candy!x0x0 froglyomatic omg... if u play a mellophone, u r probably an old trumpet dungbrain, who knows absolutely nothing about a french horn. i am a true french hornist, and have been for almost 5 years. those of u who cannot play on the original F horn or on the double(like me) horn in the keys of Bb and F, u should not b here because u are fakes. haha! I so agree!!!! I'm forced to play mellophone during pep band and I hate it!! its like the anti horn!!!!!!!!!! its always out of tune, the bell is hard to keep up because the weight isn't distributed evenly, and its just a pain to listen too in general. Its almost impossible to make it sound half way decent. The only reason why they make it is so we don't have to march onto the fields with our horns and look really stupid trying to keep our hands in the bell lol the weight on a Mellophone is such that you can make it SPIIINNNN!!! biggrin DDD i love that. at my school, we spin the mellophone around our hand like a flag and call it our "Razzle-Dazzle"!!!

OMG! i love doing that!! im a freshmen and ive been playing for 5 months now (im pretty good:p) but i played trumpet before (double F horn and Mellophone :p)but there is only two other horn players. sooooo i played mello for marching and sitched to horn in concert band. I LOVE IT!!! the trumpet section was fll of guys that i hated so i was happy to get out of there XP haha and they get yelled at ALOT. i have come to the conclusion that french horn is just a very misunderstood instrument cuz it isn't popular in most schools. it is quite sad cuz it is an AMAZING instrument. and i think most people here would agree with me!!! i <3 French horn

FRENCH HORNS ROCK!!! lol im a freshman horn and mello player at my high school, and im running for section leader for the 09-10 marching season, we only have 3 horn players, 1 junior and two freshmen. does anyone out there have a mello section of more than 3? cuz this small number stuff is starting to get on my nerves. lol, is it just a coincidence?? lol

Why doesn't as many people post here?! Horn is like total awesomeness. I hate how people stereotype horns, though. Fredrick (My horn. Yes, I named my horn.) gets really offended by it. People call me weird for naimg my instruments. Crazy, right? xd

KellyCosmonaut I love the horn! heart I picked it up my junior year of high school and now am thinking about majoring in horn performance along with music ed =] Btw, we're not called 'french' anymore haha People around here get pissed if we get called french horns. Like in symphonic band, our director will occasionally let the french slip and we'll just sit there and stare at him XD And then he's like "Oh sorry, my bad horns!" lol I agree with the not french thing lol
