The Clefairy was having a bit of a hard time getting to its feet, and the loose sand on the ground really wasn't making it any easier. It looked up at Beldum and growled again but it would be of little use. Jaeshan called out for Beldum to use Take Down one last time and it proved to be too much for the pink Fairy to handle. Stacey recalled it before it could fall over again, grumbling to herself as Beldum hovered back over towards Jaeshan. The Steel/Psychic-type looked quite happy about its win, but at the same time it was starting to look a bit tired. "You're doing great, Beldum. You can stop now if you want to," Jaeshan told it, but Beldum shook its 'head.' A moment or so later its body began to sparkle and just like that Beldum was looking fresh and energetic again. "What the...?" Jaeshan questioned, but he soon remembered that he'd given Beldum, Combusken and Shelgon each a Sitrus Berry to hold on to, and it looked like Beldum had chosen a good time to use it.

Combusken, meanwhile was still sitting in the sand. She'd clapped when Beldum defeated the Clefairy but she couldn't help but feel that it was her battle that Beldum had just fought. Grumbling to herself Combusken continued to watch as Beach Bunny Stacey sent out her second and last Pokemon. A quiet murmur quickly spread over the ground when this pink Pokemon materialized, and Jaeshan recognized it immediately as a Wigglytuff and he frowned.

"Oh, are you scared, Cutie? Well you should be! My Wigglytuff here just evolved last night and she's ready to knock some sense into your tin-can Pokemon! Go Wigglytuff, use Shadow Ball!"

Well at least this one has better attacks, Jaeshan thought, watching as the pink blob summoned up a dark ball of energy and fired it at Beldum. Beldum didn't need to be told to dodge as it zipped straight up into the air as the Shadow Ball plowed into the sand below it.

Sneasel watched the krabby scuttle back and forth across the floor, snapping its pincers over and over again. Sneasel didn’t like the idea of getting up close and personal with that thing as those claws looked even more dangerous than hers were. Riza looked over at Thomas the sailor, wondering what was supposed to happen next.

“You can go ahead and make the first move,” he called out once he saw Riza’s hesitation. “And don’t worry about the Pokemon getting hurt, I have plenty of potions and curative items just in case.”

“Well, all right then. Uh, Sneasel I guess you could start off with Scratch. No, wait, Leer!” Sneasel rolled her eyes and took a step towards the crab Pokemon. Her eyes began to glow with a scary red shine and just for added affect she let out a sharp little growl.

The krabby didn’t seem to like that all too much and scuttled back in fear. “Shake it off, krabby, and fight back with a bubble attack!

Riza nearly burst out laughing when she heard the command as it was the most ridiculous attack name she’d ever heard. However he laughter was quickly stifled when the crab opened up its mouth and a stream of bubbles poured out and settled around Sneasel. Now this didn’t seem to be a problem, but it wasn’t until they began to pop that Sneasel cried out. “An evil bubble attack, how about that,” Riza murmured.

Robin watched the Beldum go down and let out a loud cheer. She was happy to see that the strange gold and silver pokemon could hold its own. When the next pokemon came out though Robin stared at it for a second. It was very... pink. Yeah that was the best word for it. It seemed a lot tougher, maybe, it was hard to take anything that pink seriously. When it launched its attack though Robin knew that it meant business despite its overall pinkness. When the attack missed she 'Oo'd' at Beldums evasiveness and yet out another cheer. "Come on Jaeshan I know you can do it!"

On her shoulder Luffy stared at the pink jellybean that had jut been sent out. It looked delicious and if it wasn't a battle he would have jumped down to see if he could fit it in his mouth. Maybe after the battle he could convince Robin to get him some jellybeans or maybe some cotton candy! He would really like that, and if Robin wouldn't he was sure cool hat man would! After all the man seemed to get him anything he wanted because he didn't seem to really care all that much.

Kilik snapped his fingers and called for Lairon to stop the storm. He had to let everyone see his victory. The sand pillar ceased its swirling then began to disappear as the beast sucked all of the grains into his body. He roared loudly and stamped his foot on the ground. Where was his command? This was going to be the end, he knew it!

"Uh..uh..." Larry panicked, "Snorlax! Use Ice Punch!" The lazy Pokemon stood up slowly and pulled his large hand back into a fist. A chilly breeze encircled it before snowflakes began to fall from his chubby knuckles. The punch swung right for Lairon with all of his 1041 pounds behind it.

The Iron Clad Pokemon felt the connected punch, but didn't flinch. In fact, it barely did anything. All he felt was the clang on his head and a very small chill down his spine. With a mighty roar, he dug his claws into the ground to steady himself. "Go for it!!" Kilik barked, and Lairon went for it indeed. His head plate began to shimmer with a dull gray light and he slammed his head right into Snorlax's stomach. There's that move again! Kilik blinked, biting his lip. Maybe by talking with Rowan...I'll be able to understand these strange moves that my Pokemon keep exhibiting. When he finally came back to reality, he blinked and both Snorlax and Larry were gone. The crowd was dying down and the last few claps had stopped. Kilik recalled his Pokemon and sighed. "The next time someone pushes me down gets the same thing!" he looked around his person. Luckily, his pants weren't torn and his shirt wasn't ripped or damaged. He looked over at Sasha and the purple haired girl and walked over.

"Hey there Sasha. Who's your bosom buddy?" he winked, looking over at the military girl. He had to admit - he was intimidated but she was cute. Oh no, I'm becoming Mike! he thought. He held out his hand to shake her hand. "My name's Kilik, by the way."

"It was neither, actually. My dad gave it to me yesterday." Oh, something was happening in the battle! Kirsa fell silent for a few moments to watch the proceedings. Finally, she was able to see the battling Pokemon! She didn't really know what either of them were at first - but judging by the older trainer's command, the massive Pokemon was either a Snorlax or that was just the nickname the trainer gave it. The younger trainer's Pokemon took the hit without a flinch and finished the battle. How impressive. As soon as it was over, Kirsa turned her attention back to the pink-haired girl to answer her question. "Oh. I have a Houndour."

Kirsa didn't seem bothered by the victorious trainer coming over to join them; he seemed to know the pink haired girl - Sasha? - so Kirsa simply wrote it off as the two being acquaintances or friends. But the bosom buddy comment...So he had seen that, had he? How humiliating. Rather than let that show, however, she accepted and receiprocated his offered handshake. "I'm Kirsa Markus. I did not see much of your battle, but you seem like a strong trainer."

Ricky's Pidgey paused and stared into the smoke that was now covering the field, trying to spot Kurine's Cyndaquil. "You can't hide your Pokemon that easy," Ricky said, not seeming to be worried at all about the battle, even though his Pokemon's opponent wasn't even visible anymore. "Use Gust again to clear away the smoke!" He commanded his Pokemon, who rose into the air and flapped its wing, soon blowing away most of the dark haze that had been covering the field. Kurine wondered how a kid the same age as her could know so much more about battling.

"Use Ember!" Kurine called to Cyndaquil once she spotted him, and he opened his mouth and let out the familier little stream of fire. The blast hit Pidgey, but not completely, as the Pokemon swooped out of the way as it landed, and the attack only hit it about halfway.

[ oh, you know. i have spidey senses when it comes to someone in a writing rut. ninja ]

"Good to see you too! And Shocker," M.A. echoed, practically emanating sunshine and general feel-good-floaty-things. This was a pleasant surprise, although it should've have really been a surprise at all as she had first heard about the Beach Party when she was with Kasiya and Mitsu that one day so long ago... It must have only been a week or two since she actually even started her journey, but my did it feel so much longer.

She peeked around the blonde girl, inconspicuously eying that brunette hottie behind Kasiya, who had stopped about two feet away and looked like he was getting a nice view of her assets. The guy caught M.A. peeking, blushed hot red. Was he just.. Kasiya...? M.A. withheld a smirk, unsure if her newfound companion would be flattered or flabbergasted. "Uh, wow, who's that cutie?" she said with a slight wink, being the blunt little girlie she was. She admired Kasiya and all the other gorgeous gals on the beach though, feeling a tad envious that they could so confidentally stroll on the beach with just their bikinis. The brunette didn't think she had it in her to show more skin than her floaty white v-neck dress, figuring she'd feel way too self-conscious. It was her first time in a two-piece... ever! And she'd do herself a favor and cover it up.

"A Houndoom?" How was she not surprised. A stern, tactical Pokemon for a rigid little solider. "Neat! You'll have to show me some time." At this time a loud crash directed her attention back to the battle, where Kilik's shiny Rhyhorn type critter had just laid the smack down on that other kid's Snorlax. "Surprise." she said under her breath, waving as he made his way over and gave his greetings.

"Hey Kilik, replied the girl, giving a naughty smile at the suggesting comment. "You know me, always making friends." She flicked a stray hair out from her face and grinned, she was indeed the hippest gal on the block. "Great battle by the way. You sure trounced that guy good. Maybe one day I'll let you battle me." Just to be immature she stuck her tongue out at the end of the sentence. She teased, but after watching him and Mike battle side by side at the Aqua base, she had a feeling that challenging him would leave little to no room for victory.

As the conversation between Kilik and the now-named Kirsa carried on, Sasha had to suppress every urge to squeeze the life out of her new friend. Her formal and blunt introductions are so cute! she squealed internally but kept a relatively normal composure, aside from the occasional fidget or twitch. "My name's Sasha if you didn't catch that." she added somewhat awkwardly, trying to shift the focus back to her.

Train woke up some hours later, feeling much better than before, having been able to finally get some sleep. She checked the time on her PokeNav, and could hardly believe she'd slept so soundly on a train for so long. She stood up and stretched, then woke up Pikachu, picking up the groggy electric type and walking off the train into the Slateport station. The sun was up outside, so Train now knew for sure that the train ride had taken all night.

Train walked out of the station and blinked against the sunlight, still a bit groggy herself. She yawned as she began to walk through the city, looking around until she spotted a shop, deciding she'd need a bathing suit if she was going to be attending the party that was taking place on the beach. After buying one, she changed into it and walked down to the beach, glancing around at all the trainers that were already there. She found a beach chair and umbrella that weren't being used and put her bag on it, deciding that she would use that as her own for now. Train stood by her chair and looked around again, not exactly knowing what to do now, because she didn't have a clue who anyone was.
PostPosted: Mon Oct 27, 2008 6:35 pm

"Well I was thinking about going to the party with you but now I'm not so sure," Sheena said, shrugging. "I've been thinking about just going off on my own to continue my training." She eyed Keegan carefully as he toyed with a silver chain he'd wrapped around his wrist. Sheena wasn't sure but she thought she'd seen it somewhere before. "Besides, if I'm ever gonna catch up to you I'd better start collecting some of those gym badges you keep bragging about."

"I do not brag about my badges," Keegan returned, but he soon realized that Sheena hadn't been serious about it. "You know you could come if you wanted to. There'll be a ton of people there and stuff. Y'know, might be fun. And stuff." It took a full minute for Keegan to realize that he didn't want Sheena to leave just yet, nore did he want to make the return trip to Slateport alone. But he could tell by the look in her eyes that she'd already made up her mind. They finished their breakfast in silence, and after Keegan paid the tab they headed outside. "So where are you going to go?" he asked, sticking his hands in his pockets.

Sheena shrugged. "I don't know. Maybe Rustboro? Maybe explore Johto instead..." She sighed and smiled. "It doesn't matter, just as long as my Pokemon are with me." She scuffed the dirt with her shoe and smiled up at Keegan again. "I guess I'm gonna get going then." She seemed to hesitate a moment or two but then she walked up to Keegan and hugged him. "Take care of yourself," she said quietly, before turning and walking away.

Even when she was saying goodbye it still felt awkward to hug Sheena, and even as she walked away Keegan felt that today hadn't went the way she wanted it to. Whatever, he thought, scoffing and looking around. He needed to head to Slateport and he wasn't about to stand there and dwell on Sheena's problems. He set up his bike and hopped on before he headed south for cycling road.

"Strong trainer?" he repeated. He brushed his shoulder a little and looked over at his Elekid, who was staring at Sasha. That was the girly that he and that guy with the stupid Magby rescued! He waved at her. "Not to brag, but I guess I'm pretty strong." He glanced over at Sasha when she made her comment.

"One day?" he laughed, "Why don't we battle today? Just let Lairon rest up a little bit and I'll be ready to go." He gave her a thumbs up. The chance to battle another trainer that he deemed at his level would be a treat. "So how about it?"

Elekid, on the other hand, was not going to ignore this Kirsa. She looked nice. The plug hopped down from Kilik's shoulder and lifted an arm to bat at one of her bulging pockets. "Ele!" he laughed. He wasn't scared of her at all. Kilik whistled sharply. "Stop that," he said, looking down at his Pokemon, "You can't just play with peoples' pants. Sorry about that Kirsa, he's...still a baby at heart, I suppose."

“Okay now go and use your scratch attack,” Riza said, folding her arms and taking a step back. Sneasel flashed a toothy grin at the crab and dashed forward, keeping both sets of claws low to the ground. Riza couldn’t help but be impressed by her Pokemon’s agility. The krabby swung its left pincer at the oncoming Sneasel but she deftly hopped over it, arching her body around and swiping at the back of the crab’s head. It let out a cry and tried again to swipe at the Sneasel, but she had already danced out of reach.

“Not too shabby,” said Thomas, watching as his krabby flailed around helplessly. “Give it another bubble,” he said, after realizing that any melee combat moves would probably be too slow to strike the speedy Sneasel. The water Pokemon opened up its mouth and spat out another spray of bubbles at Sneasel.

Riza didn’t really know how she could get Sneasel to block the bubbles, but she had to do something. “Try to scratch at the bubbles!” she called out. Maybe if she could get Sneasel to burst them herself then they wouldn’t cause her too much harm. Sneasel, on the other hand, had a better idea and reared her left arm back, her clenched fist becoming covered in a frosty, glowing light. She swung at the oncoming bubbles, but didn’t try to hit them and instead caused most of them to freeze solid as they neared the cold aura given off by her fist. Then, with her other hand she lashed out at the frozen bubbles and smashed them as though they were baubles used to decorate a Christmas tree. The effect was gorgeous - sparkling flecks of ice floating down over Sneasel and making her look quite radiant even in the middle of battle. ‘Wow,’ thought Riza. ‘That looked like something a coordinator’s Pokemon would do!’ Her heart swelled with pride for her Pokemon, as even being a rookie trainer she could see Sneasel’s potential.

Kirsa nodded toward Sasha; she had indeed picked up on the girl's name. "It's nice to meet you both." Judging by their light hearted conversation, they were indeed friends. Not wanting to be rude, the cadet-in-training remained silent, quite content to peer at the Pokemon on Kilik's shoulder. She had never seen one of those, either. It looked a little like a plug, and had a sort of endearing quality about it that made it cute. It was a little surprising when it hopped down from Kilik's shoulder and proceeded to bat at the pouch that contained Hans. Quite a fearless little thing, wasn't he? Kirsa shook her head a bit. "There's no need to apologize. He has not done anything wrong."

Did the plug Pokemon know that her own Pokemon was in there? He was probably just curious. She saw no harm in it. Crouching down Kirsa offered a small smile to the friendly Elekid. "Hello there. Do you want to meet my Pokemon?"

The training battle would be cut short though, as Thomas was called back to duty and had to leave. Riza waved goodbye as he put the krabby back in its ball and went off to do whatever it was he had to do.

Feeling quite elated after Sneasel’s display she went back to sitting and waiting, with an equally proud Sneasel sitting next to her. “You were really great back there,” Riza said, reaching out to give Sneasel a bit of a pat. “That thing with the bubbles… that was so awesome! How did you do that?” Sneasel smirked and looked around before she spotted a life preserver resting on the railing in front of them. Signalling for Riza to watch she dashed at it, her fist glowing with energy as it had before. Then, with a swift strike she punched the life preserver as hard as she could, causing a thick layer of ice to spread over it and some of the metal bars behind it.

“Impressive,” Riza said, nodding. “But what was that?” Sneasel just shrugged, it wasn’t like she knew the name of her own attacks. However, Riza decided that it would be best to move away from the damage she’d just caused and together she and Sneasel changed to the starboard side to await the rest of the trip. It wouldn’t be much longer before land started to creep into the horizon and even as the ship closed in on Slateport Riza found herself feeling overly warm and anxious. She headed to the bathroom and changed into her bathing suit but opted to leave her skirt on until she go t to the beach. After that Riza positioned herself so that she would be one of, if not the first to get off the ship once it docked.

And that’s just how it worked out. As Riza and Sneasel stepped off of the ship the scenery of Slateport city unfolded all around her. It wasn’t very hard to discern where the beach was, and after having sailed on the water for the past how long she was itching for a good swim. “Well, let’s get going!” she laughed before running in the direction of the beach, but stopped as Sneasel did something very unexpected. Unexpected, but welcome. The dark and ice-type Pokemon jumped up onto her back, deciding to hitch a ride instead of walking. Grinning broadly at this, Riza continued forward. ‘Maybe we can give this making friends thing a try….’

Keegan figured that it was because mostly everyone was already at Slateport, but cycling road seemed to be very empty. The redhead was happy about that though, as that meant less people to get in his way. He also felt a little awkward, now that he wasn't wearing his usual heavy attired in exchange for much lighter clothing. He very rarely wore anything other than long pants and here he was in cutoff jean shorts. He steered his bike around a large crack in the pavement, the bike's tires easily navigating over the bumps and imperfections in the path. Keegan felt the lightning shaped pendant bounce against his chest as he rode and he glanced down at it now and then to make sure it was still there.

This is so much easier than walking, he thought as he quickly closed the distance to Slateport City, reaching the end of cycling road in record time and now heading for the city gates. When he arrived it seemed like much more than just the beach party was going on, and he felt his heart sink a little as a single glance around put several thousand people in his sights all at once. How on earth was he ever going to find probably the only person on earth who could have convinced him to come to this stupid party in the first place, and amid all of this madness? At one point he stopped and tried to call her PokeNav, but when he didn't get an answer he assumed she didn't have the device on her. "Figures," he growled, heading for the Pokemon Center. By some grace of perhaps divine intervention there was a free locker in boys' change rooms and Keegan unloaded the majority of his things in there. After some debating he yanked off his shirt and stuffed it in there as well, knowing he'd probably just end up losing it anyway. Then, to help fight the inevitable sunburn he'd get anyway, he slathered himself in sunscreen.

The only things he kept with him were his watch and his Pokeballs, for obvious reasons, and once he felt ready he headed outside. "I guess I'd better go out and try go find her," he mumbled, really not looking forward to pushing his way through all the strangers. However, he quickly rethought his outlook on the strangers thing when a group of giggling teenage girls, all scantily clad in colourful bikinis walked by. "Okay, this is far less worse than I imagined," he murmured, not minding the view at all as he made his way towards the beach.
