Thinking about it, would anyone be up to maybe tinkering with making a video game as a sort of side project? I know a lot of us are interested in video games in one way or another, and a lot of us are pretty talented. Maybe we could make something work...?
I'm not too experienced in the area or anything, but it's been something I've been wanting to do for awhile now.
Haha, that would be fun.
You ever used RPGMaker 2000?
I used to play with that ALLLL the time in high school...
I'd make my own character sprites and compose my own music. [Go figure.]
You have a lot of freedom, and it's not that difficult to use, either.
I have used it before, but it wasn't as intuitive as I would've liked.
But yeah, I was thinking that if people were up to it we could make something basic and fun depending on what ideas anyone had. I mean, I have a blast making sprites, a lot of people here can draw really damned well, I'm sure we have more than a few good writers, and I thought of you when I thought about music and maybe SFX. Hell, if we wanted we could even do some voice acting.
And there are a lot of ideas. Cave Story is a really awesome game, even though the graphics and all that are pretty basic. So I think adventure games would be fun.
RPGs and Visual Novels give a lot of leeway to the story and characters, and could give people a lot of freedom with art if they wanted. I'm fond of old point and click adventures, and Phoenix Wright was great.
A shump might be fun if we made a stupid side story to go with it. As long as it wasn't another "All Your Base" thing.
An original FPS could probably be modded from another game.
I had just been sort of thinking about how much fun I had with old games and that it might be fun to try to make something. I don't know much about coding, though I want to learn.
And Sor, why not download RPG Maker? Your computer should be able to handle that at least.
