Abby smiled as the new girl shook her hand. "Nice to meet you, Naomi. My name's Abby."
She listened to how they were talking about the band director and his vacations, smiling to herself. She sat down next to Nick, continuing to listen to their conversations.

Abby sighed as she put her head on Nick's shoulder. "Well, my dad had to go overseas again, so he sent me to live with my grandma in Virginia...and I was having this lady from the school send me all the lessons and stuff. So it was liek I was being home schooled...kinda."
She fiddled with the zipper on her jacker. "Luckily, I convinced my grandma to send me back here. I mean, I can take care of myself..."
