...Teddy paused, frowning at the back of Chris' head. "...what did Cho say about me?" He knew he was a good guy, he didn't need confirmation of that. That's why he was going to Hero High. To be a hero...not a villain. Right? "What are you talking about?"
Cho was from the future. Had he seen something? "What did I do in the future?"
His phone went off with another text. Billy. When he opened it, he found that it was blank. "Spaz," he muttered before returning his attention to Chris.

"Wait!" Amadeus shouted out, but it was too late. A couple of turns down the underground corridors, and Logan was on top of Powell, Dani and Teddy. Putting himself in between Teddy and Dani, Logan popped out his claws at the blonde boy.
"Head back down the tunnel, you two. I'll take care of the skrull."
"Stop!" Cho shouted. "It's not what you think!"
"Hrrrrgahh!" Logan, who was clearly not in the mood for stopping and calmly discussing which skrulls were good and which ones were bad, thrust a clawed hand at Teddy's throat.
"Argh, sprock..." Amadeus pointed at the two of them, and a glowing force field popped up. Logan's claws bounced off. After a couple of seconds, the force field flickered and vanished. "Will. You. LISTEN? .....Sir?"
"This is Teddy Altman. He's the lynchpin of the Skrull invasion plan. But he's also the key to preventing it. But NOT IF YOU KILL HIM." Breathing hard and shaking out the hand that had struck the force field, Logan scowled, and backed off.
"Fine. For now. But I've got my eye on you, kid." Logan pointed at Teddy. Cho facepalmed. This was a disaster, through and through.
"What's the story with the force field power now, Cho?" Logan grumbled. "I sprained my wrist on that damn thing."
"It's something I'm working on." Cho sighed, holding up a smoking, charred belt buckle. "And it's not perfected. And, I doubt I'll be able to get it to work again. I was hoping it would be a last defense when I needed to protect us. I just didn't think it would be against our mentor."
Logan grumbled something as he pushed his way to the head of the group.
'Rassafrassin' future kid...rassafrassin' present kids...rasafrassin' skrull kids...All right. Look. We can't go back to the cabin for now. I gutted a couple skrulls in the front yard. So we're going to head to an alternate retreat...Zinda's secret bunker."
"Least...I hope it's still here..." Logan mumbled as he led them onward.

His question went unanswered as a very angry man barged in front of him, yelling about skrulls and danger. Skrulls? Did he mean Teddy? "Look, you've got the wrong Skru---" he was cut off by Cho's protests, but none of that seemed to matter. Before he could even think to change into something greener, there were claws coming towards him and then they bounced away off of a bubble? A magic bubble?
He waited until the man - Logan (the Logan?!)- settled and the bubble disappeared before he followed again. "Wait...why...what do you mean this all rests on me? I thought I was just...kind of minor?" Like, they would just kidnap him and make him a prince kind of minor.

"Wow. That came from your belt?" Dani looked at the belt as she followed Logan and the guys while the Hightailed it outs of there. She was Glad 'Cho' was ok and he protected Teddy.
"I gotta say, future tech is really cool. Problem is it's busted now. Can you fix it? I don't know what your powers are, You kinda secretive, I get it. But I'd feel better if I knew you be ok."
She looked up to Chris's pouting and Teddy's confusion. She helped them out.
"Teddy, you don't know? You are king of earth and the Skrulls. At least it's possible if we don't stop them."
She nodged Chris a little.
"So, oh fearless leader, you got any bright ideas that don't involve destroying the school? ... again."

King of Earth? And the Skrulls? That actually sounded kind of cool unless it was in some sort of really evil way. But if he was King, couldn't he make it so that everyone got along and people shared and nobody was malicious and stupid?
Probably not. He'd been here long enough to realize that it was far too much for him to ask for.
"Should I play along?" he asked, "Let them think I'm on their side? Like a spy?
Or do you have something else in mind?"

We should do dinner. I can cook. Hartley is tired from fighting for me all the time.
Not that he wasn't worth it. He was totally worth it. Sending the text to Teddy, he rolled over on the bed and cracked open a book, kissing the top of Hartley's head as he did so. He'd been sleeping for a while now, but he'd earned it.

Yes, I have an idea, Dani. And Teddy just figured out part of it. We'll need him as a spy....and you as well. But we can talk about it when we hit Zinda's armory. If I remember correctly, she has some nice torpedoes for all to see.

The bell over the door at Blackhawks *dings* as Billy sets foot inside, intent on some chow.
"Hey Squirt!" Zinda called out from behind the counter. "Been awhile."
"Yeah." Billy smiled as he moved forward and had a seat on a stool at the counter. "Feels like forever since I last ate."
"Yeah, well..." Zinda smiled and leaned her hands on the counter top. "Belly Buster?"
"You read my mind!"

"Torpideo's huh? And My Assets... Didn't you just come back form a weekend with Cassie?"
She nudged him playfully. It was not a shocker that they al missed their friends. But Chris and Casie had something special. There was no doubt.
"OK fine we'll wait until Zinda's. But what the hell do you mean Teddy and Me. Don't get me wrong I wouldn't mind the alone time. Not exactly my Idea of a good first date, but I digress."
She pokes Chris in the chest.
"What about you. Last I check neither of us could go invisible like you can. Where are you going to be when We are off playing "Le femme Nikita" with the replacements?"

Achilles watched as Wally and his sister just left him outside of the school and this ... "Danger Room", just as if he weren't there any longer. He seemed surprised at the genuine level of hurt that Wally displayed over his joking and reluctance to conform -- was that the word? Then it was Achilles himself who felt hurt at the stinging barb from his best friend as he walked away with his sister.
Achilles glanced back up toward the door of this strange place and studied it. He could conform, whatever that meant, if it made his friend and sister happy. Yet something made him feel strangely hesitant about setting foot in that place.
Another time, then.
He then found his way around campus and back in the stables, just as Wally predicted. Achilles walked over to where Mysia was and felt something sticky on his feet and glanced down. He frowned at his having stepped in some funky green goo. He looked around and saw several other spots of this 'goo' on the stable floor at different spots.
Achilles looked up at Mysia and frowned, "Have you been eating your fruits too fast again?"

No...Zinda really does have a fine set of torpedoes. She brags about them all the time. Anyway, I would love to follow in my stealth armor and rescue Cassie. But I can't take the chance that the Skrulls won't have some way to detect me. I think you and Teddy have the best chance to be accepted by the Skrulls.
Are we almost there yet?

No one goes anywhere without backup. And we don't leave anyone behind. Your chances to complete my plan increase with someone's help and Dani is the perfect person. She's been to Mars, Hades, and Hell. She can handle this.
