Practically tearing off his socks and jacket, Alexei dumped his gunblades in their holsters on top of them and whipped off his shirt, mostly for show, as they neared the water, stopping to roll up his pant legs.
He slowed his pace as he caught up to Adara, and grinned right back at her as he came near. His chest told the story of the difficult life he led back home, showing a set of parallel scars from monster claws, and finely toned from hard work. Another scar, however, stood out as unusual - a small sunburst pattern on his right shoulder.

She didn't stop walking backwards entirely once she reached the cold surf of the ocean washing against her bare feet, just slowed her pace down. By the time he reached her, Adara would be standing to her ankles in the water.
It wasn't the first time she had seen him without a shirt on, but it didn't make it any less impressive. While he may not have been bulging with muscles (which she didn't find attractive anyway), Alexei was toned and lean, which was way sexier. Though, she did always wonder what the scar on his shoulder was from, but was always too shy to ask about it. It almost looked like a scar from a bullet wound, but it was almost too cleanly shaped to be such.
She bit her lip playfully and looked over her glasses at him, continuing deeper into the water, "You know, you're pretty s--"
The disadvantage to walking backwards is that you can't always see what's coming up. Hence, while trying to say something witty and flirty, Adara ended slipping on an embedded rock and going over backwards into the water. She came back up a second later, laughing and she whipped her hair back which sprayed water everywhere. Thankfully her glasses had stayed on.

Alexei shielded his face with his forearm as Adara's hair showered water in his direction. He waded towards her and helped her up, pulling her to her feet at arm's length.
"This was smooth of you, Милая моя," he said, laughing as he steadied her.
"I am pretty what?"

"Mi... la... " Adara tried to repeat what he'd called her in Crescent, trying to figure what he had called her, but she couldn't remember what the words meant. So instead she plastered the grin back on her face and she gave him a dismissive wave of her hand, which spattered tiny water droplets across his chest as he laughed at her, "Psshhhhh, I totally meant to do that, can't you tell?
Being soaked from head to toe, the white tank top was pretty much transparent now, failing to hide the pale blue bikini top she was wearing underneath. She had actually come prepared for swimming, "I can't actually remember now, so let's say that I was going to saaaay thaaat... you're pretty synergetic and then add something lamely witty and flirty on to it and pretend I actually something awesome that made you love me even more."
She stood there, grinning with her green hair flung backwards and dripping water from the ends and from her fingertips and had tiny streams of water winding down her legs. With one index finger, she adjusted her glasses so that they weren't sitting at the end of her nose anymore.

"Me-laya mo-ya. It means my darling," he said, explaining his Crescent expression and sounding it out slowly for her. He had a hard time keeping his eyes on her face with her one-woman wet t-shirt contest going on, but he managed to look her in the eyes, at least when he spoke.
"So, we are meta-flirting now? I see! Well then, let us say, that I am complimenting the way that everything you say makes me love you even more. And that I am making points of your being smart, and strong, and beautiful."
Alexei pulled her closer, placing her hand on his bare shoulder as he wrapped his hand around her waist and winced at the cold water against his bare stomach as he pulled her close.

Thaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat's what it was. She remembered seeing it in a poem once, or hearing him say it before.
Even though they were resorting to describing all the sappy and mushy things that they would be saying, rather than actually saying them, his compliment still made her smile. Adara didn't even mind him checking her out, mostly because she was doing the same to him at the same time, and when he put his arm around her and pulled her close, she took her hand that he had placed on his shoulder and slid it up and around behind his neck. The girl wanted to run her fingers over the sunburst shaped scar on his shoulder, but didn't want to be obvious about it either, so she didn't and instead draped each arm loosely around his neck.
"And maybe I might say that I think you're intelligent and really sexy, especially when you wear your hair in a ponytail, and that I think you're going to be a better SeeD than I am and then I'd probably kiss you," she paused to give him a brief kiss before continuing. "And then mention that you are entirely not wet enough for being in the ocean."

Alexei scoffed and dropped his eyes abashedly at Adara's flattery, but that was interrupted by her kiss. He didn't believe for a second that he could be as good a SeeD as she was, but he was a little biased.
"You're right. Not wet enough. Let's fix this!" he replied, tightening his grip around Adara's waist, picking her up and dropping her down into the water as he came splashing in after her.

"Heynowait! I was already--" her words got lost in the water as she was dropped into the tide that was just now slowly starting to pick up as it came in. When she came up with a gasp, having to flip her hair backwards from her face again, Adara was standing to just above her waist in water.
"Hey! That's not very nice!" she laughed as she wiped the water from her eyes behind her glasses. "I said you weren't wet enough!"
She couldn't see if he'd come back up again right away or if she was talking to herself, as she was too busy trying to get the salt water and her hair out of her eyes.

Alexei popped back up and shook his head out, grabbing his ponytail and squeezing most of the water out of his hair.
"And now I am wet! What's problem?" he said with a laugh, coming up behind her and wrapping his arms around her, nestling his head on her shoulder.
"It would not be as much fun if I did not take you with me."

"You could've warned me first, then maybe I wouldn't end up with salt water in my stomach," Adara smiled teasingly as he put his arms around her. She pressed her lips to his head, despite the ocean water, and grinned. "Come on. we can cuddle any time. Let's go swim now that we're both sufficiently soaked. I heard there's a small bit of land not too far out that we could probably swim to and back before the sun sets."

"Okay. I race you?" he said, dropping his arms and falling backwards into the water. He surfaced and spat out salt water, then began swimming backstroke out to sea.
"Come on!"

So adorable!
She turned just in time to see him drop backwards into the water and resurface to beckon her to join him by getting a headstart. So, with a laugh, Adara dove in and pushed herself through the water just below the surface until she had caught up to him. Rather than coming back up, she waited for the proper moment and grabbed at his ankle to screw up his strokes , but not enough to drown him, just enough to try and pull him back to her level.

Alexei let out a stifled gasp of protest as he was suddenly stopped and dragged under the surface.
He came up, spitting out water and laughing in between gasps of breath.
"Oh! You...!"
He shook his head out and turned to swim after her, now behind.

Adara laughed, having flipped over onto her back to watch his reaction and was pushing herself along with her arms and legs against the gentle current.
"Oh, me what, babe?" she called back to him, still moving herself towards the small sandy patch of island off to her left side.

"You brat!" he answered, swimming quickly to catch up. They were almost at the tiny island, so he powered hard, just enough to keep up, but he was going to let her win.
