Cady clapped enthusiastically for Mot and Levi as they made their way up to the stage. These two were the impressive dancers from earlier!
"WE ALL GOT HATS! ISN'T THIS GREAT?!" she exclaimed.

Malodore was, truth be told, concentrating a bit more on keeping Riley from crawling under the table - WHAT was so interesting about the table? Jack dolce in un cestino...
And then, suddenly, it's name was being spoken. At volume. As the spotlights swiveled blindingly, Malodore found itself at the center of attention.. with a squirmy illithid attached to it.
"Ah! Ah," the plague doctor squeaked. "Grazie, molto grazie-"
Riley! Riley, get up! They're crowning you King! Royalty! World domination! it babbled, mentally.

"Ruined this?" Taryn asked, her face splitting open in a grin, "You didn't ruin anything! You're very charming." Even his awkwardness was charming, really. How many boils existed that would take collapsing so outwardly calmly? As Taryn built a mountain of soaked napkins, Abigail came around to nudge one around the floor. At least she could be helpful as well.

Mitsu smiled watching the court being announced clapping for those who went on stage. She was rather excited to see Levi and Mot being announced and again when Riley and Mal took the stage. She didn't know Mal really but she at least knew Riley enough to clap for the ghoul enthusiastically. It seemed rather fitting to see them all up there being crowned.

Jericho smiled at the annoucnements. Aside from feeling that MOt and levi deserving it, his best friend had just been crowned king. There was a sense of pride he felt in her for it. And mal to.

Shun just listened partially, not really caring too much about the announcements. Good for them he supposed.

"Okay, that's over," Roch said, heading for the snack table again. "Sorry, Danny, but I gotta get ice for Demi, it's my fault that he ran into a table, and I swear I won't get it anywhere near you. Hey, why don't you go find your date or something?" he said, even though his date was probably still dancing with hers.
He sucked at this stuff, yes, yes he did. "Let's just hope he didn't break anything, last thing he'd want is a trip to see the nurse," he added as he started scooping up ice into the cup again.

... World domination?
Riley's interest in the table dropped away as she turned to look directly into the light. It blinded her enough to make her forget exactly where she was, but the words were still ringing in her ears.
I.. did it? She whispered at Mal in awe.
.. I did it. She breathed out in confirmation, and her eyes slit thin, crowing in victory. She wrapped her arms under Malodore's legs, and stood up while carrying her plague doctor towards the light like some kind of virgin sacrifice.
Once she was close enough to the stage, the light was no longer in her eyes, and she saw Nuk standing on the stage with crowns. While the realization that she had not, in fact, claimed ownership of every living thing, a title of any kind was still happily welcome. She carried Malodore up the steps, and set it down gently on it's feet in front of Nuk.
You may now crown my queen, she pronounced.

Malodore held on as Riley scooped it up yet again, depositing it on the stage in front of absolutely everyone oh Jack! The plague doctor waved one hand and waved shyly at the crowd, then opened its beak in a smile, nodding to the others on the stage with it.
Well. This was unexpected. It had never been a queen before!

The reveal of the prom king and queen earned another cheer from the usually-quiet Baku. It was like she had been given a whole other persona for this night, considering how much fun she was having and all the socializing she was doing. "Congratulations, Riley and Malodore!" She called, letting her camera dangle from her neck as she clapped for them, and then for all the court winners.
With a few more snaps of her camera, she retreated back to the table for now, sitting back down on her seat and smiling at the others. "I think I got some nice pictures," She flipped through her pictures eagerly, "And thank you for the compliment." This was directed to Demi's earlier comment--the one he had given her for her photos before she ran off to take the court pictures. "I'm not sure if you saw this one though, or if you just happened to skip over it..."
Sticking her tongue out from the corner of her mouth, she furrowed her brows and searched for one picture in particular. She immediately lit up upon finding it and zoomed in, turning the camera over for Demi to see. It was...a picture of the hip thrusting line from earlier. And there was Demi, joining in. Kind of.
Unable to help herself, the Baku giggled, a grin finding it's way to her face. "It was a very charming dance."

"Well done," Barth said, as the last of the prom court stepped up to receive their crowns. It wasn't loud enough for the recipients to hear, but the sentiment was the same.
He yawned, stretching.
"That's my neighbor, you know," he said to Lilith.

Nuk made a face at Riley when she demanded he crown her queen, almost making mention that he'd do whatever he damn wanted, but caught himself before he said anything. He was still on stage, he was still representing the Student Council, even if he was QUICKLY starting to lose all the composure and impressiveness he had had at the beginning of his speech. Oh well, work in progress. Stepping up behind Mal, he placed an a rather pretty crown atop It's head, once again pausing when he noticed the hat and scowling a little before he slid it right over top, waving a hand dismissively and mumbling something about 'stupid hats.' Next, he came to Riley, motioning for her to face the audience with a little twirl of his finger before he placed the Pumpkin King crown atop her head.
There was clapping all around, and Nuk stepped up to the mic once again, still clapping, before he motioned towards the group.
"Lets hear it for our Prom Court! And now, if our couples would lead us in their traditional 'First Dance' .... Aislin, music, if you please?"
Extending his arm towards the dance floor, Nuk ushered the newly-appointed Pumpking Court back onto the dance stage, glancing at Ash and rotating a finger towards them, to signify that the spotlight should be on them. And with that, the skinwalker promptly stepped off the side of the stage, once more avoiding the stairs.
OOC: Congratulations everyone! Prom is gonna start wrapping up tomorrow -- you DO NOT have to stop rping, but we'll start getting Chip-things ready and giving out participation chip-numbers and getting the Minipet Auction ready for Friday. The auction will start Thursday at 11:59 PM PST and will run until Friday 11:59 PM PST, unless someone snipes, upon which there will be a snipe guard. I also want to announce that I raffled off the fourth couples-art prize, and the winners are Deacon and Emily! Congrats guys, you don't get to pick who your artist is, but if you could send refs to me, that would be awesome <3
At any rate, I really meant what Nuk said in his announcement -- thanks for making TiH awesome you guys, I really enjoy rping with you all. AND REMEMBER, PLEASE THANK YOUR STAFFERS. ZOO, LIZ, MARU, ETC ALL THOSE PEOPLE ARE AWESOME. Also, if you could look at the special mentions posts in both this thread and the game thread and say thanks to some of those people, that would be awesome too <3 Enjoy the rest of Prom~!

As each winner was announced a spot-light flicked on and swung over to drench each Court Member in bright light for all to see and focus on. When the last name was called Aislin turned up the volume on the music and began to play what would hopefully be an awfully familiar sound to the students.

And suddenly, Marzena was yanked away, along with Vaith, by the overenthusiastic ghoul. The Selkie could only let herself be dragged along, not without a slight roll of the eyes, and gave a little wave of acknowledgement to Demi. She could care less about the booming announcement, although of course, she couldn't help but listen to it.
And then Xiu rushed away to take photos of their Prom winners, or whatever they called them, really. It was tempting to reply with a sarcastic 'Oh, it's been just wonderful' but she held it back. She wasn't even sure if her voice could make it over the announcements and cheering.
She leaned over to see what picture was so interesting, and then promptly wrinkled her nose. "Yes, it is absolutely charming." Marzena remarked, giving Demi a skeptical gaze.

Oh my, how the time had flown! The crowning had drawn most everyone's attention, and Tsetsiliya set her roll onto the plate. She clapped politely for each announced couple, unable to give the enthusiastic cheers that others seemed to be giving seeing as she did not know any of them. However it was no surprise to her that Riley and Malodore were crowned; she could tell just by word of mouth and their activity on Groanspring that they were exceptionally popular. Well, good for them! It got them a nice title and a crown tonight, certainly something to be proud of!
But the poludnica also felt she owed something to the mindflayer she had really only spoken to once (and even then it was through the interweb). The anonymous box had been Riley's idea, and without it, Tsetsiliya would have come to the prom alone, huddling in the corner, or would be back in her room alone. With a slight frown, she set to work figuring something out. Yes, she would definitely have to do something nice for her, because so far, this has been a good night.
A very good night, in fact. One of the best she had had in a long while. The last few formals she had attended here, unfortunately, had blurred together at points into a muddle of embarrassed moments or feelings. But tonight.. tonight was lovely. Perfect.
Almost perfect, anyway.
As the newly-crowned Pumpkin Court swept onto the floor, Tsetsiliya turned towards her two companions. They had lingered long enough on the sidelines.
"Perhaps we are trying a dance now?" she asked with a hopeful smile. Her excitement was likely very obvious, and her cheeks went pink at the thought of it, but her fear of tripping over her two feet had disappeared with Petro's encouragement. She was ready to have fun now!
