“Yes, sir. Adiós, Señor Salvatore.” Tristen would attempt to reply in Paldean, still at the very least trying to show that he is trying to keep his ear out for the languages in general. He would adjust his pack then start his way out of the classroom, making his way down the halls and off for lunch. Tristen was left to wonder on his way to lunch the consequences of his actions now that he told Mr. Salvatore about Matteo and Gloria. Tristen was left to wonder if Matteo was going to find out in some way and how he was going to take it. He shouldn’t be mad or prideful about it, as far as Tristen could figure. He was doing him a favor. He’s trying to keep him out of trouble. But who knows how he was going to be honestly. Gloria might find out too, incidentally. Though maybe it won’t be too bad. He wasn’t afraid of her and if she did try anything, she’d be stupider than Tristen originally given her credit for.

He would find his way his way into the cafeteria just a very short time later and got in line. He would start taking a look around the cafeteria, trying to see if Matteo did in fact show up in the cafeteria, let alone to see if the others had shown up.
PostPosted: Mon May 05, 2025 4:56 pm

Tristen would find his way into the cafeteria, getting his sandwich, chips and drink, no doubt telling Ms. Picante thank you, and then making his way to the table where his group of friends where. All of the usual ones were there; Nemona, Penny, Florian and Camp with Matteo and the twins coming up after Tristen arrived, the boys busy talking Matteo's ear off. Tristen would be given a greeting by those there and the two stragglers would as well however a conversation would be started up by the time they got there.

"Oh, Tristen, we were just talking about you." Florian said after the greetings, the boy sitting next to Nemona. "Nemona here was-"

"I'm heading to Cascarrafa after school!" Nemona blurted out to Tristen, the group flinching, sans Matteo and the twins which were still trying to get seated. "Think I'll see your dad there!? He's a hybrid too, right?" She asked Tristen, getting excited over the idea of meeting Blizzard.

"A hybrid? Please Nemona, that's the Noble Hybrid." Penny quipped as she looked up from her phone.

"Noble Hybrid?" Camp perked up after swallowing his sandwich. Looks like he wasn't in the know.

Matteo was still busy getting the boys to actually sit down and not show off the posses the heroes do in that show. Apparently they spent the past several nights memorizing them instead of studying.

Tristen would see the others and apparently Matteo did in fact show up for lunch. Well, that was good. Maybe he could check to see if Matteo was doing better now that he wasn’t in Gloria’s antagonistic radius. Though he’d note no Fela, though. Was she running late? He wondered if the issues dealing with Vivillion were still an issue. But what could she do at this point? Mr. Jacq had Vivillion now. It was over. She seemed to be fine after the class yesterday. He’d just have to see. He’d once again he’d wait his turn, and once at the counter, said hello to Ms. Picante once again, getting his sandwich from the nice lunch lady, then finally went to get his chips and drink, making his way off for the table with the others once again.

“Hey everyone, how’s it going?” The Manectric teen asked once he finally got to the table. He took a seat, and Florian would be the first one to speak up, though he couldn’t really get everything out at first. Nemona was full blown battle frenzy mode, really dead set to take on his father. Tristen grimaced a little bit, then couldn’t help but to sigh a little, finding the situation a bit comical considering everything but even so. Penny would then bring up about his adoptive father being the Noble Hybrid, which apparently didn’t click to the likes of Camp. Fela and Penny knew who he was outright when he spelled it out to those two the night before the Team Star attack. He figured, though, after the attack and Tristen’s status of being a Team Snagem member, it would have clicked as to what exactly was going on, especially when he did tell the entire group recently that his adoptive father was the apprentice and future gym leader of Mahogany Town. Apparently, they didn’t make that association.

“Uh, yea. He is.” Tristen said. “My dad is Blizzard, an Articuno hybrid. Just…if you do find him, please don’t call him the ‘Noble Hybrid’. He doesn’t see himself as any noble and only got that title because of a lot of stuff that happened in Kalos and it stuck with him. He says the stuff in Kalos made him more famous than he cares for. He really doesn’t like that title too much.” He said to them. “And I really don’t know if he would be still in Cascarrafa by now. Like I said, he was on the way to there a couple of days ago and for as all I know, he could probably be done with it and headed back to Medali by now. If he is still in Cascarrafa, he’d probably be leaving it by now.”

Nemona frowned as Tristen pointed out it was unlikely his father was still in Cascarrafa, no doubt having already earned that city's badge and moved onto the next. She was closing in on the 'Noble Hybrid' but not as fast as she had thought originally. Settling back down in her seat she let out a disappointed sigh. "Man, that stinks. Maybe I can knock out two gyms this evening...hm..." Nemona said aloud to herself, a ludicrous statement for anyone else to make but even her friends knew it wasn't that crazy coming from the greatest Champion rank trainer Paldea has ever seen. At the same time though how could you even move around that fast? There are only so many hours in a day.

"Oh, I think I heard something about that before...that's neat. So your father must have done a lot in Kalos to earn such fame. That's really cool. And from the sound of it now he's working on gaining fame in Paldea. I see where you get it from." Camp responded to Tristen before taking a big bite of his sandwich.

While they were talking about his father Fela finally showed up with her tray, sitting down next to Tristen with a smile and gave everyone a wave. "Hey guys! What are we talking about?" She asked as she got comfortable. No doubt she got some strange looks considering how she was the last time most of them saw her.

"Oh uh...nothing important, just Tristen's dad but uh...how are you, Fela?" Penny asked, a bit befuddled over this shift.

"Hm? I'm good! So what's this about Tristen's dad? Is he going to be visiting or something?" She asked before taking a bite of her sandwich. Penny would give Tristen a look that said 'what's this about?'.

“Well, he’s not doing it to get famous. He’s just out to train some Pokémon that he hadn’t an opportunity to really train like he wants to. And after the whole incident with Team Star a couple of weeks ago, plus other stuff, that kinda got derailed. He came back when I started back classes just to finish what he started.” Tristen tried to explain to Camp. It was a little complicated to say the least, let alone explain to someone that his father was one to be more important as opposed to famous.

Tristen perked up, seeing Fela finally show up. To everyone else it was a pretty hefty shift in her attitude once she greeted everyone, but to Tristen, who had been around to see Fela after Mr. Jacq’s class yesterday afternoon, she was apparently getting better. At least, she seemed that way. Tristen wasn’t quite sure if she was still bottling everything up or not, but it wasn’t anything that he was going to try to pry into right at the moment. Maybe just a quick question and such, but nothing to grill her over. No need to. At least not yet. For now, he’d just get her up to speed. “No, not that I know of at least.” He said. “Like I mentioned before, he’s just trying to explore the region and take on the gyms and Nemona has been trying to track him down and has been wanting to battle him. She thought maybe she could catch him in Cascarrafa, but he’s probably already left there to go to somewhere else by now.” Tristen couldn’t help but to think for a moment if he should give his adoptive father a call right now. But as far as what he could figure, if he helped Nemona track him down and arrange a battle between the two, Nemona was probably not going to let up. As far as what he could gather given Nemona, his father was effectively the holy grail of Pokémon battles in the region currently. Short of perhaps of that Geeta chairman lady, that is. He’d never get any more peace to actually finish his training session in the region. He honestly debated if only briefly if it was going to be that bad if he pointed Nemona in the right direction…

He'd shake his head at the thought then looked back at Fela. “Anyways, there was that and I also had to explain about who exactly my dad is. I was under the assumption at this point everyone had figured it out.” Tristen sheepishly said, rubbing the back of his head. “Other than that, haven’t talked about too much yet. Haven’t seen you since Mr. Jacq’s class yesterday. Are you still alright with Vivillion and everything?” he asked.
PostPosted: Tue May 06, 2025 4:26 pm

"Well that makes sense. Be nice, Nemona. Not everyone is as crazy about Pokemon battles all the time like you are." Fela said, looking at Nemona for that last part, the other girl rubbing the back of her head in embarrassment as she was correctly called out. She would turn her attention back to Tristen when he brought up the topic of Vivillon, though her expression not changing much, still relatively happy. "Yeah, I'm okay. I went back to see Mr. Jacq early today and we talked some more. I'm going to be okay." Fela explained to Tristen, implying that while she was better yesterday there was still something she needed to get over today and sought Mr. Jacq out to help with that, which he did.

"Aren't we releasing them tomorrow?" Camp spoke up, finishing off his sandwich already as he jumped in on the conversation about the Vivillon.

"Yeah, ours really seems ready to get going. Camp had to chase it down yesterday after it tried to fly away already." Penny chimed in. Looks like Mr. Jacq had timed all this perfectly.

"Tomorrow is going to be an important day for the Spewpa and Vivillon." Fela added on.

Tristen found it a little comical knowing that Penny and Camp’s Vivillion also decided to high-tail it off, albeit for different reasons as opposed to his and Fela’s. Tristen would take a couple of bites out of his lunch, listening to the others. Well at least Fela is doing good for the time being, as he could figure. “You know, that kinda reminds me a little bit. Remember when Mr. Jacq talked about Pokémon’s innate natures yesterday and how we shouldn’t try to fight them? I had a little realization that I may be trying to train Wimpod wrong. Because you know how he ends up recalling himself back into his Pokeball and somehow gets out another Pokémon in his place when the going gets tough? I’m thinking that I might know a way to work with that instead of trying to get Wimpod to stand his ground.” Tristen said. “Though, I don’t think that’s going to help Wimpod evolve anytime soon, but I got to do what I can, right?”

A thought then occurred to the Manectric hybrid. “Speaking of class assignments, hey Matteo, Camp? You two get done with your reports for Ms. Raifort’s class that’s coming up?” he asked. “I managed to get done with mine last night…it took a lot. Though there was a lot to it…I may have picked up one of the harder ones to do.”

"Wimpod huh? You know, a couple days ago I did some studying on Wimpod since I was unfamiliar with the species and with my own experienced coupled with that I think you may be onto something. Often times you have to treat Bug type Pokemon different from others, they are most heavily slaves to their instincts than other Pokemon. They need to react faster than they can think to survive." Camp explained, confirming that Tristen likely has the right idea when it concerned Wimpod.

When Tristen brought up the reports for Ms. Raifort's class Matteo would perk up, physically pushing the twins away from him with each hand as he went to respond. "I finished mine. Definitely a C tops but I'm happy when my projects pass." He said to Tristen, letting go of the twins in that moment.

"Why C? Why not a B!?" B chimed in with a giggle. Matteo rolled his eyes.

"Or even better, an E!" E said, getting in on the joke.

"That doesn't make sense." B said as he turned his brother. The two then began to get into an argument about why or why not their initial made sense for the joke. Kids.

"I also finished. I did my report on the ancient bug predator that once roamed Paleozoic Unova over three hundred million years ago. Not much is known about outside of partial fossils and a lot of stories with some people thinking the fossils themselves are either fake or just from some other extinct Pokemon. I believe it existed though and it was the cause of the extinction of numerous other Pokemon species, having hunted them to extinction. It reigned supreme until something came that it couldn't defeat; a meteor. And so it died with all the other 'fossil' Pokemon as we call them. If only we could revive it like the others. A boy can dream." Camp said with a dreamy sigh.

Tristen had to stifle a chuckle a little. He was still reminded a little bit of being their age, hanging around with his adoptive brother and all. A little nostalgic and all. It was a feeling that'd pass as soon as it would come. "Well, I had the Darkest Day that was based out of Galar and some of the stuff that I thought might have been the case might very well have been. The whole dynamax phenomenon they had. I couldn't find out how they found it to be used as a good thing like how Paldea has with the Tera phenomenon, but I did end up piecing that together and how the two kings that supposedly got credit for rescuing Galar from the Darkest Day possibly shouldn't be taking full credit for it. With Ms. Raifort talking about having to pick apart some of the tales and see where fiction possibly meets truth, its kinda crazy. If I had more time, maybe I could have found more to it. Hopefully what I got is good enough, though..." Tristen said.

Tristen thought for a moment. The only thing that was left unchecked really was how Matteo was feeling after dealing with Gloria. Though, doing that would probably involve him asking about that whole Blueberry thing. While asking him here would probably be better than having Gloria hovering over him, he was left to question if by chance if this was something he wanted the others to know about. As it stood, he seems to be fine now, and probably will be in Ms. Raifort's class as well. Giving Mr. Salvatore the heads up however and getting him to probably talk to Mr. Jacq in the more immediate future can help keep Gloria off of Matteo's case. Maybe he'll start asking about this Blueberry later, sort of more in private as opposed to out in the open.

Tristen at this point was a little more focused on getting his lunch finished off and getting ready for the next period. He'd carry on with the others, talking about whatever they want to talk about, though Tristen wouldn't be able to contribute too much in B and E's TV talk. In a rare instance of Matteo agreeing with the twins, they couldn't believe just how media blind Tristen was, not actually sitting down to watch any sort of shows. He never had much of an opportunity to; something that he never really thought about. Being with Snagem skewed a lot of priorities. He spent more time playing and training with his Pokemon whenever he wasn't out trying to save one tiny speck of the world at a time. Penny would try to chime in to recommend some anime to look into later whenever he had a moment since Snagem was a bit on the back burner right now. And leave it to Nemona to offer filling in some time with another battle, provided she gets back in time from her impromptu trip to Cascarrafa. Though at this point, he'd probably sooner try to get a sparring session in with either Matteo or Florian at this rate instead of that proverbial brick wall.

Lunch would finally conclude and classes were about to be on their way once more. Tristen would clean up around his spot and would walk with Matteo and Camp on their way to Ms. Raifort.
PostPosted: Wed May 07, 2025 3:13 pm

The boys would talk a little bit more about their papers on the way to Ms. Raifort's class, with Camp going on about ancient bugs there for a bit, such as Anorith, and Matteo desperately trying to get him off the topic and failing. Camp himself charge the topic slightly though when mentioning he didn't like giving oral speeches and hoped they didn't have to read their papers aloud. Matteo commented that he didn't mind them though, though Raifort didn't let him do them ever since last year when he sneaked a bad word into his. He got detention for that one.

Eventually they'd make it to the room where they would all sit down and talk some more while they waited for class to begin with Camp getting back on the ancient bugs rant and Matteo just completely zoning out. That rant would only last a few minutes as Ms. Raifort showed up and closed the door, the bell ringing shortly after. "Hello class!" Raifort said cheerfully. "Who is ready to learn some history!?" She said, playfully rubbing her hands together as she took to the front of the classroom.

"Today I'm asking you to turn in your reports on myths and legends but first, I want you to speak on it. One by one you will come up to the front of the class and tell us a bit about what myth you wrote about. You don't have to read your entire paper, just give us a recap of it and an interesting thing. When you're done set your paper on my desk." Raifort explained as she seated herself on the corner of her own desk. "So, who's first?" She asked, getting a couple of hands in response.

-----

Three students would go before Camp did, the Bug Catcher once again giving an impassioned speech about ancient bug Pokemon and how it related to the 'ultimate predator' that was Specimen 155, as academic circles identified its fossil as. He would go on how all prehistoric Pokemon feared it, how it had no predators of its own and would consume anything it could kill. He definitely was reading his entire report and some, so much so that Ms. Raifort had to cut him off. With Camp done two more students would go until the teacher called for Tristen to come up next.

He would go on how all prehistoric Pokemon feared it, how it had no predators of its own and would consume anything it could kill. He definitely was reading his entire report and some, so much so that Ms. Raifort had to cut him off. With Camp done two more students would go until the teacher called for Tristen to come up next.

As the trio bound for Ms. Raifort’s class carried on, something bothered Tristen about Camp, and not so much as his obsession with bugs in general. That he recalled, didn’t he mention his project was based around the bugs that apparently came from space. Unless, that is, he’s possibly associating those bugs that he’s talking about as those insect creatures that came effectively out of nowhere. Tristen supposed he couldn’t blame him; not even Team Snagem knew much about Ultra Space and the fact they had a massive muscle-bound bug was by happenstance. Tristen couldn’t help but to remind himself that they hadn’t been through what he has and there were things even Snagem wasn’t exactly clear on. He end up having to hold his tongue all the way into Ms. Raifort’s class where Camp continued to go on, talking all things bugs. It was astounding just how much he actually had to say on the matter. Even as he made his way up to give his presentation, even Ms. Raifort had to cut his presentation short; it wasn’t as if Ms. Raifort had all day.

When Tristen was called, he would take his papers to the front to address the class. He started to give a quick skim over what he wrote down, the report that he spent the past couple of nights researching and trying to come to a final report on. With a deep breath, he would brace himself and start trying to present. “A couple of millennia ago, perhaps closer to three thousand years ago, the people of the Galar region would find themselves in turmoil. A light came down from the sky and fell upon the earth and upon striking the earth. The skies turned dark, clouds a bloody crimson color. It only seemed like this herald the end of the world for the people of that age. The people would find Pokémon dwarfing the tallest trees, and some of them even maddened by the changes that came down upon them. The populace was in panic; a calamity that didn’t seem to have any hope to be resolved. That was until two youths stepped forward, one bearing a sword, one bearing a shield, and went to find the very thing that started what would be known in Galar as the Darkest Day.”

“These youths would actually manage to succeed in their mission. The skies returned to the way they were supposed to be and the populace would hail these two as kings to rule over Galar. But is this story something that we can take at face value? Well, if we could, Ms. Raifort wouldn’t have assigned this to us, would she? Truthfully, there are many has been trying to uncover the details of the Darkest Day, especially given that it has the single biggest historical impact in Galarian history. For instance, the colossification of the Pokémon could very well be the Dynamax phenomenon that those in Galar take pride in today, just as say Paldea does with Terastalization. There are researchers that has bore witness to parallels to what was described in the tale of the two youths and the Darkest Day. For instance, the Dynamax phenomenon does in fact turn the skies dark in a localized area when utilized. Or, for that matter, if sensitive enough to the energies the phenomenon produces, could very well make a Pokémon go crazy.”

“It would be easy to stop there, admittedly. The youths, let alone the Galar populace of 3000 years ago was trying to fight against the Dynamax phenomenon. To them at the time, they were probably trying to defy an act of whatever gods they once believed in all in order to survive. But it came to light recently, according to a Professor Sonia, a leading researcher in the history of the Dynamax phenomenon that the two youths that would be kings were perhaps not alone in their endeavors.” Tristen would take out his SNAG, laying it on the counter to get access to the digital board to pull up a picture for the class, let alone Ms. Raifort to see. Tristen would get a picture of the statue that was uncovered in Stow-on-Side that was hidden away, two figures, presumably Pokémon, well preserved. “This statue was recently uncovered in a town called Stow-on-Side in the Galar region. It made the news within Galar about a couple of years ago because this statue was hidden away behind a mural of some kind that got destroyed to…well…someone being dumb. The statue is apparently dated back to around the time of the Darkest Day, and what makes researchers suspect that there was more to the salvation from the Darkest Day, these two Pokémon, one bore a shield, one wielded a sword.”

“In short, sometimes the truth is stranger than fiction. New discoveries lead to new conclusions and also new questions, like how, let alone why, did the Galar region manage to harness the power of the Dynamax phenomenon when it was out to destroy the region before? Who were these two Pokémon that aided the two youths and ascended them to become kings. Why didn’t these two Pokémon get any credit nowadays? Was the reason the reason for this statue to be hidden away? Its left on us in the modern day to uncover where the fiction ends and the truth begins.” Tristen would take back his SNAG and stash it back in his pocket then would go to attempt to turn in his report and the book he borrowed from Ms. Raifort back to the teacher.

Ms. Raifort would almost instantly become captivated by Tristen's speech, the woman leaning forward a bit so she could hear a bit better, the boy having her complete and undivided attention in this moment. Sure, she paid attention to all the students that went before Tristen, she had to as the teacher, how else would she decide who received what grade? But this was different, Tristen was different. Every so often in a teacher's career a student showed up that made their profession all worth it, a student who showed real academic potential and motivation. As a teacher there was nothing better than this to Ms. Raifort, to see a student immerse themselves in their work, especially in a topic that was as close to her heart as history. Jumping to her feet she began to clap.

"Astounding mister Tristen!" She said while clapping, the class taken a back a bit before some began to join in to politely clap for Tristen as he finished. To Tristen's probable surprise even Matteo clapped for him, for once not appearing jealous or threatened by Tristen's success. Progress on that front too. "Thank you so much, mister Tristen. I can't wait to read the rest of this." The teacher said as she took his report from him herself as well as the book. With that taken care of Tristen was beckoned to return to his seat. Looks like he aced this assignment.

With Tristen finished another student would go up and after them another. After that second student Matteo would go up, giving off that typical 'too cool to be bothered' attitude as he made his way up to the front. The boy would then proceed to read a bit about his report on Ninetales and the folklore around it concerning curses, particularly around turning them into Pokemon. Matteo's report boiled down to believe the folklore mostly true just not in the way people think, that maybe there is a connection between Ninetales and hybridization. He would begin to go into mystical theory, magic and stuff like that, much to the visible displeasure of Ms. Raifort. By the time he was done Raifort would sigh and thank Matteo before asking him to go sit down. Definitely not the same reaction as Tristen received.

After three more students went the bell would ring, signaling the end of class.

"Thank you all for your reports today! No homework for you this evening! Go finish class today and get a good rest tonight. See you all tomorrow!" Ms. Raifort would tell her class. As Tristen went to leave however she would stop the boy. "Mister Tristen, a moment please." She'd ask. "Do you have a personal interest in history?"

Tristen gave a relieved sigh once he got the praise from Ms. Raifort, and much to Tristen’s astonishment the other students were also joining in, most notably Matteo. Tristen wasn’t sure if it was Matteo’s fascination, finding the whole thing cool as he does on certain things, or if he actually legitimately thought that Tristen done a good job. It was honestly hard to say at this point. Tristen would take the proverbial win all the same. The past couple of nights of work on this project was well worth it. He would return to his seat and start watching everyone else give their presentation on their report. Matteo would eventually find his way up and give his report and it was apparently to Ms. Raifort’s disdain. Unlike the teacher, however, Tristen couldn’t judge Matteo too much, since some of what he and others in Snagem dealt with could very easily be said it was the mystical, supernatural sort of things. Just the very existence of Pokémon, let alone hybrids, were a whole point in contention if one thought about it. Just mere channelers were something of that sort as well. There were too many mysteries that couldn’t be written off that easily.

It was one presentation after the next which filled up the entire period and once the bell rang out in the halls, signaling the academy to transition to their final classroom of the day, Tristen would start getting his things together and start making his way to the door, following Matteo out. However, the Manectric hybrid would get stopped by the teacher, much to the teen’s confusion. Once he approached the teacher, she gave him a question that made him sweat a bead in nervousness a little bit. He’d give a slight nervous laugh, rubbing the back of his head. “Probably not as much as I may have let on, Ms. Raifort.” Tristen said. “Its fine and all, but uh…I was kinda taught well before coming here to not take things at face value at all and to dig deeper where I could. My uh…mother is one for history and she kinda emphasized it on me a bit growing up. In fact, she ended up teaching me some how to read by reading history books. Kinda a two birds one stone sort of thing. It probably also helped that my dad was also one that kept talking about ‘failing to learn history makes one doomed to repeat it’, but I think that’s more of him talking about one’s own mistakes. Though I don’t see why that couldn’t apply either. Either way, it’s kinda why I went as deep as I could in the two days that I had on that report.” He’d explain to the history teacher.

Ms. Raifort would nod along to Tristen's response, smiling all the while. "You are very lucky to have such intelligent and hands on parents and they are lucky to have such a diligent son as you." The teacher complimented Tristen. "Either way, you did excellent work on your assignment. Again, good job. If you're ever interested in poking around in additional historical matters come see me. I could always use more hands and eyes." She said, waving Tristen off to his next class.

Home room was next.

“Thank you, Ms. Raifort. Later.” He’d tell the teacher, once again making his way back out the room, this time without any sort of interruptions. He didn’t think that he’d get that kind of glowing praise out of the teacher. He just did what he was told. But hey, if it got good grades and all, why not keep that up? All the same, now he was seemingly home free now. The most he had to worry about was the remainder of Mr. Salvatore’s make-up work which he had plenty of time on. Otherwise, no homework today or did he have anything from yesterday to worry about. This was good. Finally, an afternoon to relax a little. And perhaps plenty of time to play around with that laptop that he got this morning to see what it was all about. He had been anxious to see everything that thing was about all day today. All he had to do was just get through homeroom.

It wasn’t long before he found his way back to Mr. Jacq’s classroom to finish out the day.
