Lin shook her head, "Back to the shop. I want you to apologize to the shop owner for having a fight in public, and then after that I think you and Miyuki should go off and spend some time together."

Really, they did love each other, it was just they were so different. Lin didn't know if that was the age difference or their personalities talking.

"It'll help you two to understand each other," she told him ruffling his hair, "And it'll be good for the both of you."

Andarien didn't respond, but put his hand on Ponydash's flank and stroked it lightly. After a moment, he nodded - though he didn't know what he and Miyuki would do together. They had nothing in common, a fact that became more blatantly obvious every time they went out as a family.

"Yeah, let's go," he muttered, starting back in the direction they'd come from.

Keeping her hand on his shoulder, Lin followed him back to the shop they were last at. At least she though, checking the sky briefly, that it was close to lunch time, so if anything getting something to eat was the best time to send the two off.

At least food was something they more or less had in common.

When they returned to the glassmaker's shop, Earendil was still waiting outside with Miyuki, and by this time River and Jess had also rejoined them.

Earendil looked relieved when he saw Lin and Andarien coming back. They had been gone for quite a while, and he had begun to worry about them.

"Things go all right?" he murmured softly to Lin once he could do so without the others overhearing.

Lin nodded as she ushered Andarien inside the shop so he could give his apologies. She wished she could tell Earendil her sudden plan to have the two spend time together, but she didn't want to be talking about the two in front of the rest of their group.

Inside the shop, Andarien shrugged out from under Lin's touch and approached the shop owner on his own. He made his apology humbly and politely, bowing low to him. The man assured Andarien that it was all right, and Andarien returned to Lin once again.

Bringing Andarien back to the group, Lin rustled around in her bag for some money. She was glad to have some foresight to have gotten some exchange on the metal coins she had brought with her.

So at least she could give the children the proper currency.

"Okay you two,"
Lin finally murmured, "For the purpose of you two spending time together..."

And she added mentally, figuring out their miscommunication.

"I'm going to send you two off to wander the town and get yourselves lunch. Look at what you want, and as a bit of advice, I recommend you two talk." she handed them some coins.

Andarien looked at the coins in his hand and tucked them into one of his pockets, making sure to fasten the button on it so that the coins wouldn't get lost.

Then he looked up at Miyuki. He didn't know what to say, so he just shrugged. "Kay."

Miyuki was surprised by this but took the coins anyways and nodded to her mother.

"Uhm... alright,"
she wasn't sure what to make of this.

Where they supposed to go off now? It seemed so sudden.

Andarien put his hands in his pants pockets and looked up at Miyuki.

"Which way?" he asked her. He was well aware that she knew as little of the town as he did, but since neither of them knew their way around they might as well just pick a direction and wander.

"Huh...." Miyuki sniffed the air for a moment.

Since their mother had said lunch, she supposed the direction that had the most food stalls would be ideal.

"That direction has a lot of good smells, so how about there?" she asked in turn.

Andarien shrugged. "Okay."

He followed after her quietly. He didn't mean to be rude, but he didn't want to say something else that would start another argument, either.

Up the street were a few food stalls, though it was mostly market-type foodstuffs. Further up was a small restaurant, which boasted freshly cooked meals for travelers and visitors.

It was kind of awkward for them to be walking together in silence. Miyuki kept her eye out for any snack or eating food stalls, but there were very few, which was a bit disappointing.

"Do you want to try the restaurant?"
she asked him.

Andarien nodded. He felt chilled, and he was ready to get out of the cold again. He stepped forward quickly to get the door for Miyuki and held it open so that she could go through first.

From inside the shop the aroma of freshly baked loaves wafted out, along with the scents of various herbs and spices. It was a comfy little place, with a warm fire in the fireplace along one wall and decorations all along the intricately carved mantle. Half a dozen tables with places for four were neatly set with blue tablecloths and each one had a small glass vase in the middle with a single white flower in it.

Miyuki looked around, in all honesty, besides an inn, this was the first restaurant she had been to that wasn't Gaian. So she wasn't sure if they were supposed to help themselves to a table or not.

It was really nice though and she knew that Andarien would love the fresh baked bread. She wondered what else they had because she could smell the spices and she had always preferred her meals to have a bit more spice to them.
