Be the dark of the night to ensure the village's light of day.

Tetsuhiko returned in a hurry and approached Bast-sensei, Damien, and Sonyo. "Please excuse my sudden disappearance, that was very rude of me." He bowed apologetically to the three hoping they would pardon him. He returned as soon as he could from the Superdome and was relieved that he made his appointment on time.
It was worth it, however, because he had the puppets he needed. He felt very pleased with himself for his perfect artistic creations. "It's art!" The Iron Prince thought to himself with a warm, fuzzy feeling inside. His ears were then tuned in to hear what the others had to say now.

((I return!))

Bast was about to respond to Tetsuhiko's question when her assistant, Mononoke, interrupted with a message. The woman was subsequently distracted by a situation unfolding at her estate, where her sister had decided to drop by unannounced for all of five minutes before leaving suddenly, leaving the kettle on behind her and a few odd snakes slithering through the house. Bast's attention to the subject was mainly due to the latter, as she'd had to instruct her golems how to track down and exterminate the snakes without damaging the house, which meant not entering it at all for some of the heavier ones. By the time that problem had been eliminated and the kettle situation handled, she found her students' conversations had partially stalled out.

"Tetsuhiko," she called over to the boy, recently returned from his errand. "You're doing well, but a note for the future: when trying to swat a fly, a newspaper does better than a chopstick. You can make up for a lack in speed or accuracy by substituting a suitable area of effect or movement denial. For example..."

The woman made a couple of hand seals and pointed her hand straight up, where the blast of wind that issued forth from her palm would dissipate harmlessly into the air overhead.

"...that attack is more likely to hit something small and fast than a shuriken would be, and may be more cost-effective than trying to magnetize a target you can't hit. Of course, it's also pointless if it won't do anything to the opponent, so always be sure to gauge the effectiveness of your tools. In the case of a Jiton user, it wouldn't be too far-fetched to send out a layer of iron sand across the ground to trip up or ensnare the target, or even to keep track of their movements and weigh them down."

With that issue out of the way, Bast set about addressing Sonyo's question. The woman would absolutely love to go to Takumi, but she'd have to inform Ayame that she was taking some of the lower-level shinobi with her, then take precautions in case of attack, which typically meant bringing along one or more of her golems.

"Don't sell yourself short," she told Sonyo while wracking her brain for a decision, "knowing how to take apart and rebuild a person is a kind of expertise distinct from the specialists'. We can all head out to Takumi in... hm... let me get in touch with Lady Ayame and see what she thinks first. If all's good, we can head out later today or sometime tomorrow."

That said, she formed a clone and tasked it with delivering the request to Ayame. It wrote out a short, simple message and would carry it forth posthaste:

      Lady Ayame,

I'd like to take Sonyo, Damien, and Tetsuhiko on a trip to Takumi. The exercise would do us all good. Do you approve?

After receiving a return note from Ayame, Bast glanced over it, folded it up, and then shredded it.

"Good news, all: we're going to Takumi. Take a breather and reconvene at the gates when you're ready," she announced matter-of-factly. "I need to grab some things before we head out, so I'll meet up with you at that location. Anyone who's not there when I show up, isn't going."

With that, she extended a Chakra-laced finger into the air, drew a summoning seal, and vanished into it. The seal faded out of existence barely a breath later.

Be the dark of the night to ensure the village's light of day.

When Bast-sensei spoke to him he found the insight to be inspirational to almost a comedic extent. "A newspaper is better than a chopstick." He repeated to himself mentally as he absorbed her advice and watched her contact the Kazekage on a whim. He supposed it made sense considering she is the predecessor Kazekage. It was impressive to him nevertheless as he watched it take place. Once the Kazekage responded Bast-sensei stated her traveling intentions and disappeared without a traits, he reveled in her power.

Tetsuhiko then formed three hand signs before a figure appeared before him.The king stood tall and proud as Tetsuhiko attached his chakra threads to it.He methodically moved his fingers about and stretched them as Caesar began moving. It took a few steps before Tetsuhiko stopped it and began moving its mechanisms about.

Suddenly, the puppet's back opened and the short shinobi jumped in. Once the hatch closed he settled himself inside of his puppet in such a way that he could see and breathe through it. The towering puppet suddenly turned around to view the others in his company. "Hopefully I'll see you at the gates momentarily, if not, I hope we cross paths again soon." With that the performer left the stage.

Damien smiled and placed some of the scrolls in a small pouch on his vest, he heard that there was going to be a trip and to be prepared; he was going to do just that. He wanted to make sure that he had everything before he walked to the gates of the Village, he had a quick catching up to do.

Masato entered the dojo, full of shinobi practicing the Pi Qua Quan Taijutsu. Masato, while very interested in Taijutsu was struggling to see the effectiveness of this particular style. Instead, there was an older gentleman in the corner, teaching something that seemed much more....effective. At least in Masato's mind. As the man's students practiced they seemed swift and had a much more direct combat style. Masato would silently fall in line with these practitioners to begin learning the Xi Linhue Quan.

The first technique the sensei would instruct upon was Shishi Ashi, Lion's Paw.
With an open fist and clenched fingers, resembling a paw with ones hand, Masato would thrust his hand outward, rotating it horizontally as it came to its maximum reach. Its swift retraction would cause a whipping sound from the sleeve of his jacket. Upon a flesh target the rotation of the hand in such a manner would be quite painful.

After several dozen repetitions of the technique, Shishi Ashi, the instructor would begin combining this single powerhouse strike into swift combinations, striking multiple times on a single foe. This technique is known as Tora no Kobushi, Tiger Fists. This technique would increase in its volley size for each increased application of stamina one could exert upon it, resulting in a potential onslaught of rapid strikes.

The style's next technique was slightly more dynamic, having Masato crouch down into a readied position. The instructor had each student hold this crouched position until all were low enough to begin execution. As the technique was demonstrated, Masato observed that this technique, Ryu Kiba, Dragon Fang, was a swift uppercut from this position that involved disrupting an opponent's motion. The instructor used a senior student to demonstrate, knocking him several feet into the air. As Masato repeated this technique and executed it time after time to ensure his first attempts at it were not incorrect he began to feel more confident in his abilities.

[Formless Style: Hard Physical [2/2]]

Again Masato swung. Left and right his fist punched through the air, to which then he added in another kick for good measure. It was imperative to train every aspect of his body. His arms rose to block and from the shielded position he fired off a few jabs. He was ready to fight and become a warrior for Suna.

The fourth technique taught for the day out of the five total would be the Gurindesutini, Crouching Tiger. The Crouching Tiger technique was a counter attack executed by parrying the foe's attack during a sequecial attack. Once the attack is parried the user steps to the outside of the foe, using their nearest leg to reap their own leg and deliver a powerful, swift punch to their sternum.

Feeling fatigue towards the end of the two hour long training session, Masato began to learn his final technique. This technique, Gao Tetsushi, Roaring Iron Finger involved the practitioner taking a wide horse stance. From this position the user brings both arms in tight towards their sides, at the oppertune moment, the user extends their hand outward, striking the opponent with their index and middle fingers together. This jab, as demonstrated by the instructor had the potential for lethality. The instructor took a brick, placing it upon the table in the corner and struck it with his two finger jab. This jab would pierce the cement brick with ease. Masato would also practice upon a brick later in the session, but like most new students, was unable to pierce the brick easily due to the softness of his hands yet from lack of hardened practice. Still, the technique's form was learned with ease.

Satisfied with his training in Taijutsu, Masato would fall out of the formation and pick up a white towel hanging on the wall. Wiping the sweat from his brow he sighed, taking a drink of water from a community pitcher.

Taking a stroll just outside the dojo, he examined the out door training area. Perhaps this was the time to test what he had done when he escaped the laboratory he caught ablaze. His flesh had molded away and became nothing more than a cloude of smoke. As he tried to recall how he had done so, flashes of memories arose. The burning laboratory, a hysterical rage. Then, nothing. As his mind focused on the nothing his flesh began to emit a dark grey, opaque smoke.

Taylor wasted no time when he got to the dojo. He took off the chain scythe off of his belt and wrapped the chain around his two arms and his torso in an x shape. He then swung around his chain to get used to the weight. Once he was sure he could train properly, he began.
(One with the Chain E:Ranked for Taylor)

Taylor wanted to practice fighting within close quarters combat. To begin, he started his punching. He positioned his body so that his right foot was forward while his left foot was back. Then, he raised his fist to his head and brought in his elbows. Finally, he practiced a jab with his right fist followed by a powerful left hook. He pivoted the left foot as he swung with his left fist in order to increase the damage.

Then, he continued his punching. He positioned his body so that his left foot was forward while his right foot was back. Then, he raised his fist to his head and brought in his elbows. Finally, he practiced a jab with his left fist followed by a powerful right hook. He pivoted the right foot as he swung with his right fist in order to increase the damage.

Next he practiced kicking. Taylor started with simple kicks with his left foot which would be used as distractions. He also used his kicking to measure the distance between himself and his imagined opponent. Finally, he placed his left foot down in order to performing a spinning kick with his right foot. Once he finished his spin he landed and readied for his next attack.

Taylor continued to practice kicking. Taylor switched his two legs and started with simple kicks with his right foot which would be used as distractions. He also used his kicking to measure the distance between himself and his imagined opponent. Finally, he placed his right foot down in order to performing a spinning kick with his left foot. Once he finished his spin he landed and readied for his next attack.

Finally Taylor practiced blocking. He brought both feet under himself in order to support his balance. He then raised his arms and kept them bent with his forearms blocking his face. Finally, he envisioned using both arms to block a strike coming at his face and torso. Once he practiced enough times he readied himself for further training.

(Formless Training: Hard Physical B-ranked for Taylor)

Before he mastered more of the chain scythe, however, Taylor secured the weapon on his belt and began to move around. He practiced dodging, shifting himself suddenly from left to right. He moved suddenly from left to right in order to successfully dodge. After he was sure that he had the basics down, he moved onto the next task.

Taylor wanted to double his chances of dodging. He practiced dodging, shifting himself suddenly from left to right. He moved suddenly from left to right in order to successfully dodge. He also practiced dodge rolls like that one boy with the really big key. After he was sure that he had the basics down, he moved onto the next task.

Parrying was an important part of combat. Since Taylor was not strong enough to overpower an opponent, he had to learn to let the object be deflected. Taylor practiced with a kunai deflecting kunai launched at him. He then bent his knees and imaged an enemy slamming down with a massive sword upon Taylor. Taylor allowed the imaginary strike to slide down the path of the kunai to his right side.

Once again Taylor wanted to practice parrying. Since Taylor was not strong enough to overpower an opponent, he really had to learn to let the object be deflected. Taylor practiced with a kunai deflecting kunai launched at him. He then bent his knees and imaged an enemy slamming down with a massive sword upon Taylor. Taylor allowed the imaginary strike to slide down the path of the kunai to his right side.

His final trick was to master the art of throwing. Taylor practiced for hours throwing his kunai. When it hit the target he would call it back with the wind retrieval technique and practice again. Again and again he practiced his throw, perfecting his aim and his speed as he did so. Once he was confidant in the speed which he threw the kunai, he placed it in his pouch and wrapped around his chain scythe around his body so that the majority of the length was wrapped around his arms, while his left hand held the weighted end, while with his right hand held the sickle by the handle.

(Formless Style: Soft Physical: Taylor B-ranked)

Taylor then loosened the chain around the sickle and held the weapon by said chain. He swung the chain around which caused the sickle to fly about. While doing so, he imagined protecting himself from projectile attacks. Once he finished he pulled on the scythe in a way which propelled the weapon back into his right hand.
(Deflect: E-ranked for Taylor)

Taylor was adamant about learning, however. He returned the chain on his right hand and loosened it on his left. He then tossed the weight attached to the end toward a dummy. The chain wrapped around the dummy. With a solid tug Taylor knew that he had secured his lasso technique, which made him pull the chain in a different way to return the weight to his left hand.

Once that he was sure that he mastered the technique, Taylor practiced it again. The trick to becoming a successful ninja was to practice constantly. Taylor performed this trick again and again. When he was sure that he mastered it he took a break.
(Wrap: C-ranked for Taylor)

When Taylor returned from his break, he grabbed the chain in his right hand which was still wrapped around the dummy. His mind pondered an attack which would allow him to strike a bound enemy. He thought of how to do it, so first he figured he would try force.

Taylor raised his right arm as he gave himself some extra slack in the chain. He then threw his arm down which caused a ripple to form in the chain. The ripple followed the path to the chain until it collided with the chain enveloping the dummy. Taylor tried pure strength to use the attack, but nothing seemed to do any damage. It was then that he decided to apply chakra.

Taylor once again rose his right arm while providing the extra slack. He channeled his chakra through the chain which caused the chain to work like a circuit. Then, with an extra burst of chakra and stamina he slammed down his right arm. A blast of chakra from from the ripple that formed with the swing, and followed through the chain toward the entangled dummy. When the ripple reached the end there was an explosion which completely engulfed the dummy. Taylor's chain was shot back while there was nothing which remained of the target.
(Crack the Whip: B-ranked custom for Taylor)

Taylor had one more basic technique to perfect. He spun the chain around which caused the weight to move in a circular rotation by his side. Once he readied himself he flung the grip of his chain forward which caused the weight to fly in the direction of his arm. The weight collided squarely into the head of the dummy, which was Taylor’s aim as he used retrieving wind to call back the weight.

Once that he was sure that he mastered the technique, Taylor practiced it again. He practiced with his chain and he practiced the art of throwing. His arms moved back and forth in order to move around the weight of the chain and the object attached at the end.
(Throw: D-ranked for Taylor)

Now that level one was done, it was time for level two. Taylor withdrew the slack from the weight and gave slack to the sickle as he spun the bladed weapon by the chain. He then threw the sickle with precision at the dummy. As the chain scythe missed the head, Taylor pulled back the chain which instantly returned the weapon back to him. On the way back the sickle sliced clean open the top of the Dummy’s head.

Once that he was sure that he mastered the technique, Taylor practiced it again. The trick to becoming a successful ninja was to practice constantly. Taylor performed this trick again and again. When he was sure that he mastered it he took a break.
(Sew: D-ranked for Taylor)

The next technique Taylor wanted to master was how to trap enemies in his wrappings. He spun the sickle by the chain as he then shifted his upper right torso back while throwing his right arm back. When he threw his right arm forward he also tossed his shoulder forward in order for the sickle to be thrown at an angle. This caused the sickle to successfully wrap around a dummy.

Once he called his weapon back he did the same thing with the weighted end. He spun the weighted end by the chain as he then shifted his upper left torso back while throwing his left arm back. When he threw his left arm forward he also tossed his shoulder forward in order for the weighted end to be thrown at an angle. This caused the sickle to successfully wrap around a dummy.

(Ball and Chain: Learned up to D-rank for Taylor)

Now that Taylor had his sickle back, he practiced parrying with the blade. He bent his knees in anticipation of an opponent who outweighed him. He bent his elbows and held the weapon with both hands in order to maximize the weight which he could deflect. Finally, he practiced sliding the weapon away so that he could possibly sweep to disarm him. These were the steps to a proper parry.

Once that he was sure that he mastered the technique, Taylor practiced it again. The trick to becoming a successful ninja was to practice parrying constantly. This was going to be vital in order to defeat the enemies who will try to overpower him.
(Parry: D-ranked for Taylor)

While he knew he wouldn't finish training in stage two at this moment in lieu of learning stage three, Taylor wanted to master one complex technique. Its workings is to throw the chain scythe portion into the ground while applying chakra to the weapon. This will let the weapon sink into the ground, and work as a sort of anchor.

Taylor practiced by channeling chakra throughout his weapon. He focused his chakra into the sickle of his chain scythe. Finally, he leaped into the air and threw his chain scythe down at his targeted location. Rather than colliding with the ground the sickle dug into the ground and stopped moving around five feet in. Taylor landed and tugged on the chain but the sickle was secured where it struck. Once he was sure he mastered it Taylor pulled back on the chain to return the sickle.

Once that he was sure that he mastered the technique, Taylor practiced it again. The trick of burrowing the sickle would eventually become more useful once he learned how to make the weapon come out of the ground. However, at his current point of training, Taylor was sure that he could find use for it.
(Burrowing Sickle: D-ranked complex for Taylor)

Now for stage three, Taylor let go of the sickle and held the weapon by its chain. He spun it circularly to his right side as he looked for a place to grapple onto. Finally he came across the ledge of one of the patios of the dojo. Taylor aimed and shot his sickle above the ledge.

The sickle hooked into the ledge with minimum difficulty. Taylor wrapped the slack of the chain around his arm until he stood directly under the patio. He then pulled on the chain to make sure that the sickle was in place. Once he was sure that it was, he began to climb up it. Although he wasn’t truly trained to do such a thing, he climbed up relatively easy. The chain never caved up, and he reached the top.

Once that he was sure that he mastered the technique, Taylor practiced it again. Having a grappling hook technique would be vital for learning how to topple larger opponents. If Taylor could master the element of surprise then there would be no enemy that he could defeat. That was what he trained to do.
(Grappling Hook: C-ranked for Taylor)

With Taylor on top of the patio, he wrapped the excess slack of the sickle side around his right arm and loosened the chains around his left arm so that the weight would drop down. He then began to spin the chain in a circular motion as he kept adding more and more length. As he continued the length of the chain attached to the weighed end, he poured chakra into the whole weapon. When he finished, he whipped the weighed end down by tugging down on the chain, before then tugging swiftly in the opposite direction, and having the chain fly straight into the air.

Taylor allowed all of the chain to fly into the air as he let the chain slide in between the grip of his left hand, all while holding the sickle with his right one. He imagined Horus catching the chain in the air so that he could fly away. As he imagined this, however, he saw the training dummy he practiced with. He then slammed the chain downward with his left hand as the weighed end flew straight down onto the head of the dummy.

Once that he was sure that he mastered the technique, Taylor practiced it again. Taylor practiced again and again throwing the weighted end into the air. He then kept making sure to aim the end at different areas. Taylor had to make sure he mastered it in order to succeed in battle.
(Hey! Over There!: D-ranked for Taylor)

Now that he was on stage four, Taylor knew that he was going to be pushed even harder than ever. He jumped down to the ground and practiced moving quickly. He begun spinning the chain from both ends as he practiced being accustomed to the additional weight thrown around by doing so. He was determined to master this training.

He wasn’t starting off on a good note. Within the first ten minutes he found himself either wrapped up with the chain of either his right hand or the left. One time he even managed to get wrapped by both chains and performed a split. He was in quite a bit of pain from a personal area because of it.

Nevertheless, he continued training. Harder and harder he worked. Fate told him that he would never become anything of value. He began this life as a slave, and that was supposed to be his life. He escaped that narrative, however, and now he was getting better with these chains.

Sure enough, after three hours of constant movement of both himself and the chains, he became accustomed to it. Despite swinging both chains around he found himself able to keep the weights in check. He found himself moving faster and his reflexes enhancing. Once he stopped moving he nearly crashed onto the ground. He had to take a break, otherwise he would pass out.

Once that he was sure that he mastered the technique, Taylor practiced it again. The trick to becoming a successful ninja was to practice constantly. Taylor practiced his speed and reflexes enhancements in order to succeed. Once he was sure that he had done so, he practiced even more to guarantee his success.
(Quick Step: B-ranked for Taylor)

As he sat down and relaxed, a shadow engulfed him. Taylor looked up and saw Horus descending upon him. The majestic bird gently lowered himself until he landed. "Hey Horus." Taylor said in between his heavy breaths. "I thought you were going go to the office?" Taylor asked. The bird twisted his head left and right a few times before he lowered it onto Taylor's lap. Taylor smiled as he pet the bird's face, who looked up at him to make sure he will continue petting. His wings folded up as he relaxed, and his knees bent.

Taylor wanted to begin by practicing his chakra control by practicing the various hand seals. Tiger, dragon, rat, and the others were formed by his hands over and over again. He would control his breathing with calm inhales and exhales at a steady, repetitive pace.

As he practiced the hand signs he moved around his chakra for extra control.
He continued his breathing as he did so. He could feel this energy moving throughout his system. Eventually, he would settle his chakra before commencing another round of chakra movement.

His focus increased as he felt himself making progress on his chakra control.
This was an area he was naturally gifted in as a ninja so deeply interested in ninjutsu, but practice always helps the inexperienced ninja. He formed another round of handsigns as his chakra settled again.

Another round of hand seals were performed as he folded his fingers into the different shapes. He felt the power stirring through him and he found it rather addicting. Once again he settled his chakra, feeling a greater sense of his own power.

Once more he practiced the hand signs and began the movement of chakra through his internal chakra network. As the chakra moved through him he began to sweat a little before he allowed it to settle again. Now he felt a greater sense of control as well as an increased pool of chakra.

Taylor commenced his second round of meditation by beginning his steady breathing exercises. Inhale, exhale, in, out, calmness began to wash over him as the anxiety vanished. He could feel his chakra begin to move a little bit as he performed his breathing.

Once the breathing began he started to stretch his fingers and form all of the hand seals in order in a steady fashion. As his fingers formed the various shapes he felt himself gain a little more control over his chakra. He continued to fold his hands into the hand seals as his chakra movement began to intensify.

Now that his chakra was in full motion and the hand seals allowed him more control he began to sweat. The chakra flowed through his body at various points as he attempted to gain control. Once he could not physically handle more chakra movement he settled it.

With more breathing and hand sign performance he moved his chakra through his body some more. The movement felt much stronger than before and he used all of his concentration to manage it. The chakra finally settled in his core again.

Taylor certainly felt a difference after several minutes of meditation,
but it felt as though mere seconds passed because he was so tuned it.
It was a similar sensation to feeling in flow when performing a lightning ninjutsu, singing, or braiding his hair as the time just flew by. He moved his chakra throughout his entire network with much greater precision. After many more moments he exhaled triumphantly as his settled chakra pool grew.

Once the breathing began he started to envision fingers in his mind and form all of the hand seals in order in a steady fashion. As his imaginary fingers formed the various shapes he felt himself gain a little more control over his chakra. He continued to fold his fake hands into the hand seals as his chakra movement began to intensify.

Now that his chakra was in full motion and the hand seals allowed him more control he began to sweat. The chakra flowed through his body at various points as he attempted to gain control. Once he could not physically handle more chakra movement he settled it.

With more breathing and mental hand sign performance he moved his chakra through his body some more. The movement felt much stronger than before and he used all of his concentration to manage it. The chakra finally settled in his core again.

Horus certainly felt a difference after several minutes of meditation,
but it felt as though mere seconds passed because he was so tuned it.
It was a similar sensation to feeling in flow when performing a lightning ninjutsu, flying, or feeling the breeze as the time just flew by. He moved his chakra throughout his entire network with much greater precision. After many more moments he exhaled triumphantly as his settled chakra pool grew.
(Basic Training: Meditation round 2 for both Taylor and Horus)

After Horus finished meditating, he decided to go out to train.

Horus practiced his natural form of combat. Given that he was a bird he could strike with his talons, peck with his beak, crash with his wings, and use his wings in order to evade attacks. It was for this reason that he would practice all of his formless style in order to be the best bird he could be. No other bird was going to be as good as him.

First he trained with his talons. Horus hovered slightly above the ground and practiced swiping with his talons. He practiced grabbing and tearing into an opponent with his natural appendages. Finally, he landed and sunk his talons into the ground.

Next he practiced pecking with his beak. Back and forth he snapped his head while he struck with his beak. He practiced pecking left and right. Finally, he swung his head all of the way back before he did a great peck forward.

Horus next practiced striking his wings. First he extended his wings outward as a distraction attack against foes. Next he let go of the ground and flew around as he soared parallel to the ground so that his wings could crash against imaginary opponents. Finally he flew up in the air and swooped down for a strong wing attack.

Finally Horus practiced dodging in the air. He pushed his wings in order to quickly dodge the imaginary attack coming at him. Next he swooped down in order to dodge another imaginary technique. Finally he did a barrel roll in the air in order to dodge another strike.

Finally he practiced all of these tricks. First he clawed along with his talons. Then he pecked away at imaginary foes. Next he started flying low to both strike enemies and to dodge imaginary attacks. Once he felt like he mastered it all, he returned to Taylor and landed beside him.
