Ok, just a bit curious. After seeing what kind of weapons and stuff that they had, they looked a bit more to my liking than I thought they were. Was kinda thinking of getting them as a secondary army instead of Tau, though I still dunno which one to get...

The Eldar have tons of availability to take whatever you want. They have battlesuits of a sort (Wraithlords), all kinds of high powered ranged fire, and they can hold their own in CC, usually succeeding.

That is why I thought I might actually go over to them. Then looking back at the Tau, though, they had some weapons that I was interested in, and they sorta had more usefulness for their basic troops: better armour, better range. Plus you can field more suits than Wraithlords, though Wraithlords do make pretty good sounding weapons platforms, or so I've heard. They can only move 6" though, right?

Right. However, they're actually useful in CC, something that most Tau suits cannot attest to. And if Armor is your worry, you shouldn't be playing either race. Striking Scorpions have a 3+ save and they're generally useful as CC units, especially when supported by Dire Avengers.

Eldar tend to have pretty good armor overall, and much higher standard statlines. Guardians aren't that great, but avoid them. Most Eldar units are good at CC -and- ranged. Fire Dragons, for example; 4+ save, WS4, I5, all armed with meltaguns. Yeah, Tau have some good weapons. The thing you'll have to get used to with Eldar is they can unload a hell of a lot of shooty from moderately close range. It's riskier of being attacked in assault, but the key point is that Eldar can handle assaults in stride.
Take a look at the statline for a Warwalker. I4 and 2 attacks. They're cheap, HELL of a lot of shooty, and can more than hold their own in an assault, even against specialists.

I meant armour saves rather than tanks. And I was thinking of not taking any, or at most very few, basic Guardians anyway, since Dire Avengers seem much better on any scale. I play Dark Angels, so I tend to think that most other races' infantry are somewhat weak without a high armour save. I hate this fact, but I also think it comes from my brother playing Necrons as well. neutral I still need to look over the whole Eldar Codex first, though I have read about the units that interest me the most. The main things that I saw overlooking all the weapons though is that all basic troop weapons are assault, which I liked for well roundedness, where the Tau though have exceptional range and the ability to pin if enemies get too close.

Eldar have enough 3+ saves of their own; jetbikes, Avatar, Scorpions.

Yeah, to me that makes them seem pretty much better over all compared to Tau. I like the way either of them look, I guess I might go with Eldar. Depends on how much I really want Tau when the time comes around though...

If I still play that far into the future. sweatdrop
Ok, so I got to reading the codex and something perked my interest a lot. It says that a 10 Wraithguard Squad lead by a Spiritseer can be taken as a troop choice. So first, what is a Spiritseer, the warlock added to the group? And second, I'm thinking of a dead army now. biggrin biggrin biggrin

375... But I'd definitely be willing to play it. Add an Avatar, 3 squads of Wraithguard and 3 Wraithlords(2 anti infantry, 1 anti tank) and there's 1500 points. Kinda small, but it'll scare people. ...maybe
Edit: Ok, I might be wrong, the list that I downloaded for the Forge has a bunch of wrong points for all the units I want to use...

Trust me, though, Wraithguard are almost never worth the points. They have no invulnerable save, and 3+ is plenty mortal. They're a horrible point sink, and those points could be put to much better use.

Actually I found the right one so I'm ok now.
Yeah, after getting the right points, finally, it's 1500 for: Farseer w/ Mindwar 10 Wraithguard and Warlock as Elite 10 Wraithguard and Spiritseer x2 as Troop 2 Wraithlord(Star Cannon and Shuriken Cannon, Star Cannon and Bright Lance)
I'll be super outnumbered, sure, but that is still quite a few chances to kill some 'crons right out.
I still think it would be kinda intimidating to see an army of lifeless suits walking at you...
