Oo Dorkalicious oO Cluey-kun Have I told you this before biggrin people in a comatose state in the ER...you give 4 things IV thiamine, dextrose, naloxone, flumenazil Thiamine (cause if they overdose on alcohol, they're probably deficient in this. It can cause neurological problems due to depletion of ATP , the main energy source of our body) Dextrose (they could be hypoglycemic, which resulted in brain shutting down) Naloxone (they could've overdosed on opiates, this reverses opiate intoxication - opiate including morphine, heroin, methadone, etc) Flumenazil (they could've overdosed on benzodiazepines...benzo's commonly used these days to reduce anxiety, but people have a tendency to take too much in attempts to kill themselves) I think I only understood about half of that... But I keep rereading it so I think I'm starting to get it more... And no you haven't told me before but thank you for telling me this, can I quote you anonamously in my school report? I think I spelt it wrong... x.x'' Plus I need to "interview" a person who has use speed, who ahs used crystal meth (alex duh x.x''), and a person who used heroin... Sure smile go right ahead Amy. I had an addiction psychiatrist teach me some psychiatry/neuro...he was mad cool xd these drugs of abuse never cease to amaze me with the way they work in the brain and how powerful they are to get people hooked onto them.

I still need people for the speed and heroin and I can't anybody... x.x'' The reason why a comatose patient in the ER gets all four, as you've probably figured, is cause they have to rule out the cause for coma. Coma's usually induced by respiratory center depression (brainstem depression), which leads to cardiorespiratory problems, OR not enough glucose getting to the brain (the brain's fuel is glucose, nothing else can be used).
