basic jutsu are custom designed jutsu you make that do absolutely nothing stat wise. They are considered level 0 jutsu and can encompass abilities such as extra sensory hearing, water walking, wall climbing, acrobatics, etc.
the normal jutsu can be selected from any of the premade jutsu available or jutsu made by another player.
Custom jutsu are stat based jutsu you create yourself. You acquire these every 15 intelligence; the first level custom you are allowed to make is level 5(higher if you chose the non-descript clan) and increases by 5 levels every 15 int you gain. your custom jutsu would be a lvl5 jutsu and a lvl10 jutsu as of now.

I'm just still confused how one could have a custom version of their sharingan, other than number of tomoe, without being Mangekyou.
That's all. I have 20 intelligence now, so as to that, being an Academy Student.

hm, well everyone has differences in what they can do, think of a unique sharingan as a unique feature of a character. sure they may function the same as another's (given you only use that one effect on a custom technique) but it could be varied in color and shape even, after all sharingan is pinwheel eye. it never says anything about having to be red or any particular color for that matter. as far as that goes you can be creative with it. 3nodding

Final: Confused? Its your character, you figure out all the little details =D
If you wanted more techniques where you copy, extend the life of the normal sharingan doing like... a quick spinning variant (where it gets more info from spinning fast), different uneven combos of tomoe in each as your character gets stronger (like 1/1, 2/1, 2/2, 2/3, 3/3), or combine those two variations together (like Quick 2/3 Tomoe, which would be 2 tomoe in one eye, and 3 in the other, spinning quickly to give you better copy quality)
With those two details alone, you have 10 Custom Techniques that will probably last you until you're a jonin, and you wont even have touched Magenkyo.

I would never changed the shape nor color, because to me that goes against the show. Lol.
Although, to save confusing questions, could I come up with a genjutsu that is casted by the sharingan itself, with certain affects from that? Would make sense. Instead of a preset genjutsu, one of my own?
Just wondering though.

Inu, hm, I could see where that would make sense. Just hard, going from a guild that rules each tomoe acquired with certain prerequisites, to a guild that lets you freelance it. Whole different concept, so I'm trying to learn. xD

custom jutsu are left to the creators imagination. you can do whatever you want with them.
if you want a genjutsu that spawns a giant mutant gray talking rabbit that dresses in drag then that's your choice to do so.
pretty much if you can describe it properly there is no problem with the techniques you can imagine. 3nodding
@Final- I learned that through playing the character my techniques fell into place. Heck my current character is a kidomaru and I have yet to tap into the clan effect for any of her jutsu, in fact nary a skill of hers that is stat based has anything to do with spiders lol. her basic jutsu silk craft is the only thing that hints at her blood line besides her four armed nature. 3nodding

We give people the freedom to create and develop their own character in this guild.
As for what I said about custom version, you can take that literally or just at surface value. You can make a third blue eye with the effect or you can just make another sharigan that for all purposes is the exact same thing, just a different level and thus more or less powerful.

I'll stick to tomoe upgrade at a level I feel is deserved.
Then deal with genjutsu from that.
I <3 genjutsu; that clever wordplay that does the trick.
