructor did say that by the end of the driving yesterday that I was improving. So, yay.

And good luck Ides!

heart heart @ Dixie and Merc and Ides.

Good for you~ :D

Otherwise, statisically, women are in fewer accidents than men and are more likely to practice safety measures, like bucking your seat belt. Because of that, girls' insurance is lower than boys. On the flipside, teenage boys/young men have one hell of a lot to pay, since they're supposedly more likely to crash, all that stuff.

It's all in what the insurance company sees in you. If you make good grades (which, yes, I have a student discount because of that), it says that you're a diligent person, at least to the insurance people. If you take Driver's Ed, it's like a better guide to driving, no matter how much it sucks, so the company will lower your rate.

If it doesn't make sense, the best way I could tweak it would be that, say, if you drive a fast red sports car, your rate would be higher than someone with something modest. It's all about liability; girls have less risks than the boys.

Insurance people are sexist, but hey, good for us.

(moved from Member News)

actually the girls I know who have been in sororities are certainly not the prissy fashion minded drones you'd think of. however the "group mentality" does become infectious.

They basically are complete advocates of unconditional trust, loyalty and obedience within thier own ranks. They expect you to endure abuse and ridicule in order to be viewed as one of the "tribe". Then the Tribe dictates social standards and events and lifestyle.

If you're with sorority A and like a boy from frat B but sorority A is a sister of frat C and frat C & B are at odds then you aren't allowed to fraternize with the boy from frat B without being mocked, abused and disowned.

They will make it as alluring and charming as possible when they sell it to you. They do this to lure in the insecure and offer them a window of immediate acceptance. A place where you'll just be accepted no matter who you are with no discrimination or standards.

Then when they gather all the people weak enough to be lured in by it they systematically break you until you conform or quit. In the end, if you make it you do have a place where you're accepted no matter who you are... as long as you're willing to let them define who you are.

It's total bullshit.

Rofl, man, I am so glad it was just popular/artistic/jocks against everyone else here xd Kinda similar thing but fortunately, Canadian schools don't really have the frat structure the US does, at least not at the college lvl, which was painful enough as it was blaugh
