Today was awesome! I went to one of the used bookshops downtown and bought Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel in hardcover, Breaking the Spell: Radical Theories of Fairy & Folk Tales in hardcover, Hamlet's Mill in paperback, and Rousseau's The Social Contract in paperback, and I only spent thirty dollars! whee The awesome rapidly diminished when I had to flea-treat my cats and fasten flea collars on them. Duke's mellow enough that he mostly just squirmed and made me feel bad then went off to sulk, but Tiger was not afraid to show his disapproval with violence. I have new scratches. sad

Calixti Today was awesome! I went to one of the used bookshops downtown and bought Jonathan Strange & Mr. Norrel in hardcover I got a pristine copy at a thrift store for less than 2 bucks, tucked in amongst the homeless Dr. Phil books. Its in my "must read soon, somehow" pile.

Gah!
Completed my second part of schooling, now just have the final bits, about 2 or 3 weeks, and I will finally be rated!
I still have to wait on orders, which probably won't have me leaving anyway till after October (another Halloween in Great Lakes? Well, at least it's out of boot camp). And then, I'll get to get out of here and after that...
The REAL Navy!!!
And Bristol's Ren Fest is upon us and I haven't gone yet. Must remedy that.
I've missed so many of you! It's rather hard to find much to do here to connect spiritually, what with the restrictions that not only does the base have, but my barracks as well, sad
Have distinctly more reliable internet now (hooyah aircards), so hopefully will be able to keep in better touch (as she says it for the 3rd time, sweatdrop )

saint dreya And Bristol's Ren Fest is upon us and I haven't gone yet. Must remedy that. Sigh, another year too poor to go. My brother and friends all went last weekend. Although, I can't beat the year of the rockstar tour with Romuel, who was a cast member.

Shearaha Never mind. Just found out I've been hoaxed, by someone who doesn't hoax as a rule. Was it the one about Mars being closer than it's ever been before? 'Cause that one goes around every year. I think it actually happened back in 2006.

I'm still iffy on the "Toronto Pagan Pride Day" that's occurring in a week and a half. I can feel the fluffy.

Wrath of Ezekiel Anyone would like to re-cap their Summerstar experience with the rest of us who can't make it to an event like that? I'm still iffy on the "Toronto Pagan Pride Day" that's occurring in a week and a half. I can feel the fluffy. If you like camping, it's awesome. It's more camping than pagany stuff. The people are polite. It's probably 85% Wiccans or (fluffy) neopagans, and then there are a few Asatru that were pretty cool. You go more for the people you'll be with than to "learn stuff." There are a few little workshops here and there. It definitely wasn't anything like Pantheacon where it was workshop after workshop. There were only a couple of vendors but I found some really good stuff, actually. I had an amazing time because I hung out with Gho and Tea. I'm not that big of a fan of camping, though. lol I was mosquito bitten like crazy and I'm allergic to mosquito bites. So, yeah, camping = no. The camping part was not like you're in a wilderness or anything, a lot of the campers were right next to each other. If you like to sleep early don't sleep near the drummers. They drum 'til 1AM every night. =_= The surroundings were really beautiful and green.
