I'm a fan of the unorthodox cards too.

I don't know which one I like best. xD

Oh lord, Kirby. Poor little guy. xD;
PostPosted: Fri Feb 09, 2007 4:48 pm

Because no one ever thought that about him before? Hahaha, c'mon now.

I like the Midna and Samus ones though.

I still like the classics though. They're so terrible and cheesy.

And yeah, I usually have pretty bad luck when it comes to Valentine's Day too. I did get heart shaped brownies one year, but people don't generally get me any kind of gifts.

It's not as bad as the one with the hooker from VGCats, but I still feel bad for him.

I always get a kick out of the way Link growls at Midna after turning all wolf-y.

If I ever find a store selling those, I will die of happiness. xD

This is the first year I got something good (well, I've never gotten anything before other than the stuff our school does) for Valentine's day. Chocolates, a teddy bear, and handcuffs.
PostPosted: Fri Feb 09, 2007 4:59 pm

True, but in that respect Birdo is much worse off. I mean, he actually is a transvestite.

And I have a ton of those. But really, you could just print them out on some stiff paper and cut them out. Give them to people that way.

...now that I think about it, one of my girlfriends actually gave me a hand-me-down valentine. It wasn't even a good gift. It was a pack of cheap, unused "Naughty/Nice" coupons that they sell at Spencers.

Were they good handcuffs?

Birdo's a he? When did this happen?

That would be a lot cheaper than giving Valentine's through the school. Sure, fifty cents isn't bad for a can of 'crush' soda... but meh. Zelda is better for video game nerds.

Sounds like the fruit cake that's been around in my family for at least five years. D:

They're the little cheap ones from the drug store, but they work pretty well for less than a dollar.

dammit! i forgot to put the finishing touches on the valentine's present i have hiding in a computer bag at my feet right now (haha sneakypants), and i got out of work early and had the chance and everything. suck!!

It's actually more that "He" became a "she" because of the censorship. He's always been a he, in the instruction manual for Super Mario Bros. 2 it read "He thinks he is a girl and he spits eggs from his mouth. He'd rather be called 'Birdetta.'" I'm pretty sure he's always been a he in the Japanese versions, but it got changed later on in the US. Still, I remember the manual saying that way back in the day.

And oh yeah, those crush soda valentines. Jeez, they still do that? Oh well, the Zelda ones are neat. And yeah, a hell of a lot cheaper. Send it with those heart candy things for extra fun. Looking at these, they must've been coming out right about when Super Mario 3 came out, since they reference that and Zelda II.

Well, though I haven't used them I don't plan on giving them to someone else. A hand-me-down valentine is a little insulting, don't you think? It suited her character though, honestly. Fruit cake is kind of nice though, sometimes.

Ahh, you really should get some good handcuffs. It pays off in the end.

Well, that does make more sense, now that I think about it. Why would America bother changing it, though? I don't think I was old enough to know the importance of reading instruction manuals when it came out in Super Mario All-Stars. It'd be wonderful if my SNES would work again so I could play it, instead of hoping it comes out on the DS/GBA.

The club that's doing it is run by one of the best teachers in the school... and she probably uses them for the pun effect. "Orange you glad you're my friend?" "You're grape!" I don't remember the one for berry, though.

Ooo, I think I know where I can get those industrial-sized amounts of chocolate Sweethearts to send along with them. Haha, Super Mario 3 came out a bit over a month before I was born.

It would be a bit more than insulting, I'd think. Oh, this is the fruit cake of nightmares. It looks exactly the same as it did when it first showed up, and is harder than a brick by now.

If I can find any next time I wander off to the mall or Chicago (I don't know if Spencers has any good ones), I'll look into them.

Because it looks bad to have a transgendered character in a children's game. And that was back when it first, first came out anyway. Also, all the old Mario games came out on the GBA some time ago as the "Mario Advance" series. A lot of old games got ports or remakes, actually. And I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of them are on the Wii Virtual Console. I haven't checked that though.

Ah, well that makes sense then. They did the same thing at my old high school, except it was more expensive. They also had a school wide dating computer service thing where you filled out a multiple choice form and you picked up the results for a small fee. Most of us did it for a kick, but I only saw one person on the list that I actually knew, and we were old friends anyway.

Oh yeah, they're called Sweethearts. Thanks, that was gonna bug me. Jeez, I forget how young some of you guys are sometimes. I remember being all super hyped up for it and seeing the Wizard with Fred Savage and all that crap.

I suppose now that I think about it, it was pretty insulting...but I didn't think much of it at the time. Like I said though, if you knew the girl, it just fits. I think I got her some roses and chocolates because she asked. And oh man, scary cake. Those are fun too though, if used properly. I like to cut them up into squares and randomly hide them in piles of rice krispie treats.

Handcuffs usually fall into the "Real, comfortable, or functional" category. Not many ever fill more than one. Functional ones with the quick release are usually best. If you ever plan on using them for long periods of time or the person squirms a lot though, I'd look into some leather lined cuffs...*cough* Not that I'd know much about these things of course. Just, y'know, the normal ones dig into your skin and rub you raw after awhile.

I can see how some parents would get fiesty over something like that. Come to think of it, I think a Target near here had at least two of the remade Mario games in stock when I went a while ago. More and more reasons keep popping up to encourage me to get a Wii; it wouldn't be a surprise at all, since they were such hits.

The holiday things have been surprisingly sheap this year... the most expensive so far has been the fifty cents for the soda. That sounds like it could end up being way too much fun, although I know some people that get 100% compatability and absolutely loathe the other person.

No problem. I forget how old some of the people here are... Weird. I remember winning 64 dollars through gas station scratch & wins and rushing off to Wal-Mart to get the Power Rangers game for the SNES.

Bah, I can think of a few people that would do that, even to someone they cared for. Roses and chocolates are the best; screw jewelry. Next time we have a family get-together, I really should do that. Mom would try to kill me, though. xD

Well, if I get rubbed raw, I can demand loving care or something, unless he decides to be mean and tease me about it. It sounds like the leather lined would be best, though.

Yeah, hell they still get strung up over the dumbest things. But I doubt that'll ever change, just sensibilities. Yeah, the Wii is a pretty awesome console. The virtual console thing is pretty cool, and most of the games seem to be cheap. I've seen a lot of really awesome things done with it so far.

Thats pretty nice, I hate spending too much money for stupid things like that honestly. I always try (and usually fail) to be a little creative for Valentine's Day. And yeah, I think I had 80% or there about with the one person I knew, and we didn't really get along all that well. Not romantically, at least.

Eh, I assume everyone is my age until something sticks out to prove me otherwise. I know Sora is younger just because the gap is so large, but thats the only thing that really sticks out in my mind. And only because it's come up as a point more than once. I remember once I got one of those stupid voice recorder thing from Home Alone 2 (Shut up) and my cousins and I used to make running commentaries for stuff. Particularly we did it trying to play Super Ghosts and Goblins on the SNES, and I still remember it being hilarious somehow. I wish I could find the tape, because my little cousin wanted it, and my older cousin wouldn't let him have it. So he's on tape going, "No! You can't have the handy-dandy-mandy-candy....thing." Ahhh, I miss stuff like that.

Yeah, a lot of people like to give me second hand gifts. It can be a little annoying sometimes, but since it's a gift I can't really complain. I know I'm not an easy person to get a gift for either, so I let it slide. I really prefer foods and oddities myself. Fish squirt gun, strange tin box, obscure toy. I love things like that. And yeah, people get mad...but it's so worth it. Oh yeah, only put like one or two in there if you do it. Then you can hide the rest and do it again later.

Well, I mean "rubbed raw" as in "bloody, torn skin". It's not very fun, and it sucks if you're into it to stop because of that. Yeah, the padded cuffs are probably best. Maybe a little expensive, but worth it long term. Especially since things like that really do last long term.

Was there really something about people using the DS' picto-chat to stalk people? It sounds like it, but it seems like I get to wait until I find a job and the stores have them in stock to buy one. My neighbor's daughter (she's twenty-ish) has one, and I couldn't stop laughing when she was trying to do the boxing thing. Looks like way too much fun.

It's actually pretty surprising, since it seems like my school tries to suck out as much money as possible... at least when it comes to food. Home-made cards (from cardboard paper and such) can be really fun, if you have the patience for it; we made the old folks' home Christmas cards like that, and some of the cards were really beautiful. I've only heard stories of it, never anything personal... although my friend's school does something like that for Valentine's. I look forward to laughing at his results.

I have a habit of just not caring, unless they're what I consider to be creepy old for Gaia, something along the lines of over 30 or 35. That sounds like such a blast... Makes me think of things that happened with me, my brother, and many cousins in Virginia involving recorders and those things that could take over radio stations. It was great seeing mum snap on Jon for saying what he did.

It seems easier to just tell people to not get me gifts, since I'm kind of picky (unless its a stuffed animal). If they get something anyways, I end up feeling bad and have to find someway to return the favor... Y'know, I have to wonder if anyone's ever made a chicken shaped tuna sculpture, because of the 'chicken of the sea' logo. I can see fun times in the future, if I could figure out where the fruitcake is now.

That sounds pretty painful, though it would make an interesting story. And it sounds like I'd have to head to Chicago or some other moderately big city for something like that (yay for living in the boonies), but that's okay. There's some other stores I want to check out that wouldn't be at the malls around here.

No, there was that news report about it, but it's mostly fictitious. To see someone in Pictochat, you have to have pictochat open. It's the same as a chat room. If you're not in it, they can't see you. They came up with a lot of odd scenarios that really just aren't possible. I could see it maybe happening near a school or somewhere where people may actually use it, but it's not very likely. And yeah, the wii is kind of silly to play but it's fun. It's one of those things thats entertaining to watch and to play.

The crush thing was expensive but you could send a personalized message, which was why. I usually cook something, since thats one of the few things I'm actually any good at. It usually backfires in some way or another, but it's still fun to try. The effort is there, yeah? And yeah, I never heard of ANYONE ever looking for the top person. I was sort of out of the loop of course, but there were never even any anecdotal stories about that stuff.

It really was a blast, I miss doing stuff like that. I really want to do a radio show or something similar, where I can talk about whatever. Not alone, of course, I just think it would be fun. I find myself really into listening to podcasts lately. Man, I miss hanging out with people lately. I always used to have so much fun playing games with my friends like that.

I usually don't get other people gifts, or rather, I don't look for gifts for people. I'll still try to do something nice on special occasions, but I usually put off any gifts until I find the right thing. I'm one of those "Ooh, this really suits you!" type of gift people. I do it at random. Maybe someone has made that kind of sculpture, but I've never heard of it. And I'm sure the fruitcake is probably either in the back of the closet still in some sort of wrapping, or in the bottom/back of a cupboard somewhere.

Yeah, it's not very nice. The design is simple, but not too comfortable in any real way. The kind they use in institutions are made for restraint and are a lot more practical for a longer period of time. And yeah, you'd probably have to order online or go to a specialty store for something along those lines. I'm going up to Seattle myself tomorrow. No particular reason though.

It sounded like it was ridiculously exaggerated from what I heard about it today. And since it would make sense to use it when there's a lot of people around that you know to have a DS, it wouldn't be as risky as just about every other communication device. The DDR coming out for Wii sounds like it would be way too much fun to play at a party, or even watch someone play on youtube.

It would make sense to up the price a bit for that, I think. I've gotten lazy lately and just relied on the school for things to send people, although I'll probably end up using those cards for Valentine's. Cooking experiments with friends always lead to interesting results, that's for sure. Although, sometimes what you end up with, the dog who eats everything won't even touch it. Still can be fun for feeding the friend that's constantly hungry.

I think one of the best parts of creating or writing for a show would be getting together with everyone for the DVD production and doing the commentaries. The best thing about still beign in school is seeing most people on a regular basis... although, about twice a year, I think, a group of friends of mine get together at someone's house and have a two day video game festival. Mario Party at 3 am is very entertaining.

It's a rare occasion that I actually find something I know will suit the person, or that they'll like, unless I know them pretty well. A bit of money and a card are usually good enough, so they can go buy themselves something and not have to act like they like it until I'm gone. Although, I did manage to have a good shot when I got my friend a purse for her birthday, since she's a fanatic. I'm not even sure who has it anymore, but I'll try digging around. Maybe the weird odor in my brother's room is from that.

Well, it's a good thing I accidentally found Taboo Taboo while wandering around 'the alley' two summers ago. I was really tempted to spend most of the money I had, since they had some really neat clothing and, er, things. <<;

Yeah, I watched the news report on it this morning. The "64ft signal range" is a general signal range, as in the range near a normal house. The guy demonstrates that he can get up to about 300ft....in a large, open mall with no obstructions between him and the DS. It's actually fairly impressive, but they do mention that the signal gets up to about 120ft or so in open areas. I was just more impressed with the fact that it got up to 300ft. It's the same thing I heard about "Oh no! Kids can look up porn on the wii!" Well, yeah, they can. Because they can look up porn on the INTERNET. It doesn't divine porn out of thin air, the internet just has tons of porn. Get used to it. Yeah, the DDR game sounds kind of neat though. I really hope they have a disco mode, just because. I really think I should pick up a personal wiimote since my friends have wiis.

Well, I don't really do anything for friends. I might send them a card, but usually I just wish them a happy Valentines and share extra stuff I have. I never screw anything up, it just never quite turns out how I want it to. Though, there was one time when I was younger and living with my friend, and we decided to surprise the girls with a Valentine's Day dinner. Lets just say, it worked out in the end at least. We tried to make chicken, and make it all fancy and stuff. But our place was pretty run down, so it wasn't really great. Though, when we moved the furniture around I really liked it so we ended up keeping the arrangement for quite awhile.

Yeah, I love DVD commentaries. It's the only reason why I actually like watching DVDs. I always thought it would be fun to do something like that, or a Mystery Science Theater 3000 style commentary on something. It doesn't have to even be that bad, really. And yeah, it kind of sucks getting older because now all my friends work or have gone off to college and we don't get together very often anymore. It's really kind of a bummer. Luckily a few of my friends have an apartment not too far from here, but I really don't like hanging out over there...I always found group Halo to be entertaining, but only because when my friends get into it they start yelling. A lot of our traditions stem from playing too much multiplayer Halo and losing. Doesn't matter who is losing, someone always is and they get frustrated.

My friends and I are all usually broke, so we don't really do stuff like that often. It's usually just a party for all of us, just because. We treat one another often enough as it is when one of us actually has the money to do so, it's pretty nice. But yeah, either my friends are easy enough to read or I know them well enough that I don't feel worried about things like that. I'll run across something and go, "Hmm, y'know, this reminds me of them. I'll get it." I don't even care if they like it, it suits them and thats that. Most everything ends up in one another's possession anyway, somehow.

Mmm, yeah, places like that usually have interesting clothes you really can't find anywhere else. The good stores always have quality stuff too, it's really nice. Luckily I'm not really into anything myself, so it keeps me from spending money in places like that. Remember kids, necessity is the mother of creativity.
