Skuld HJG Songbird replied into her comm, "Yes, I'm at Xavier's. everything above ground is gone but there are underground levels that are still viable. I'll see you, when you get here."Penance was relieved to hear such a close location it would only take him ten minutes to get down there if her hurrys or runs. I'll be there soon over and out.

xxsoullessANGELUSxx (oop! I almost forgot-I'm being fairly general with dialogue, since I'm covering for one of the sisters)
Meanwhile, two young girls peeked curiously and hungrily around the kitchen. They had been directed there a while ago, and had already gathered plenty of food to set up and cook. They discussed with each other (in speed talk) how exciting it was to find so many heroes after long months of waiting, how upsetting it was to find out most people didn't even know who they were, what they were going to eat, what food would be prepared the fastest compared to what food would taste better, if there was dog and/or cat food anywhere to be found or if they'd have to improvise once again with their two animals...... the list went on as they figured out what to make, and how much more food to make for people around the Institute who were obviously hard at work.
(...productive little speedsters. rolleyes ) Nightshade stode into the kitchen after dealing with the pair of assassins to make sure they were both disarmed. Des was looking forward to some chill that he had made earlier.... Only to find the pot empty. As the veteran vigilante glanced over toward the speedster girls, Des simply asked, "Are either of you two girls' last name happen to be 'Allen'?"

Both of the girls were within earshot, and the older repsonded.
"--Yes- we're sisters--- you know our uncle? Do you know where he is?"
And were secret identities not sacred anymore? The younger speedster, Victoria, continued preparing food for more than the two would eat. The elder, Jaquelyn, blinked up at Nightshade and looked at the empty pot. Suddenly a sweeping look of embarrasment took over her face.
"O-oh, sorry. We needed.. fuel. We're making more though!"
Her second sentence was rushed as she joined her sister.
"When was the last time anyone around here ate?"

 Nightshade took off his black fedora and gasmask reveiling his dark dued face, and the black doctor sat down chuckling, "I think the others eat about forty minutes ago. I know how Barry got after his runs, and if he was around -- he'd eat my subs. I wish I had seen your uncle since this world merge mess; he's a good man. And yes, I've worked a couple of capers with your uncle back in Central City."

The youngest was concentrating mostly on the food- and the eldest gave him a mixed expression. She liked the small bit of experience, thought it was funny- but at the same time this man hadn't seen Uncle Barry either...
"Well, if you're hungry, we're making more than enough."
She smiled at him. She'd never seen him before, but he was really nice.
"We've been hiding out in Keystone and Central, waiting for family to get back, but..."
She stopped and dropped her gaze down to the preparing food. Her little golden retriever pup went up and sniffed at Nightshade's lower pant leg.

Des bent over to pet the puppy, "More food is definately a good idea. We do have a full house that needs feeding. Oh, while I'm thinking about it, there are two prisoners in the cells. Leave them alone. They are hardened assassins, and are scary tough. Several Titans are dead because of them, and they are very well trained normals."

This time both girls stopped what they were doing and looked at Nightshade in horror.
"Dead?"
The pup licked at his hand as it neared her.

Des slowly nodded while scritching the puppy's ear, "Yes, I can tell you're scared, and you should be. I'm expecting the ones controling these guys to be utterly ruthless. So, if you have to fight these I.O. guys that sent the Stonewall assassins... You don't play around with them, understand?"

The elder averted her eyes back to the food and nodded, at the same time as her sister nodded.
"...When did 'I.O.' surface?"
Victoria kept a gaze towards Nightshade. Her expression had changed from shock and worry to serious determination. By the time the family had disappeared, Jaquelyn had gotten to a point in speed-training where she could run the streets without a skid. Victoria however was still working hard on stopping and turning, even on rougher surfaces, so she was not expecting to find herself in the middle of missions anytime soon... but if a couple of these assassins were already held here, it was reasonable for the two to know who and what they and their friends were dealing with.

Des was being frank with the two young speedsters, "You two remind me a bit of Barry. Good to see. I.O. recently surfaced, but I believe they've been skulking in the shadows for years. If our data is accurate, I.O. was formed back in the sixties as part of the CIA. And they have gone far afield, forming their own shadow government. I'll bring up the computer files for you two to look at. There's a lot of information there, and ... I know it won't take you long to look it over. Fair warning... it's ugly. Experimentation on soldiers, like a super soldier program run by the Nazis."

The girls exchanged a glance. These guys were around for a long time. Plenty of time for them to set up to do whatever they wanted, if they were beyond law. By the sounds of it, they kinda were. There was certainly no mention in the newspapers (Central Times and Keystone Times) about them, and it wouldn't make sense if there was. "Shadow".
"Thank you, Mr.... um..."
Jaquelyn blinked. She looking back at Nightshade, quickly realizing they hadn't introduced themselves yet.

"Oh, I'm sorry" Des held out his hand, "I'm Nightshade, and among Barry's family -- Dr. Des Powell. I was the head of Central City Hospital a number of years ago when I had retired from active adventuring... Since... coming back... I ended up with new abilities... Came to this place for help.

"Flashgirl and Impulse....Jaquelyn and Victoria. This place for help? Like, learning to use abilities?"

Des shook Flashgirl's hand and answered, "Yes, the X-Men have a training facility they call the 'Danger Room'. It can simulate safely different conditions and scenarios to test and train mutant abilities. I put myself through quite a few programs to get control of my powers. I can certainly help you in getting you trained to properly control your speed powers."

Now both of the girls had their combined full attention on him with brighter expressions.
"That, would be--"
Big smiles crossed their faces as they looked between eachother again. It sounded like heaven, especially since for the most part, the two had been cooped up in their family house and Wally's apartment- it was risky at best to go outside for long periods of time for anything of the likes of training.
"That sounds amazing."
She pulled out her dad's stopwatch from the coat she was wearing and looked it over- not just taking in the time, but making sure it was clicking right, and timing correctly. She tucked it away.
"Half passed ten. Food's almost ready, too."
