"Alright," Azrael said. "I'm just going to hover a little over the ground then so I won't get us in too much trouble," she said as she carefully sat down on her broom, hanging both her legs over one side. She let herself hover just high enough that her feet were only about an inch from the ground, taking in the fresh air as she glided around carefully at a leisurely speed.

Helen was feeling OK now that she knew she wouldn't have to fly too. She didn't like it too much, and preferred being on solid ground. Helen sat in the grass watching Azrael flit around, and she pulled out a choccy bar and started munching on it - Helen was always eating, though her figure fortunately didn't show it.

As Azrael glided around she noticed a tree with just a few apple still intact on it. She flex up just high enough to grab an arm full and made sure they weren't rotten as she floated back down. She took 2 in her hand. She decided to offer 1 of them to Helen as she glided over and placed her feet back on the ground. "I'm surprised I found this many apples, still good considering the weather. Would you like one?," she said as she held an apple out. "I think I'll give the rest of them to the castle's cook."

Lucas found himself sitting out on the grounds for most of Saturday, the cool breeze so relaxing. There weren't many clouds, the ones that were in the sky were all whispy and grey. He took a deep breath and let his thoughts drift and wander. He thought of Fionna and Rhiannon mostly, very little about anything else. He couldn't get it out of his head what Fionna had said about werewolves that day in the library. Had she ust said it to seem humane? Questions exploded around him constantly. Trying to get some solitude, he'd come out here, without is guitar, so he didn't attract any attention if he played it. He sat at the Gryffindor table each morning, afternoon and evening for meals, but he always sat alone. If someone sat near or next to him, he'd be sure not to linger too long. He studied at the back of the library and never remained in the common room for longer than a few minutes time anymore.

Fact is, he was scared. If he got close to people, like he wanted, they'd find out. He knew how cruel the world could be, Fionna's kindness had surprised him, but not all people were like that. Rhiannon proved that. Just the thought of her made him absentmindedly rub his mouth on his sleeve as if to get a bitter taste off. Elbows in the ground, hands behind his back, he just lay in the grass under the beech tree, the sun warming his cheeks when it wasn't covered by clouds.

Fionna really needed some fresh air. She had been stuck inside the past few days doing work and trying to catch up from the few days she missed recovering. The work was starting to get a lot harder as teachers began to load them with more work to prepare them for their OWLs. It was stressing her out to be honest and she still wasn't completely over the whole Rhi situation.

She had finally found some free time, or made it by tossing aside her work into her bag and stomping down onto the grounds. She took a deep breathe before surveying her surroundings. What caught her eye was a certain boy laying in a sun patch by a beech tree. Fionna's lips curved up into a smile as she headed off into his direction.

She stood over him so that her body blocked the sunlight with her shadow and with a huge grin on her face she said, "Enjoying yourself?" She chuckled slightly.

Lucas opened his eyes when he no longer felt the warm sun on his face and nearly jumped out of his skin when Fionna's voice rang overhead. Then he grinned and sat up and looked at her.
"Hahah yeah."

It was a bit awkward for her to find him like this, him now kneeling smiling up at her, he must look so stupid. He leaned against the beech tree so he looked a bit more relaxed and recovered himself, hopefully not looking too foolish. Damn...maybe he should just go inside now...then again, he wasn't sure how long he could keep this up, fleeing from being sociable. He'd have to chat with her eventually, he didn't want their friendship to end. Then again...maybe it should? He knew he didn't want to just remain friends with her, he liked her too much and it was too confusing to be around her. But...how could he just let go of her? He certainly hadn't done it successfully last time, how would he manage now? But they couldn't be more, or she'd know for sure, she'd found out way too easy.

"So how's studying going?"
He knew fifth years were busy studying for the O.W.Ls. Maybe if he could stay on this boring subject, she'd leave? Then they'd be separate...just like his mum always wanted.

Fionna giggled when Lucas jumped. It was pretty funny. She hadn't known if she would startle him or not but it sure was funny that she had. She threw her bag down and then sat down in the grass leaning back on her arms. This was a good change from the library or the crowded common room.

A smile was still displayed on Fionna's lips as she said, "Oh it's going alright. Getting a little overloaded and just really needed a break." Her studies on top of everything else was getting hard to manage. "It'll probably only get worse." She added knowing that the closer they came to the OWLs the more work they would be getting.

She was already starting to think ahead. Some of her extreme thoughts from lack of sleep and major stress and involved dropping quidditch or prefect duties, but she told herself she was being silly and that she would be stupid to do so. Besides it wouldn't look good on an application to have dropped something. No, she would definetely follow though.

His heart sank a bit when she tossed her bag on the ground, she was going to be here a while. He knew how tired she must be, what with the quidditch captaincy, prefect duties, and now these tests.

"The tests are definitely stressful." He said, remembering how he took them last year. "Dunno if I really got the O.W.L tests though, just the huge tests for each subject at home. Probably a bit different."

He looked at her laying on the grass, her hair all loose and bright. He looked away determinedly, staring back up at the sky. The whisps of cloud were thinning a bit and he squinted as the sun got in his eyes and illuminated his grey hair. Well...blond-grey, but it was more grey-blond lately. He wondered if the Wolfsbane potion had those side-effects, trying to think of excuses for the quickly-aging hair. At least his skin wasn't changing, it was just his hair and eyes. Eyes were the window to the soul apparently, and he kinda knew how true that was now.

Fionna sighed and said, "Probably. They make them seem like such a huge deal and the reality is that they are. You've got NEWTs next year which are even more important. I sometimes wish I could go back to second year. So much fun and relaxing back then." Second year had been glorious. She had made the quidditch team that year and she still wasn't taking that many classes. Plus, she wasn't a prefect and didn't have all the drama in her life that had been happening.

Fionna decided to change the topic a bit and said, "So Hogsmeaded trip is in about two weeks. Still plan on me showing you around?" She smiled. She couldn't wait to go into Hogsmeade with Lucas. It would be so much fun. SHowing him around, joking, and goofing off. She couldn't wait. It was so weird to think that only last week she was still pissed at Lucas and wouldn't have considered doing any of this with him.

Lucas bit his tongue a bit. He hated all his years, first, second third...whatever. All of them he spent trapped in his house. Just before first year he'd gotten the bite, so it basically destined none of his years to be enjoyable. Honestly, his mother was horrible at teaching at NEWT, such an advanced level, so that also may have been why he was bumped up to Hogwarts and thrown unceremoniously from their lives.

He landed back on earth at the word Hogsmeade. Ugh. He still remembered how Lillian had needed to practically force the permission form signature out of them. Still, he wanted to go so badly...and with Fionna...how could he resist?
"For sure." He said genuinely smiling and nodding.
Stupid stupid stupid stupid...
It was a bit weird to think that his dreams of going there with her were actually going to happen. For once, his condition wasn't going to get in the way, the trip was the week after he transformed, he was going to enjoy himself and have a good day without a doubt. Right? Oh universe don't argue with me now, just give me this one day he begged silently.

Fionna smiled glad that he was still going to go to hogsmeade with her. SHe knew exactly what they would do. So many choices, but they would definetely get buterbeer, go to all the shops, buy some stuff, and maybe even the shrieking shack sicne Lucas seemed so interested in that when they had talked about that the first time.

Fiona fiddled with the grass for a few moments; picking at it. It gave her hands something to do. Her father used to call her a lawnmower because whenever she was on the grass she would pick at it and pull it out of the ground. She smiled at the memory.

Lucas seemed to be oddly quiet and seclusive today. He wasn't helping the conversations flow as usual and she was having trouble doing it on her own. Why was he acting like this lately? He seemed to be getting distant from everybody. She wanted to get closer to him not farther away. Fionna was realizing she liked Lucas as more than just a friend. Now that Caiden and her were friends she was able to move forward and wanted this to work out with him and noone else.

Lucas felt a pang of guilt when he saw her face a bit downcast as she picked up grass. He knew he was probably confusing her...they'd been so friendly and got along so well the last time they were here and even when they had talked about Rhiannon, he'd hugged her and held her for a little while...now he was being distant. But he just had to be, it wouldn't be wise to get closer than he already was...or was he already too close beyond repair? He took a deep breath and decided a bit of chit-chat couldn't really hurt...

"So how did that creature-monster essay go in Defense Against the Dark Arts?"
He asked, that being the one thing that stuck out in his mind most when they last talked.
He wondered for a moment if she'd written it about werewolves but thought it would be really idiotic if he asked. He didn't want to bring up that subject too much...still, he was seriously knowledgeable about it. The werewolves anyways, not about many other magical creatures like Rhi was. He didn't shudder but it was a close thing, thinking of where she was now.

FIonna looked back at Lucas when he spoke glad that he had said something. A small smile reappeared on her face and she responded, "Oh it went well. I ended up doing it on vampires even though I don't like them." She hadn't enjoyed some parts of the reading, but figured she should probably read up more on them since they were the monster she knew least about. "I couildn't help but read the werewolf section when I got the time though. It was just too tempting to resist." She smiled a little guiltily. She had read it while she probably should have been doing a different assingment.

Fionna continued to tear apart the grass even though she wasn't looking at it. It was soothing and an impulse she couldn;t resist. "I really wish winter wouldn't come. I'm going to miss sitting on the grounds." She said as a gust of wind caused her to shiver a bit. Soon it would be too cold to sit out on the grounds.

Lucas relaxed when she said she did it on Vampires, then stiffened when she said werewolves. Was there no break? No plain and simple just...conversation they could have now, where he didn't want to just dive in and tell her everything?
"Yep...werewolves are fascinating." He mumbled a bit gloomily.

He seized upon the topic of the seasons and held onto it like a drowning man would a life ring.
"Agreed." He said quickly. "Winter is my least favorite season by far. I hate the snow...but, when it's over, spring'll be here and thank god for that."
He hated getting almost buried in the snow, hating nearly freezing to death. Then he noticed her shiver.
"Here." He said, taking off his coat. "I don't need it."
That much was true, he really didn't feel all that cold yet. Plus his 'chivalry' if that's what you called it might take her mind off his mutterings about werewolves and how much he hated snow.

Fionna noticed Lucas' slight change in stature. She couldn't help but wonder what that was all about. it was a wonder how Fionna was blind-sighted by all the signs given to her connected to Lucas' furry-little problem. She still doesn't have a clue about it. She elected to not respond about the werewolf comment because of what she had observed.

Fionna agreed completely. "Winter is way too cold. I get cold so easily. I think I might have bad circulation which may contribute to that." She said recalling something from some books she read about the body. 'Plus, it's dreadful weather to play quidditch in." She said with a small crooked grin.

Fionna froze slightly as Lucas gave her his jacket. It was basically a deja vu feeling. Caiden had always done the exact same thing whenever he saw her shiver or get goosebumps. Fionna quickly recovered though and said, "Thanks." and put on a smile for good measure.
