Fortunately someone has a time machine and decided to steal all the plums from the future (There's NOOOOOOO way there will be any negative reprocussions after that.... obvious 8-bit theater reference)

Unfortunately the time machine stopped working before the person could go back to the present and died after going mad (in the future the government considered the place too dangerous after caving in a few times and sealed it shut). gonk

Fortunately there was a guy that know how to fix the time machine, and decided to return to the past, and the plums were still on board.

Fortunately due to a translation issue, it wasn't plums that were needed, but pears.

Unfortunately while traveling in the time machine, all their short term memory was lost. Now they have no idea where and when they are and how they got there.

Unfortunately, he changed his mind while they were going in and set them on fire and left them to live the rest of the five minutes left of their life. gonk

Fortunately the fire was magic and was doused off when the dragon die, because his bestial nature made the disease kill him faster than humans.
