Tristen would give a nod with to Mr. Sanguaro, a bit of a relieved smile that this wasn’t some sort of trick question or if there was any thing in specific that Mr. Sanguaro was wanting out of Tristen. Fortunately, that wasn’t the case to any student. It was to teach about berries for the most part. Tristen, admittedly, while he knew a fair deal about them, there was plenty that he didn’t. He knew of the more common types, like the one he ended up describing to the class just now, and some others, like the likes of much rarer berries like Petaya or Leichi, namely because of his adoptive father tends to use them. Albeit given the rarity of them, not as often as his Pokémon would care for. Even Tristen’s preference to carry around at least a few Lum Berries to be a cure all for a lot of what either he, his Pokémon, or his Snagem allies might be ailed with were a bit on the luxury side, given how long it takes for them to grow.

Soon after Matteo would give his knowhow of the Perism Berry, which apparently wasn’t a lot much to Tristen’s astonishment, Mr. Sanguaro would go into detail about the various berries, and it started to get into territory that even he didn’t know too much on, which actually caught the Manectric hybrid off guard. Berries that could reduce Pokémon type damage? He wasn’t really told anything about those, for instance. Though he could only assume that his adoptive father probably didn’t tell him deliberately for some reason. After all, he did withhold talking about held items until Tristen gave himself a crash course in them, which ultimately resulted in actually hindering Dragonite in the end against Nemona. Maybe he didn’t put a lot of stock into those berries? Who knows? Other berries he knew that didn’t really have any purpose in Pokémon battles gave him thoughts later to see about treating his Pokémon at some point or another. Tristen would take notes on a lot of these berries, presuming that it was going to be relevant later, and who knows, maybe useful.

Once the class was over, Mr. Sanguaro gave him something to look forward to. Poffins. That was interesting to fix up. He was pretty certain that his Pokémon would love those as well. Tristen would follow Matteo out, not really bothering paying much attention to Gloria. As he told Matteo, she wasn’t worth the time. And if she was going to bury herself in her antics? He was just going to let her. Once he got down the hall with the Growlithe hybrid, he figured to get back on the topic of conversation before the teacher showed up. “So…what time you want to meet up at the Pokémon Center?” He asked as he walked along with Matteo.
PostPosted: Sat May 24, 2025 9:05 am

"What time? How about ten? Give us both time to wake up and get ready. Plus I like to let my Kilowattrel out in the morning to do some laps around the academy, stretch their wings." Matteo answered Tristen as they both exited the classroom and began to walk down the hallway towards the cafeteria. As they did they both would pass Nemona who was in the process of harassing someone for a battle, not one of the normal friend group but that one girl from the student tournament awhile back, the one with a Meowscarada. "I feel bad for Juliana but at least it's here this time." Matteo commented as he kept walking, trying not to lock eyes with Nemona, least he get sucked into a battle.

Eventually they would make it together to the cafeteria and get in line for their food together, Matteo spotting a familiar face already eating at a table. "Hey, isn't that Giacomo?" Matteo asked Tristen as he nodded in that direction. "Did they finally let him go?"

“Okay, that’s good. That gives me plenty of time to get all my Pokémon ready, too.” Tristen said to him. Tristen was looking forward to the excursion tomorrow to say the least. It was just all the matter of making it through the day today in one piece and figure out what Pokémon to bring along on the trip. He had some sort of idea, but he’ll try to figure it out tonight. In the meantime, it was lunch time. As they went along, Tristen took notice to Nemona, still once again itching for another battle as she was holding up another student in the hallway. While this was typical of Nemona, and unsurprising for that matter, Tristen couldn’t help but to feel a little sorry for Juliana just then. Tristen would withhold a grimace that he could feel coming on his face, looking back towards Matteo when he spoke up. He pretty much had the same idea as Matteo did. Just keep moving along and hope Nemona doesn’t notice. Though one would have wondered after what he saw on the PoryCord server yesterday afternoon, he’d thought she’d cool it at least one day. Apparently not.

Once they made their way into the cafeteria, he’d follow Matteo into the line to wait on their sandwiches. Though something that caught Matteo’s attention. “Giacomo?” Tristen said. That name again. He looked out towards the cafeteria, trying to follow along where Matteo was trying to point out to. He noticed the teen there at lunch, which…he honestly had to say that at least unlike Atticus or Mela, he wasn’t out there with how he dressed. Comparatively, anyways. “…so that’s him…I never even seen him before until now. Other than that Ortega guy, anyways. He gets name dropped here and there around me and I found it kinda weird. Well, until I heard about him being Team Star about a week after I started here. You know, he was supposed to be Penny’s science class partner first before she got assigned with Camp for that Vivillion project?” Tristen asked Matteo. “I found it kind of weird though…she tried to act like she never was assigned to him to begin with. The most I can tell you is that she and Giacomo is supposed to be friends somehow; Fela mentioned how Penny needed to find better friends which irritated Penny a little bit. Then after that, when Penny introduced me to Camp in my first Homeroom class day, she turned around saying she was always assigned to Camp and got defensive when I asked about Giacomo. I didn’t really want to dive into it since it was only my second day, but every time Giacomo came up somehow, I kept thinking back to how Penny acted weird about it. Like she knew that he was Team Star, right?” Tristen asked the Growlithe hybrid. Maybe he could get some answers...

"Huh, really...you don't say..." Matteo commented in response to Tristen as he kept his eyes on Giacomo. "Penny and Giacomo were close once. In fact she helped him set up his online presence for his DJing hobby, even loaned him some League Points to run ads in the school's newsletter for his DJ services. They used to be pretty close, even when he joined Team Star they were still in contact as far as I knew. At least what I knew when I was with Mela but that's whatever...still, that's weird that you say all that." Matteo continued as they went through the line.

Eventually they would make it to Ms. Picante with Matteo up first to get his sandwich, Ms. Picante giving them both a look as she wasn't used to seeing them both together in line. "Hey...boys..." She said, uncertain. "How has the school day been? Both of you being good?" She said, eying Matteo. "And what can I get you?"

"Yep! Been great! And I'll get the five alarm, please!" Matteo responded happily with a big smile, the woman having an expression of uncertainty, like she wasn't sure what to make of Matteo in this moment.

"And you, Tristen?" Ms. Picante asked.

So, Penny and Giacomo were close? Even after he went to Team Star? Part of Tristen wondered if that was the case, but generally, he never would have imagined that she was the type to even have any connection to Team Star, even if she knew Giacomo before it all. It left Tristen to muse over the whole situation, like why Penny tried to play off her ever being partnered with him as opposed to Camp initially. Was it a mark of shame? Was there a falling out at some point? Tristen at this point could only guess. It did leave him to wonder a little if she had been in contact with her during the whole mushroom incident with Team Star. Or for that matter if she had talked to him after the fact. Today especially since he’s literally right here in the lunchroom.

Tristen stayed on that brief thought train until he and Matteo finally found their way up to the counter with Ms. Picante. “Yes, ma’am. The school day has been pretty good today so far. Can I please get a club sandwich?” he then asked the lunch lady.
PostPosted: Wed May 28, 2025 6:29 pm

"Well that's good, chico. Club sandwich? ...and a five alarm...let me get those for you boys." Ms. Picante said, smiling at Tristen but giving Matteo a rather blank stare before going about making the sandwiches with the help of her pair of Tandemaus, the mice wearing little plastic gloves. Once the sandwiches were assembled Ms. Picante would present them, placing them on their trays. "There you go. Have the good rest of the day." She said, smiling at Tristen.

With their sandwiches and eventually chips and soda in hand the boys would make their way for the tables, coming to sit in their usual spot with their usual group of the twins, Fela, Penny, Nemona, Camp, and Florian. As they sat down, with Matteo taking his position between the twins like usual, they would all greet them before moving onto today's subject.

"Tristen, want to help settle an argument? If a Pokemon spends most of its time upside down then it's not upside down, that's just right side up; do you agree?" Fela asked the boy, Camp immediately showing signs of being flustered.

"Rellor is only upside down when it rolls its ball around!" Camp insisted, apparently this debate was going on for awhile.

"But how long does it spend rolling its ball?" Fela argued back. Camp would stutter for a bit as he struggled to answer.

Tristen would take his sandwich, going down the line to get his chips and drink, then followed Matteo off for the rest of his friends. Once he arrived, he stared in confusion, finding it strange that Fela and Camp were having some sort of argument, which made him instantly have a question to maybe derail the entire situation to begin with. He'd take a quick look back at Matteo then towards his two friends asking him of this dilemma. “Uh…whats a Rellor?” The Manectric hybrid asked, sweating a bead in nervousness. Assuming that this was a Paldean Pokémon, he still wasn’t all that versed in the likes of them. So much for settling arguments…
PostPosted: Thu May 29, 2025 3:10 pm

The group would all collectively turn to face Tristen and stare at him for awhile, all of them blinking slowly in silence, even the young twins. Camp would be the first to break the silence. "Rellor is a Bug Pokemon. The Pokemon itself is only several inches tall but it rolls around a ball of mud composed of dirt and sand which it pumps Psychic energy into constantly as it rolls it around. They will defend the ball with their very life as it's highly valuable to them, the ball containing the energy they need to evolve in it. They are also incredibly common in Asado Desert. They are fairly well known because of how unusual they are." The Bug Catcher explained.

"Yeah yeah! There is even a desert based on them!" B. chimed in.

"Roller Balls! They are really good! Made with chocolate! You should try them!" E. followed up with his brother.

"Like me I don't think that interests Tristen." Matteo jumped in, pointing out that the canines in the group wouldn't have much interesting in eating something chocolate based.

"It's okay that you didn't know about Rellor, you're still pretty new to the region." Fela said, reassuring Tristen that his ignorance on the species was okay. "What about Johto? Are there any Pokemon you would say were pretty iconic to the region or a part of the region?"

Tristen listened in as Camp, albeit hesitantly out of perchance the shock of Tristen’s lack of knowledge of Paldean native Pokémon, explained what a Rellor was to the Manectric hybrid. Though it was interesting. Literally store psychic energy in dirt that they roll up? That…was honestly strange. Tristen didn’t even think that would have been possible, but then, it should come to any surprise to him. The world of Pokémon was consistently getting weirder by the day the more he discovers.

“Bug Pokémon? Iconic?” Tristen asked. It was something he honestly had to sit and think about for a minute. There were plenty of Bug type Pokémon, to be sure, but any that were iconic, any that would say ‘hey, this was a Jhoto bug’? Not really. Not any that he could think of, or would flat out associate with Jhoto. For that matter, some of the bug types were shared between Jhoto and Kanto that he could recall, save for some rarities that might are dotted in Kanto in particular, but nothing outright egregious that he could think of. “Um…not that…I can think of.” He would answer Fela. “Probably the Heracross, if I had to guess. They seem to be more common in Jhoto than I know of than any other region that I have been to. Though they tend to hang out a lot around Ilex Forest primarily. Anywhere else in the region and they may end up getting in fights with Pinsir. They’re like…natural enemies. Then again, Pinsir seems to make enemies with a lot of bug types…but Heracross seems to be the worst for them for some reason.” Tristen said.

"Heracross, huh? I think you can find them here in Paldea." Fela pondered in response to Tristen.

"Heracross in Johto are so cool!" Camp chimed in, his eyes almost sparkling. "They are indeed native to the region, sparsely in others, and introduced into a few more. But the ones in Johto are on record for having the biggest horns anywhere in the world! Something about the ecosystem that Johto provides them. Heck, speaking of Pinsir some theorize that is one reason why their horns are much bigger in Johto because of the presence of Pinsir and how their territory overlaps. Bigger horn for bigger fights!" The Bug Catcher began to ramble on.

"Uh uh...speaking of bugs, today is the day for the Spewpa and Vivillon, right? You guys ready for that later today?" Penny asked Tristen and Fela.

"I think I am." Fela answered, then thought about it for a second before following it up. "Yeah, I am."

It was still a little astounding how much Camp would go on about a Heracross of all things. Never mind Bug Pokémon in general. It wasn’t anything that he really paid too much mind about but apparently there were those kind of fanatics. Tristen looked back towards Matteo then back towards Camp for a second until Penny finally spoke up, getting Tristen’s attention. “Oh yea, I’m good to go.” Tristen said to Penny. “I…am kinda wondering if Vivillion has any idea as to what was going on. I never really brought it up to Vivillion the entire time about what was going on. Never really thought to, honestly. Hopefully, Vivillion hadn’t given Mr. Jacq too hard of a time the past couple of days.”
PostPosted: Sun Jun 01, 2025 11:22 am

"Oh...I didn't think about that..." Fela realized as Tristen spoke, the girl looking down at her sandwich as she considered what Vivillon was thinking.

"Don't worry. Chances are when it comes time to release them all their instincts will kick in and Vivillon won't have the opportunity to even consider any concerns. Like I said before the instinct drive in Bug Pokemon is super powerful." Camp chimed in, trying to reassure Fela but if anything it only reminded her how Vivillon might just completely forget about them, as if their time together meant nothing. Fela would sigh.

"Hey, Fela, why don't we go out for ice cream after the release?" Penny chimed in, noticing Fela's emotional spiraling.

"Hm? Oh uh...I guess we can." She said, rubbing her nose as she stopped herself from possibly crying. "How about the four us go? You okay with that, Penny? Tristen? Camp?" She asked everyone, deciding she had a better idea to include more people in the class.

Tristen couldn’t help but to sweat another bead, then only internally curse himself when Fela started back on her emotional spiral once again. He didn’t think too much of it, or if nothing else, if Fela was truly over it, but apparently that was not the case. Suddenly, he felt glad that he did turn Vivillion in to Mr. Jacq when he did. Though at the same time, part of him wished he learned social nuances sooner than now. Penny would then end up saving the day however and when Fela brought up to make it a bigger group outing, Tristen would nod. “I wouldn’t mind it.” Tristen told them. “I don’t have anything going on that I know and given the next two classes probably won’t get much of anything either. And it’d probably be good to just get out for at least a little while.”

"Okay, cool, then it's decided. How about we all meet up at the bottom of the academy steps and walk to the nearest ice cream cart together? We can just walk the streets as we eat our ice cream, it could be fun!" Fela said, suddenly taking over this idea to get ice cream and making it her own. Penny didn't mind though, as long as Fela wasn't acting all depressed anymore.

Lunch period would proceed as it normally did with the kids chatting while they ate which of course included some antics from the twins bugging Matteo, today's topic being which Lucario Man movie was the best. Eventually the bell would ring indicating lunch was over and the kids proceeded to get up, clean their area up, and proceed off to the next period. Fela would end up walking to class with Tristen.

"Do they have Vivillon in Johto?" Fela would randomly ask Tristen as they left the cafeteria together, the girl having only talked about ice cream and other desserts since Penny's suggestion, the topic suddenly changing back to Vivillon. "Maybe something like it?"

With the arrangement after school settled, Tristen would go on with lunch with the usual affair, enjoying his school friends’ company as they went on. Once again, the twins went on about something that Tristen hadn’t the slightest about, which eventually the twins were to pick up on. The twins would attempt to regale Tristen of the whole tale of Lucario Man, the many powers he had and the strife he went through to save the day. Tristen wondered if that was just another anime that Penny likes to talk about which she was quick to dismiss. So quick in fact that Tristen wasn’t sure if there really wasn’t an anime, or if Penny didn’t want to get caught up in the twins antics of fictional superheroes. Florian would chime in his two cents incidentally enough about if he had to watch a movie to pick a couple of earlier ones, like Lucario Man Returns. The later ones which had a much different director, let alone completely different vision for the fictional hero, apparently was severely panned. Especially one where he fought Zubatman. Another hero that Tristen knew nothing of.

Tristen would manage to get through his meal just before the bell and continued on with the conversations between everyone until it was time to go. As they all would go their separate ways to attend their next class. Fela would walk along Tristen, since they were all going to the same place. Though, it didn’t really occur to Tristen that usually Fela usually wanted to expedite herself to the next class to make absolutely sure she made it to class and was perhaps more often than not the first one in the class room. When asked about Vivillon possibly being in Jhoto, Tristen could only shake his head. “No, there isn’t any Vivillon in Jhoto that I know of. If there were, they’d have to be really, really rare there. What we got instead were the Butterfree that I told you about before. They evolve from tiny Caterpie, then into a hard shelled Metapod, before finally becoming a Butterfree, similarly to how Scatterbug eventually become Vivillion. Same with our Kanto neighbors.” Tristen explained, taking out his SNAG to start pulling up the Pokedex on his device. He would then show Fela what they would look like, which did have vague likeness if nothing else. “And Hoenn which would be the next closest neighbor to Jhoto has Beautifly. Truthfully? Before coming to Paldea, the most common spot that I knew Vivillon to be at were in the Kalos region.” He then would say, switching images to the Beautifly out of Hoenn and showing her that image as well.
