This week I set up the cage which now has two new fuzzy inhabitants-- two wild type mice from my mouse colony at work. They are both wild type (meaning they have no genetic alterations). One is black and the other is agoudi(brown). I have named them Drusilla and Darla respectively. I took them home when they were about 23 days old (mice are ready to be weaned from their mother at 18 days old).
There are a few pics of them here:
http://pics.livejournal.com/purupuru/gallery/0000hk33They are very hard to photograph as by the time the camera autofocus thing finishes they move at the last second! They seem to know exactly when to stop moving still.
whee They are so cute..! They also make many noises I don't get to hear at work because of the loud fan in the room they are kept. Little chitters and a very soft squeak...very different than the loud ones they give when distressed, which is the only noise I had heard them make until now.
sweatdrop Hopefully they will help me with not feeling so lonely at the apartment. I have also brought my dog (a geriatric jack russell) to visit me, but she is a lot of work to care for! @_@ I really do not like walking her out in Harlem at 3AM... people have commented on how fat she is, or asked if she is pregnant. I'm like no, she is 14 years old, has cancer and is on a medicine that makes her put on weight in her belly! Leave my poor shakey dog alone!
crying I tried to litter train her but telling her to "go potty" inside just makes her very confused and shake a lot.
xp Anyway, sorry for two posts in a row, but I wanted to share my new cuties.
wink By the way, if anyone else ever gets tempted to acquire their own BATMAN HAMSTER HOUSE, be warned, it is really cheap plastic and the slightest amount of force will break/crack it. =_= Attachments of similar cages at Petco were able to fit on it though.
xp
