Tommy strained his eyes in the nearing darkness, sending out wave after wave of echolocation. Just what the hell was that...er...who? Is that a beak? Christ...don't think I've met an avian before... Tommy leaned his maw in a little closer toward the water. That voice...he sounded near panicked...Christ, I probably scared him.
"Ah...hi? Sorry...I um...I didn't mean to startle you. I heard you in the river 'n...well...Yeah, sorry. I...I'm Tommy, by the way."

"Mah...Mahshah." Marshall said, clearing his throat, his speech inpediment coming back. He wasn't sure why he was scared; it was probably just the combined shock of being asleep for several months and then being out in the dark.
"Erm...S-Sorry. Its Marshall. Nice to meet you, Tommy..."

Tommy frowned a bit as he leaned back onto his haunches, using his knuckles to stabilize himself. ...do I look that bad? Christ, this was a bad idea... He took a step back, hoping to shroud his features in the dark. All the while, he tried to figure out just what this Marshall was. The bat-man sighed and shook his head. "Yeah, sorry 'bout that. I was just getting some fresh air...didn't think I've heard you around before...thought I may introduce myself."
"But um...you alright, man?"

Marshall sighed, trying to clear his head, "Yeah...Yeah, I'm fine. A little freaked out about being...Gone for a couple of months. But I'm good. Kinda. Kind out here for the same reason, y'know? Heh heh..." Marshall sighed, rubbing the back of his neck.

Tommy frowned a bit...this guy didn't know yet? Goddamn, I wonder if everyone else was like this too? I mean...that had to have just been a joke...right? A horrible...horrible joke. It was Sabin, afterall.

Marshall blinked, his green eyes saying one thing almost too clearly: ...What?
"...April...Fools...YOU MEAN THAT ENTIRE ******** THING WAS AN APRIL FOOLS JOKE?!" Marshall yelled, feeling like his head was going to explode and there would be penguin brain matter all over the place. "WHA AH BAHNCH HAF--" the following sentence has been removed, because none of us wish to hear this penguin's apparent potty mouth.
After a good three minutes of nothing but profanity, Marshall found himself supporting himself against a tree with his hand, clutching his chest and gasping for air.
This...This sucks!

Tommy just blinked as Marshall went on a rampage. It was then that he realized just what he was...a penguin...holy s**t. One part of Tommy's mind just burst out with maniacle laughter while the rest of him wanted to start sobbing. Instead, he just stood there with a dumb look on his face. "I...um...yeah," he said, not knowing really how to respond to that. Though Tommy was rather impressed with the penguin's bredth of cursing.
"I mean...nothing definate...but knowing the people who run this place...and the fact that the last day any of us remember is March 31st...it makes a lot of sense."
"Well...as much sense as anything around here can make."

"It makes perfect sense! Stupid piles of dog crap...Probably thought it would be good for a giggle. Erg...I can't frigign' believe I fell for it. I mean, c'mon! Half a year! I would've changed! And of course the DVD didn't have any dust on it..Erg...DAMN!" Marshall said, yelling 'Damn' in a melodramatic way.
"Sorry...But, thank you Tommy..." Marshall said, rubbing the back of his neck with a laugh, "You saved me from a year of being all depressed and stuff..."

The bat-man just continued to watch as Marshall vented all of his pent-up dispair. He wasn't sure what to think though...be relieved that he was able to help someone out? Or still have an insane urge to burst out laughing now that the bat-man has finally met the penguin...

"Maaaaan...I must be retarded. Of course. I mean...Its not even colder! Hell, if any thing its warmer than what it was last week!" Marshall said, squeezing that last little bit of angst out before he got on with his life.
"Any way...I meant it when I said thanks, Tommy." The penguin man said, holding out his hand. He couldn't see him all that good, but could still tell he was pretty far along his transformation, not unlike himself.
"What are ya, any way?" Marshall asked, slowly returning to his childish, overly-blunt self.

Tommy couldn't help but grin at his first comment. Although he tried not to show off his razor-like fangs, it was difficult to hide them. "Just passin' on the word," he said as he eyed Marshall's flipper-hand. He froze for a moment in frightened indecision. The idea of shaking someone's hand was lost to Tommy for a second...he often found himself not even seeing his wings as they once were anymore.
His grin faultered a bit...but then, with no little effort on his part, he reached out with his right wing/hand to shake Marshall's...making sure his fingers were pointed down and away from the penguin.
"Hmm? Oh...um...A ah...a bat," he said, haltingly. He didn't want to tag on the other part...but...this guy seemed understanding...right? "A vampire bat."

"A vampire bat? Heh, not that bad...Y'know, I was actually the Penguin last Halloween." Marshall chuckled. Gaius didn't get the joke, so he certainly didn't expect this Tommy character to get it.
Shaking hands (or Wings and Flippers as the case may be) was much more awkward than Marshall expected it to be, the long fingers and the lack of fingers making things...strange at the very least.

"Heh...don't think either of us are equipped for shaking hand anymore...maybe a high-five would be more appropriate nowadays, eh?" he said with a joking grin. Sure...it was stupid, but making light of the situation always made him feel a little better.
"Eh...besides the fact that I only have a single choice in meals now...nah, I guess not that bad." He blinked though as Marshall finished his sentence and immediately began cracking up, laughing. "Oh Christ, seriously? Can't believe I didn't see that! I just couldn't bring myself to put on a bat-man costume...you've got balls, Marshall," he said, still with a large grin on his face as he he mentally pictured the two of them battling it out in costumes.

"Nyeheheheh..." Marshall replied, in his best Penguin impersonation. Which, mind you, still sounded like a cross between Anatoli and a sleazy car dealer. However, if you asked him, he sounded dead-on.

Tommy couldn't help but grin at that, having a flashback of the really old Adam West batman. "Somedays you just can't get rid of a bomb..." he muttered out before looking back to Marshall. "Really? Goddamn..." he said while shaking his head, "But yeah, I went as Jason Vorhees from Friday the 13th."
He grinned for a moment as he remembered that...the first time he drank blood while in his right mind too...his grin soon died.
