First off, it's the way they slit their wrists. If a person is really trying to commit suicide, slashing horizontally won't cause problems. Now vertically, yes.
It truly depends on how deep, where, etc. There's no set answer. My husband has had veins removed, they have a remarkable way of rerouting the bloodflow.
The Soldat stuff is cute, someday I will complete my Patton look.

The person in question had their arm sliced in a fight. This was back in the middle ages, so they, of course, had no good doctors. If the guy just wrapped his arm up, should it be okay?

If a proper tourniquette was applied tight enough, then said person should NOT bleed to death from a knife fight type wound.

Ah, okay. Because this character has to live. I was just making sure that it would be medically correct to keep him alive. It was a horizontal slash to the upper forearm...near the elbow. Well, the elbow pit thing-a-ma-jig. I'm just so good with words today. rolleyes

Now, another way to stop the blood loss, and was at least very common for hundreds of years not sure what time period on the Middle Ages it might fall into, is cauterizing the wound.
Come to think of it, I've read accounts of 1300 where people were geting arrow, sword wounds cauterized. They'd get the guy drunk, give him a stick to bite down on, and heat up a sword or other metal and apply it to the wound.
Oh, and probably throw some alcohol they were drinking on the wound as well. Sounds interesting and painful!

BadLoki Just in case no one has noticed, we have a new Announcement at the top of the guild forums. We are currently in need of 2 new Crew members for the GPG! So please check out the new Announcement if you're interested. You MUST read the whole first post though BEFORE posting a reply. So far we have 3 applicants, but I know there has to be more of you who would like to apply as well. So check it out and let us know what you think! When we first moved to this system... I really wanted to be a crew member. and wanted for this moment to come. Now that it's here... I find that I'm just involved into too many things on gaia. I wouldn't be able to devote myself fully in a way that this guild deserves from it's crew members. So.. i'm not going to apply. As for my look guys... I had my fox-box baby send me my complex jacket i loaned him back. my black one... yeah. anyways.. i also got my steel boots. i just have to say i really love my soldat boots! heart yeah. so now i have one last item which is the hat.. and i'm off to a good start towards it.

omg omg... i have a wonderful idea!!! and we could all pitch in to cover the cost and share copies of it.. but how many of you moms would be interested in getting some combat looking clothes, and we all have an group avi art done... and it could read GPG at the bottom with us all together but some of us in different poses. we don't all have to have the same outfit on.. but stuff that's all militarish. ^_^ That would be totally rad. it could have a quote on it that says "saving the world through one diaper at a time! ^_~ "

Hi everyone, just poppin gin for a brief hi. Fall break's coming up next week, and they've really been piling on the extra homework trying to get in as much stuff as possible before the break, so I haven't had hardly any time to be on Gaia lately.
What do you guys think of my new tail? I just found it in a Pink Box. It's the first thing I've gotten from an event that I've actually wanted to keep at least for a little while.
I wish much luck to whoever gets to join the crew. I've been around since like page 15 of the original guild, and I'd love to do it, but with school and still running my businesses and my family... I just don't have the time to be on the computer any more, at least not consistently. smile
Well hope everyone's having a nice day. I've gotta run and type outlines for two presentations I need to give this evening. gonk ja ne

I just had to take Tommy to the ER, he's got salmonella poisoning (he says he knows from micro classes and he's seen it before at ths hospital). I didn't want him to have to drive home or back, so I won't be on at all till he calls. Ijust wanted to give a headsup for tonight for any of my chat buddies!

I went to the tech near me to see about getting my GED. I almost had a panic attack doing it though. This is horribly...I don't know how to put it. I just need to do this. I just hope I don't throw up when I go in for my test. I also found out not too long ago that one of my problems in school is that I have a slight learning disability. I don't comprehend oral directions on a normal level. It cause problems because a lot of my teachers based their lessons on oral dictation. So now I understand what the problem was at least. sweatdrop
