748. What does you dream home look like (please describe vividly)

Which one? The billionaire one, or the semi-realistic one? For everyone's sanity, I'll stick to the semi-realistic one.

First, it will be composed of 12 - 14 rooms, including bathrooms and a garage. There will be a wrap-around yard and perhaps an enclosed spa.

The enclosed spa, if outdoors, will be a gazebo type setting. If indoors, it should give the feel of a garden hot spring.

Wrap-around yard: The specifics depend on location, but d*** it! I will have yard all the way around my house, even if it's just cement.

Storage/Junk/Back Room: I have too much s*** lying around and the mindset of a packrat, to not need one. So, there it is.

Two Car Garage: This implies a nice, even driveway. I could also use it as a secondary craft/junk room, but I do want to be able to park my car in it.

2 1/2 Bathrooms: I want two full bathrooms, one as part of the master bedroom suite, and one for overnight guests. The 1/2 bathroom is for regular guests and convenience. I'm pretty sure this house warrants two stories. Oh yeah - BIG water heater. Also, I miscounted the bathrooms in my initial count, so add one to what I said before.

Utility Room/Pantry: This room should be fairly large. For I want a fairly stocked pantry, a washer and dryer, with a clothes sorting bin, and a drying rack. Needless to say, this requires a bit of room for all of that.

T.V. Room: Stocked with a big screen, digital, (hopefully flat panel) T.V., varoius and sundry gaming systems, surround sound, and satellite/cable depending on the better deal, but DVR is a must have. I'd also store videos, DVDs, and video games here, and now that I remember aVCR and DVD player, and hopefully not too many remotes. At least one, low table, one or two couches, and maybe a recliner/armchair in the stead of a second couch (or maybe two, because couches seat more than chairs).

Computer Room: I'm debating whether I want two computers or not. That feels like the norm to me. Anyway, at least one desktop and one laptop. If there's a second desktop, one's for play, one's for work, or guests, or whatever. Ethernet all the way. I'd store computer s*** here, naturally, and a printer, scanner, and maybe a digital camera. I'd want roller chairs, but they have to be ultra comfy. Roller chairs also require tile of some sort, so no carpet in the computer room.

Dining Room: Set up for six to eight diners. I want it to be elegant, but not so imposing that you're afraid to eat there, lest you spill something. I'd want the same room to be used for everyday eating and formal/semi-formal occassions. All occassions, really. Oh, and to me, elegant implies dark woods, so lots of those.

Living Room: Lots of couches and low tables. It would also double as a craft/play room, one of the tables should be rather large for jigsaw puzzles. There should be a stereo, again, with surround sound. The room should be able to store store puzzles, craft items, and CDs.

Kitchen: I want at least one island, thus it must be a good-sized kitchen, because the island shouldn't make the room feel crowded. There should be lots of cabinet space, but I'm willing to sacrifice some for a secondary freezer. Of course, there will be an oven, stove - preferably gas, microwave, toaster (toaster oven?), fridge and freezer combo, spice rack, and a good set of kitchen knives. I'd store all silverware (everyday and formal) here. The same goes for plate-ware. Also, tupperware, and of course, general kitchen/cooking/baking tools.

Two to Four Guest Bedrooms: There's no real reason to have so many, but if I ever have guests, I want someplace nice for them to stay. In a pinch, the extra bedrooms could act as the other rooms I want, but I'd rather not. Each room, of course, would be beautifully accomodated, I hesitate to say personalized. I'm tempted to color code them.

My Room: aka, the master bedroom. I want an adjoining bathroom that's not connected to any other room, and no windows. I also want a walk-in closet, specifically so I can try the table method (long story)....That, and I have a lot of clothes. The bathroom also has to have a shower and a bath, or a shower-bath. For my actual room, I want to try out a loft bed, but I want to be able to sit up all the way when on it, too. A desk and shelves ought to do as I want to turn the entire house into my haven, not just my room.

Belatedly, I find I also want a coat room/closet and a linen closet tucked away somewhere, as they are necessary storage rooms.

Mechanics, Details, and General Stuff:
- I sort of want the house to be ope, but I also kind of want it to be like walking into a little world for each room
- I want the whole house to become my library. The only exempt rooms would be closets, and most likely the hallways. Bathrooms will be my periodicals sections. Other than that, the books will be organized according to the personality and feel of the house. No matter what, there will be occupied bookshelves in every room.
- I like curtains, but I'm going to have cats. Thus, my windows will be dressed with shutters; unless I happen to find blinds that I really like. Wooden ones, perhaps (and they'd most likely be vertical, wood or no).
- Central air is a must.
- Ceiling lights in every room, accompanied by fans where appropriate. All fixtures must be able to accomodate flourescent bulbs (or sun-mimic bulbs in one or two places like the bathrooms or the spa). I want my house to be environmentally friendly, for the most part.
- I want a mix of floorings throughout the house - carpet, hardwood floors, tile (large, maybe medium, but no small ones as they hurt my feet I want most of my foot, if not all to fit in one tile), stone (flat, like flagstones or something). Rugs, only in places with tile, hardwood or stone (I've seen rugs on carpeting and was not impressed). I'd maybe like to experiment with mixed floorings in the same room.
- Preferably high (vaulted?) ceilings.
- Dark woods, and some medium woods. Even light woods, here and there. Like I said before, I like mixing woods.
- For color schemes, I want bold/bright/jewel-tone ceilings, with white/barely-tinted-color walls.

Well, that's an outline of my semi-realistic dream house. I kept it to an outline, because it's suppose to be semi-realistic. I concocted a floor-plan for my billionaire dream house. And for my fantasy dream house, floor plans would be useless, because it would change too much. Although, the fantasy dream house has a name and guidelines already attached to it. The name's Dark Abode. If you really want to know about the guidelines for Dark Abode, PM me.
