Leon Court The breeze should've been enough to tip off the teacher, but Leon was too caught up in his act to notice. He jumped in surprise at the familiar voice. Taking a breath to calm himself, he slid his hands into his pockets and shrugged. " I guess you could say that," he mumbled, boot toeing the ground. " I don't think Nikolai knows anything yet." Leon paused, pulling his hands from his pockets to look at them. How much death had he brought about with these hands?

 " Killing for the sake of staying alive. A trait that's undeniable, although it's amazing how both of you have come to know that pain so quickly." said Chaos quietly. " Nikolai may not know now, but he will soon. Whether it's caused by you or Chance is a mystery to me." He tilted his head up to glance upward at the sky, watching it gain colors with the rising sun, yet the shade promised another hour of darkness. " I wonder," he started wistfully. " By the time he knows what's happening... will you?"

Leon Court " It's more than that," he insisted. " It's for us, for our future. The world won't rest until we're separated. Fate is always trying to destroy our love. I'm trying to protect us." He followed Chaos' gaze, shaking his head. " I know what I'm doing is for the best. He'll understand. He did the same thing to the Council when they killed me." He caught his breath at the memory, his latest death stirring that anger he'd worked so hard to keep under control for so long. " He'll understand." Leon repeated, completely sure that it was true. Clenching his fists, he stared back at the firepit, then to the man beside him. " What do you mean?" he asked at the man's question.

 " Taking a life takes a lot out of someone. Losing it takes even more." Chaos answered dreamily, still not looking at Leon. He stared for what felt like hours, his eyes finally following a crow that flew overhead. Finally, he tilted his head back down and looked at the dying fire. He could hear the sound of movement from inside the house. " You'll find taking a life so easy that I worry if you'll stop realizing whose life is what. Or if they will." The fire was gone, whether it was by nature or something else was a mystery. By the time Leon would take his focus off the fire he'd see that Chaos was gone as well.

Leon Court Leon remained standing in silence, the fading embers of the tiny bonfire his dying companion. He couldn't stand the thought of Nikolai rejecting him based on what he'd done, especially since Nikolai had probably done worse. With a small sigh, he dusted his hands off, then turned to go back towards the house. Chaos was right, he was starting to lose his sense of what was what. It was becoming so much easier to kill an innocent person than before. Wait, innocent? None of those people were innocent! They were all trying to get between himself and Nikolai! Assured of his actions, Leon stepped into the house and slipped his boots off, stretching his arms over his head before walking into the kitchen. " Pancakes," he mumbled to himself as he got to work making breakfast. They had to leave to the funeral by eleven, so it would be best to get breakfast out of the way quickly.

  Ten minutes later both Nikolai and Aysun walked to the dining room. Aysun was dressed in a small black suit with shorts instead of slacks, and despite Nikolai's outfit being his usual suit it was buttoned up correctly with his shirt tucked in and his tie fastened on. Aysun was curious about where they were going, but his uncle's unusual silence made him decide not to ask.

Leon Court Leon set down the large plate of pancakes, wiping his hands on a dish towel before nodding to the two. " You two eat. I'm going to shower and get dressed." He started past them, pausing by Nikolai's side. His hand briefly touched his husband's before drawing away, hurrying up the stairs. Twenty minutes past, and Leon finally came down the stairs. He was dressed in a simple black suit with a dark pink tie, a gift from Melody long before Nikolai ever noticed he existed. He cleared his throat, pushing his hair back, then walked into the dining room. " Are you two ready to go?" he asked quietly.

 ~~~Aysun stood at the edge of the bed, watching Uncle Leon carefully. There was a wound on his chest he had seen before Uncle Nikki wrapped it up, and Uncle Leon was sleeping strangely. Even Uncle Nikki was acting weird. He didn't show anything on his face, but he kept talking normally. In truth, Sloth had kept Nikolai's emotions when he broke his own soul- from one soul to another. It was a long process, but Nikolai was getting his emotions back. By the time Leon would wake up Nikolai would be back to normal. The Sin watched Leon carefully. Would this really stop him? Or would it encourage him to be more careful about sneaking out to attack?
Leon Court It took several hours, but Leon finally began to stir. His chest ached and he felt like he'd been run over by a couple trucks, but at leas the was alive. His eyes darted around the room, then squeezed shut as he tried to sit up. " What the h-ll happened?" he grunted, having to pause several times before managing to sit upright.
  " Mmm, welcome back, darling." mused Nikolai from the edge of the bed, one leg cross and a cup of coffee in his hand. This was his third cup. On the foot of the bed, curled up with a small blanket, was sleeping Aysun. Through the window it looked dark, but with some light coming from the arriving dawn. " Do you remember anything you did earlier today? Or yesterday, I suppose." the Sin asked.
Leon Court " Bits and pieces," he said honestly, ever the caring parent as he reached down to adjust Aysun's blanket to better cover him. He looked up to Nikolai, his eyes flashing. He may not remember everything, but he clearly remembered being caught. Leon knew that his husband knew the truth.
  " Hmm." Nikolai grunted and looked back at his coffee. He stared at it for an uncomfortably long time, muttering, " Where to start?" before gazing back at Leon. " I confronted you about your... censorship. You ran away, and when I caught up to me you attacked me." He motioned to Leon's wound. " I fought back, if you haven't noticed by now. I went a bit too far, I'm afraid. I'm sorry." He sighed to himself and took a sip of his coffee. Lowering the mug, he stayed silent and swished the coffee in its mug for a while before asking quietly, " Are you done?" He turned to face his husband, eyes glinting with something. " I hate having to fight off Fate just as much as you, dearie, I really do, but we can't go around killing everyone that as much as frowns at us. Otherwise we'd be the only ones left."
Leon Court Shaking his head at his own stupidity, Leon's turned his gaze to the wall, staring hard as he listened. His memories were becoming a little clearer, but they were still hazy. However, Nikolai's description of the events removed the need for clarification. " Would that really be so bad?" he asked, his eyes returning to Nikolai. " Being the only ones left, would that be that terrible?"
  " Yes." Nikolai answered without hesitation. " Who else would deliver my pizza? Yes, well, joke's aside... Think of it this way, dearie, if we were to be the only ones left, where would this one be?" he asked as he gently set a hand on Aysun's small shoulder. The touch riled the boy to slowly wake up, looking over to see the two watching him. " Mmm... Uncle Leon?" he mumbled as he sat up, rubbing the sleepiness from one eye. " Are you feeling better?"
Leon Court Leon had spent so much time justifying his actions with trying to protect his marriage that he'd nearly forgotten the one thing more important. It had taken several lives and the worst fight he and Nikolai had ever had to open his eyes. Tears arose as Aysun woke up, and Leon reached for his ward's hand. " Yes, I am," he answered before tugging the child closer for a hug. He looked to Nikolai, the madness finally clearing from his mind as he stared at his husband. " I'm so sorry," he whispered.
