By the time Lena had woken, Shinji was already fully dressed and sitting with his knees drawn up, his cheek resting on his knee, in one of the large plush chairs. His eyes were on the ground, and his hair was still quite messy, as though he'd forgotten to comb through it when he woke.

Lena sat up, straightening her hair out a bit as she looked over to Shinji, "Is something the matter...?"

Shinji let his eyes move to Lena, not moving otherwise. no...I'm okay...he said softly, averting his gaze again. There were many things the matter, he just didn't quite know where to start.

"no you're not..." she said, shaking her head as she stood from the bed "I can tell you're not..." she started toward him as she said "please just tell me what's wrong..."

Shinji shook his head and shifted to lean back against the back of the chair, arms still around his knees. I'm just thinking...he whispered, eyes shut softly. Wondering why people do what they do....

"and why are you wondering that...?" Lena asked, as she dropped down to the ground infront of him, looking up at him she continued "please just tell me what's up.... I love you, and I want to know what's wrong..."

Shinji shifted to place his feet on the floor, on either side of Lena. He leaned forward some and rested his elbows on his knees, his hands clasped, his gaze on the floor. I just...feel...like I'm doing everything wrong...he said softly, his voice cracking some. I feel like I have no self control, and that I keep straying even though I have you to care for and keep happy...He paused and shook his head, feeling as though he was going to throw up. He let his head hang some, his hair covering his face enough for the tears to well without being seen.

"straying...?" she asked, in almost a whimper. She was already pretty sure of the answer that she'd be getting, but she needed to hear it from him.

Shinji's shoulders shook slightly as he inwardly sobbed. When you left the club, I went to talk to Opheliah...She was drunk, so I walked her home...I took her inside to make sure she was alright, and we kissed...he told her, his voice shaking horribly as he tried his best not to sob aloud. She told me she loved me...He shifted again to move his hands to cover his face, muffling the repetitive 'I'm a ******** idiot'.

Lena opened her mouth to speak but nothing came out, she took a deep breath and tried again, managing only "I.... I.. d-dunno what to say really..." she ran her fingers through her hair as she sat silently thinking, trying to process what he'd just told her.

I'm sorry, Lena...he whimpered repeatedly, shifting to the floor with her, clinging to her tightly.

Lena didn't push him away, she didn't really move much at all. She hung her head as she tried to speak, finally managing to mumble "I... just need to know... w-why... why'd you do it...?" she looked up at him with sad eyes as she waited for an answer.

I really...don't know...he mumbled, trembling as he had to force himself to speak. He could sense that Lena didn't want to touch him at the moment, so he shifted to the side and wrapped his arms aroudn his legs again. He shook his head in thought and rested his forhead to his knees. I wish it never happened...he mumbled again, wrapping about himself tightly.

Lena sat silently thinking for a moment, she reached over and brushed Shinji's cheek, lifting his head by his chin to look at him as she spoke "I know you're sorry.... but, I wanna know... why didn't you tell me right away..? why'd you wait till now....?"

This question was going to be harder for him to answer. He wanted to tell her that he could be in more than one place at any given time, but he didn't want to confuse her. I...d... he studdered a moment, biting his lip. I didn't wait...I... he swallowed hard and looked to her, eyes full of tears as he fought silently with himself. I just got back...from wandering through the underground...i came here as soon as i left there...he told her, voice small, shaky.
