I have tonight off, and I bought car mats for my truck. Finally. They're very expensive but go up the sides even so they catch everything~.
I just need to go pick them up.
As an aside that is somewhat related to what we were talking about previously, my mom used to be a customs agent. She has a whole bunch of wacky stories. Especially about What do they call them...soviet deserters??

Yeah, I asked my dad why they call certain immigrants deserters or ...gah I can't remember the word if there is a proper one.
And it's because they're from a specific country (Russia maybe??) and you had to have permission to leave. If you didn't and you left, you had to be sneaky and you were called a deserter or whatever, and couldn't go back.
Mom saw families of earlier deserters get off the planes in NFLD on their way back from 'vacations' and never get back on. I guess they used to just abandon their bags, but eventually they started going through the plane and getting their bags for them.

Yeah, she told us about this one family. The dad had come over years before (worked as a cab driver) and the rest of his family got off of a plane where we lived. They didn't speak ANY English and were all really upset, because the guy wasn't there (he showed up later that night) Mom said it was a lady and her little boy and what they found out was her next-door neighbor (they thought it was a grandma at first) I guess the dad came over, never went back and started making a life/house etc for the rest of them and planning for his family to sneak over here too. Then the neighbor found out and threatened to tell unless she got to go along.
Eventually the dad came and everyone was crying because he hadn't seen them all since his son was a baby (like BABY baby). My mom and the other customs people got them set up with their basic packages (like toothbrushes etc) and got their bags off the plane and then they all left.
So random right?

Man thats totally different from what they do here. They would have taken their info, fingerprints, all that jazz, kept them close in some building for a few weeks, then send them back home.

Wow that's a really crazy, but cool story Z. Although I wish the atmosphere in the US was different...but a large part of it is due to politics XP

Maybe it's changed since the 90's though. That's when we lived there.
Then again, they generaly already had family or something living and working so maybe it's not that different.

Mostly the atmosphere now is all terror/afraid of immigrants due to scare tactics thanks to politicians on both sides

yeah....its not very comforting to know that my own government preaches about equal rights, yet goes completely opposite on the matter when it comes to its own laws

I don't care for that kind of drama in my life. Which is why I usually vote for the party here in Canada that gets like no votes (green party ) XD
