Hold on a sec...Run a CC oriented unit toward something, fire with their weapons when they have range, and then assault? I never would have thought of something so brilliant!

Be warned: With some of the promises/threats of the new Marine codex, those Assault Terminators are gonna have 3+ invulnerables.

Really? I should start paying more attention to the rumors. That would blow, but it's not as bad as Terminators having a 3+ save on 2d6.

Yeah...it's gonna suck. Oh well. I expect for them to be carved apart at range by things that are fully capable of it. The best prevention will be to keep the vulnerable things fairly close together so that they can possibly disrupt the deep strike.

i lately did a conversion on an excorsist tank, i made organ pipes for the missiles, but it was on a grav tank chassis. it looks cool, but i don't use it in games, it spoils them. My heavy weapons are good at doing my enemies in, especially a twin-linked brightlance.

Just a random subject change.

I have a strategy for taking on a squad of assault termies, what I would usuallly do is send my banshees right into the thick of it, shurikens firing. As soon as i get close enough i tie them up in close combat, then i bring a squad of dark reapers in to give my Banshees support, aswell as a few blasts from my war walker. I'm quite the assasin when it comes to 40k, especially against the tau, i just tie their fire warriors up, but the XV8s and the drones are freakin' annoying.

That's a bit reckless, if you ask me. You have a squad of Banshees, Dark Reapers, and a War Walker all focused on attacking a single squad of Assault Terminators. That's about 365 points of your army engaging them ( I don't know how many terminators there are ) and you'll probably end up losing most if not all of it in an effort to destroy them upfront in direct combat (ie- where they specialize)

More Orky then Eldar, and if you're not careful the Space Marine will just bring something else around back to slam you.

You're tactics don't sound Assassin-like, more Orky if anything.

that's not orky, and there are only about 4 banshees against 7 termies! i use what i use, and it works like an orchestra.

4 Banshees against 7 Terminators?

Do you ever win?

Yes, the banshees I use have forgone ranged weapons. Therefore they are equipped with 2 witchblades.

One of my friends had a question regarding the weapon platforms in the guardian box: What gun is the thing that looks like a reaper luancher supposed to be?

im guessing theyre not assault termies and im guessing for some reason no one saw you coming, that strategy doesnt seem like assassin style at all, an assassin gets in, strike hard, fast then gets out before any counterattack could be made. if your units are perfectly coordinated (and if your enemy is idiotic enough not to realise your placing such easy prey right where he could get them) then youd be wiped out.

all in all though i see your reasoning, tie up the hitters with some relatively cheap units while pounding them from a far, a decent idea but one that could be better done by the tau methinks.

The Eldar Missile Launcher.

what do people think of this 750 point list against SM, both vanilla and BA

Farseer with guide
6 Howling Banshees - exarch with mirrorswords
10 dire avengers - exarch ith diresword
10 guardians with starcannon
1 vyper with bright lance
wraithlord with wraithblade and starcannon
3 dark reapers

Edit: @bonslydude: it;s bugging me, are you making up your own rules? banshees with 2 witchblades?

A figment of imagination

I'm finding that Warwalkers are worth twice their points as a support unit. A walker with Shuriken Cannon and Scatter Laser costs 50 points even, and scythes through infantry, light vehicles, and rear/side armor like it was paper. A unit of them for 150 points can put out 21 shots at 24 inches or 12 shots at up to 36". I've played several games using several of the walkers as a core, at various point-sized games, and they've always been well worth it.

More than that, they're not afraid of Soulgrinders. It was...honestly, it was awful.

Rear armor 11, six S6 shots.... Hey, the walker paid for itself four times over that game. biggrin

Quick question about color schemes. Do the aspect warriors have to be coloured a certain way, or is it just recommended?

I get the impression that it's a strong recommendation.
