Nagi was the kido specialist amongst all the teachers, of course he'd have a couple of books on reiatsu. He was the expert on it afterall but whether or not he wanted to give access to his students was all up to him. He began to think quickly, his expression not changing as he looked up from his manga. "Her reiatsu levels spike for some reason when she is in combat, her reiatsu and pressure is alot different than ordinary people that's for sure. Giving her the knowledge may lead both to destruction or the control of those powers. If she can control those powers at ease, she can become one hell of a shinigami. This would lead to the restoration of the peaceful Soul Soul. Then old man Yamamoto may actually give me time to read my books."
Nagi stared at Hikari for another few seconds before he turned back and continued to read his manga. "Of course, I know a few titles on reiatsu, why would you need them?" he acted as he continued to read the words on the page. His eyes zooming quickly from right to left and slowly moving down. Nagi still didn't know if he should give the titles to Hikari. Sure, they would help her control that weird reiatsu of hers but it would also give her an advantage over the other students, which would be unfair. The old saying knowledge is power was very true when it came to the world of the Shinigami. If Hikari was to learn of these titles and be able to access them she would no doubt be able to grow in power because of her weird reiatsu but if Nagi did give them to her, he would have to let everyone have access to these precious books unless of course, he let her use them in secret. "Decisions..decisions.."

Hikari looks at Nagi, a bit dumbfounded. Isn't it obvious why she'd want books on reiatsu? She knows some shinigami can sense reiatsu, some better than others. She decides, however, to fall back and think about that for a second. She squints her eyes. "Maybe he's probing me?" "Think, child. Why do you want to train your reiatsu?" "To get stronger of course, Luna-chan." "Yes. The question is, 'Why?'." To this, Hikari makes a small murmur. She doesn't say anything. Then she looks at Nagi with the most serious face any could imagine her mustering. "Well. My reiatsu acts weird. If I'm gonna protect my friends and allies and kill hollow, I'll need to get a lot more powerful." She pauses for a moment. She touches one of the spines along the grip of her zanpakutou. "I've lost twice already. Kehi-san and Sukonku-baka were both a lot stronger than me, but my reiatsu is always surprising people. I was thinking there was a secret there for me, Bu-tsu-kun."

Nagi stared back at Hikari, he couldn't give in or else it would be unfair. But such a personality was hard to find in Shinigami nowadays. He began to think and then he got up. "I am sorry Hikari-chan, I can't give you a book because it would be unfair to the other students.. but you can have an apple," Nagi smiled as he reached for the plate of fruit and took an apple. As he was about to bring it over and place it infront of Hikari's face, he knocked over one of the books that he had stacked next to the chair. "Reiatsu 101" it was titled. "Whoops," Nagi smiled as he placed the apple on the book and lay back onto the chair. "Enjoy your reading Hikari-chan," he gave a smirk as he continued to read his manga.
"I wonder if what I did was the right thing? Old man Yamamoto would most likely wring my neck if he saw me giving these books to students to read. Although they might not understand the terms... But Hikari seems smart enough."

Absentmindedly, Hikari picks up the apple and the book. She has a disappointed look on her face to be told Nagi has the books and knowledge and was denying them. She sighs, knowing she has to get back to training. It'll be boring if she doesn't. She walks back to where she was, which is near enough Nagi that he could easily keep an eye on her if he wanted. When she gets there, she sits down with her legs crossed and zanpakutou laying across her lap. She also has the book and apple there. When she picks up the apple, she stares at the book for a moment.
"Huh? When did I pick this up?" She hears laughter, and she can tell it's coming from within. "You're kidding, right? Ha! That Nagi went and gave you this book, though a bit of deception and subtitle to be sure, but he still gave it to you Little Princess." It's that weird voice again. The one that sounds like hers but not hers. As she's about to reply... "Child. I think Nagi wanted you to have that, without arising too much suspicion. Go on. Read it." Hikari nods as she opens the book and begins reading. The first thing she takes note of is the 'Table of Contents' as she's skimming the first few pages. She takes special note of the basics of kidou, including a few basic spells of hadou and bakudou. She smiles as she thinks about how useful all this could be.
Keeping in mind what she's learned about her reiatsu through sheer experimentation, she turns to the first chapter...

With the rather mean voice silenced for the time being, Hikari begins reading about the basics of reiatsu. She finds the information fascinating and hard to put down. She's very smart, and she easily realizes a lot of things she didn't know before just in the first few pages. She comes to realize/know that the pattern she experienced with her reiatsu pressure is her individual pulse and that all beings have their own pulse. She can easily enough figure out that she has a very strong/intense reiatsu, at least for her experience, just from the descriptions in these pages. As Hikari delves into the words contained in each sentence and in each paragraph, she becomes more and more fascinated in what's to come in this book.

As much as the book goes on about what reiatsu is, the explanations don't seem to bore or tire Hikari. Her mind is like a sponge, and each tidbit she learns helps her maximize her use of her reiatsu. She learns why it's important to realize the difference in pressure and pulse from person to person. She's a little bit disappointed because the explanations seem to deeply involve a good sense of reiatsu. This is one thing she's noticed she's rather deficient at. It's quite possibly a very good reason she's losing, too. With a nod of her head, she turns to the next chapter.
She finds the next chapter chalk full of useful information. She can't use some of it now, but she absorbs it all for future reference. If she can ever master sensing reiatsu, this chapter would certainly come in useful. As it stands, she has a lot more control than ability to sense/detect. She finds herself going over each bit of information little by little, very careful to learn about the general 'feel' of the reiatsu pressure between, at least, shinigami and hollow. Though she's felt both before at the same time before, she's not sure she'll remember the 'feel' of a hollow's reiatsu if suddenly thrust into a battle situation. If she knows a book description, she can add on her own later. She tags and notes everything in her head so she can easily reference it all.

When she gets to the chapter on reiatsu control, she slows down a bit to make sure she understands it and has a chance to implement it. The previous chapters included an introduction and information on sensing reiatsu that she couldn't put into practice. It's this part where it's all about. She smiles as she starts going over the information. What's interesting is an explanation of what some kids develop in the Rukongai before being discovered as potential shinigami. It's an exercise involving creating a spherical mass out of one's own reiatsu. She decides to quickly skim the rest of the examples of early reiatsu training only to find out what she did isn't in there at all. Her concentrating, spinning, and pattern discovering are either more advanced than this book handles or completely original.
Hikari has to smile at that thought, but she quickly pushes it away. Any exercise is better than nothing. Setting the book down so she could read it and practice what's on the pages, she stretches her right arm out and begins concerting what reiatsu she can to swirl around that open palm. She immediately scrunches her face in pain. This exercise is very different. What she was doing was throwing her massive reiatsu around in a large dust cloud. At the same time as it was more efficient for finding her reiatsu pulse, this new technique seems better at concentrating as much reiatsu as possible into a single point. If she can master this, she knows she can move on to the kidou listed in later chapters of this book. She presses on...

As she focuses her reiatsu to her open, right palm, she begins to wonder how hard this would be if she had any less. She's already discovered she's got a lot of reiatsu when compared to those around the same 'level' as her. She watches as her reiatsu begins to affect the atmosphere around her palm. At first, it's completely chaotic with much of it falling below her hand all together. She keeps readjusting her aim, getting it higher and higher. She does notice one thing. As she concerts her reiatsu in this one spot, there is little to no roar in her ears. She doesn't let her concentration slip, just mentally notes that.

When she gets the bulk of her reiatsu to concert above her open palm, she has something to celebrate. She just doesn't stop there, though. She wants to go much further. She begins condensing and condensing the wildly swirling pulse, so she can make a spherical mass. She begins seeing the first signs of it as a small point suddenly illuminates itself inside the obvious center. As it lights again and again, she notices it is illuminating itself in time with her pulse. Taking that as a cue, she begins concentrating on her reiatsu and pulse. The illumination grows, become steady, and quickly becomes a spherical mass centered over her open palm
She smiles and almost says something before she notes her concentration lapsing almost causes the sphere to implode. Instead, Hikari keeps her attention and concentration on the mass. She wants to take her abilities to the limit and see how far she can carry. She does notice something very important. Once the spherical mass was created, it became a whole lot easier to keep concentration on it.

Hikari takes note of a few more things as she watches her mass of reiatsu in that sphere shape. It's much easier to maintain than it is to create. The roar is absent with the sphere and minimal while creating it. It would be a lot harder to find one's reiatsu pulse using this technique alone. With a careful breath, she releases the sphere and takes the reiatsu back into her body. She looks back to the book and begins reading again. She wants to find out if there's anything about how to find out what one's reiatsu pulse is. There are plenty of training techniques, but it doesn't seem like any of them cover what she's discovered. With a dissatisfied sigh, she continues reading the chapter.
When she's done, she discovers there's nothing much about reiatsu control she doesn't already know. There's a small discussion on how to hide by minimizing, masking, or even eliminating one's reiatsu pressure. That's something she's not too concerned about right now. It's information for later. As she flips the page to find what the next chapter deals with, she decides to continue training for control. With a meditative breath, she starts to concentrate once more. She opens her palm and begins to concert her reiatsu above the center.

Having already experienced this, Hikari's getting the idea of what to do. She quickly recollects the pattern she's learned for her reiatsu pulse and begins using that to hasten the creation of the sphere. Immediately she notices a difference. For one, she's able to create the sphere that much quicker. This exercise must be hard for anybody with low reiatsu pressure or no understanding of their own pulse. She also notices she's using a whole lot less reiatsu to create and maintain the sphere this time. For her, this seems like a monumental achievement. All this practice, and maybe even constantly using then refueling then using et cetera, must be paying off.
This time, she wants to watch the sphere more closely. She observes everything about it. It's got a decent size to it. From what she read, this could mean that (a) she has large reiatsu or (b) she has very little control. For where she's at (a beginner), what she's seeing is rather satisfying. She recognizes that she's not got the experience to say she's great, or even really good. She also notices the color. It doesn't quite match how the book described it. She attributes that to just her unique self. She has no idea the chaotic swirl, and even sinister appearance of thin lines of red, mean anything.

Having created the reiatsu mass sphere twice already, Hikari decides to break it down and try creating it as many times as possible before getting tired. Once she's reabsorbed it into her body, she immediately sets to creating anther one. She repeats this process of absorption and creation several times over. Each time she creates a sphere, she feels more and more tired. She can tell by how tired and hungry she is just how many more times she should be able to create this spherical mass. She even counts them. Including the trial and error of the first two, she was able to make eight. She figures that if she were to make them all the correct way, which she estimates to be the way she made the sixth through eighth ones, she should be able to make twelve to fourteen of these.

Taking a chomp out of the apple Nagi gave her earlier, she decides to read some while recovering her reiatsu. She skims through the control chapter again. She wants to make sure she understands everything she can. That's the point of this training. She figures she'll spend the rest of her training on whatever kidou's in this book. She's not sure what she can use, but she's sure it'll come in handy in the near future. Whatever she does, she knows she needs to have an understanding of everything she's just read. She understands what a reiatsu pulse is and why it's important to identify that as well as reiatsu pressure. She's also coming to understand the difference between shinigami and hollow when sensing them. There's still the question of how well she can even sense... With a sigh, she begins skimming earlier chapters to make sure everything is fully understood.

"Kill.." "no.." "set me loose....say my name" "jus...leave me alone...."
A figure sat at the very bottom of the stairs of the hill known most commonly as 'Execution Hill' At first glance it seemed as though a boy had lost his way and then found himself where he was know but, upon a closer inspection of his garb, it was evident that he was an Academy student. He hadn't been seen around before but it looked as though he had been around for years concerning the condition of his outfit, raggedy and roughed up looking it actually gave off a tough impression rather than that of a low-class soul. With a huiff through the nose and a small roll of the neck, the boy was on his feet, staring at the ground as though he had recently been in trouble even though he had been in nothing of the sort. He would pick up a black marble shaft that turned out to be his zanpaktou, it bore no hilt but rather just four sections of chain connecting the black marble handle to its black marble sheath....strange that it should be so as it gave off the feeling as though it weren't to be unsheathed. "....I can hear them already...sparring and going at each other in hopes of gaining strength.....hope I'm good enough......" with a small shake of his head the boy diverted his gaze from the ground to the top of the hill and the steps he needed to climb to get there.
With yet another discouraging huff from his nose, he was off at his own dreary pace up the stairs, carrying his zanpaktou by hand rather than wearing it how most did. "Who was it I need to speak to?....na....naaa....nagi?...yeah....thats it...." "....destroy any opponent you come across....." "I said go AWAY!" The boy clutched his head near the 'X' shaped scar between his eyes made its home and gritted his teeth as he continued up the long staircase with the whisper he kept hearing dogging his every thought with suggestions of harming others.

Eventually getting to where he needed to be, save a few stops when the wind picked up to admire it and the view when he drove higher he found himself coming up behind Nagi-sensei. He would pause for a moment and then place his free hand on a nearby tree, the walk hadn't seemed to take anything out of him as his breathing was slow and constant, not hurried and stressed. "....s'cuse me...sir? Are you the one called Nagi?" He spoke of mildly with a reclusive tinge to his voice. He gave the barbed wire scar around his neck a small rub with his hand. The boy's uniform gave it away that he was the type to where bandages for whatever reason, through his black bandages around his torso and shoulder were seeable through bladed cuts in his outfit and the fact that the collar hun a little to the side which often gave the impression that he was a relaxed person. He merely stood there awaiting a response.
