Walt found himself walking back to the caves. Boone was with Claire somewhere, with th elittle baby. Jack had been seen going off with Sun. He sighed. Where was his dad? "dad!" He shouted. His dad had been aroudn the beach a minute ago, now he was no where to be seen.

Sun and Jack walked onto the beach and headed for the fire. Sun could sense Jack's uneasiness. She hesitantly pulled away to give him some space. When they got closer to the campfire, Sun stepped away from Jack, smiling, but stayed near him. She knew that neither of them were ready for that kind of attention.
"Thank you for your assistance, Jack," Sun said lightly.
The two of them joined the queue around the campfire. The survivors were all chatting happily and Sun didn't want to interrupt any of their conversations. She sat on the sand and and stretched her legs out in front of her. She motioned for Jack to sit, too.

"No problem, Sun..." Jack sat next to Sun, he stared at the fire for a moment, but his eyes wandered back over to her. He really need to think about what he need to do, and he knew sitting here wasn't going to do it. He quietly stood up and headed towards the beach shore.

Sun watched Jack walk away. She decided to give him some room to think alone for a while. Hopefully he could find answers in the ocean's depths, even if she couldn't. Sun turned to look back at the fire, looking around at the other survivors all immersed in their conversations. She heard a voice in the distance. It was Walt, wandering around in the jungle. He was looking for Michael. Sun herself wondered where the man had gotten to. She hadn't seen either him or Jin in a while. They were probably gathering materials for the raft. Sun stood up and limped over to the edge of the jungle.
"Walt," she called.
It would be safer for him on the beach. At least she would have him to take her mind off of Jack for a while. Sun waited at the edge of the jungle for Walt and stared at Jack walking along the shore in the meantime.

Jack slowly walked along the edge of the water, the very water that seperated them from their pasts... He felt sick that he was unable to make a decision about Sun. His head was saying one thing and his heart and conscience were saying something completely different. He cursed softly letting the waves wash his words out to the unknown.

((o.O that was insanely poetic! Kiyo, I must praise you. 3nodding ))
Sun watched Jack as he searched for meaning in the depths of the ocean. The very same ocean that had almost killed Sun earlier in the day. The very same ocean she was sure she wouldn't be going near for a while. Sun leaned against a tree, taking the weight off of her injured foot as she waited for Walt to appear.
((Oh P_o_W... where are you..? LOL))

((Why thank you! whee )) As Jack stared out into the empty horizon, he slowly came to the realization that this decision wasn't one he could make in an instant...it would have to come over time. He glanced back at the fire and noticed Sun wasn't there anymore. He instead saw her standing near the line of trees. He walked up towards her slowly.

Sun glanced into the jungle and decided that Walt wasn't going to give up that easily on finding Michael. As long as he didn't wander off too far, he would be fine. It was broad daylight. Sun turned around to walk back over to the fire when she noticed Jack walking towards her. She smiled wanly as he approached, still leaning against the tree.
((I'm going out shopping, I'll be back in an hour-ish! I just have to pick up a pair of scrubs. I'm volunteering in the ER at the hospital by my house and learned that wearing my own clothes to work isn't safe after spilling some betadine. I'll be back soon!))

((I'm back! woo hoo!))
Sun smiled at Jack's rather cheesy attempt at humor. She took the arm that he offered and leaned against him once again.
"How about the waterfall, or the garden?" Sun asked lightly.
Suddenly the awkwardness between them seemed to disperse somewhat considerably...

Jack smiled, " Well we'll head towards the caves and if you want to stop in the garden we can." Jack slowly walked down the path with Sun.

Sun agreed with a nod. They slowly ambled through the jungle, aimlessly. It was nice to just enjoy the companionable silence for a while. Soon the two of them reached the garden and Sun pulled away from Jack to sit on a soft patch of grass in the shade of a guava tree.
"I come to the garden when I need to get away. Everyone needs somewhere they can go to forget about the world for a little while. What is your sanctuary, Jack?" Sun asked lightly.
She wondered if the man in front of her ever took a moment out of his busy and hectic life to slow down and watch the scenery as it flew by. He was a no nonsense man, Sun knew, but everyone needed time away from reality. Without time away came burn out, which Jack looked dangerously close to sometimes.

Jack thought about it for a moment, the truth was he didn't have a place like that for him. "Well sometimes I sit by the waterfall, but other then that no...I feel like I don't have the time too..." Jack frowned and looked down the path. "I am afraid if I take the time to relax...something terrible will happen..."

Sun understood his fear. So much had happened on the island in such a short span of time that it was hard not to be afraid. Sun's heart went out to Jack.
"You have to take time to relax, Jack. Otherwise, if something does happen to someone you might not be in any condition to help," Sun said wisely.
She looked up at where Jack stood, leaning against a tree beside her. He was cool on the outside but there was inner chaos behind his stoicism.
"There is much sadness in your eyes, Jack. Much sorrow, emotion. Why don't you tell me what is bothering you. It might help," Sun suggested.
She looked up at him as he considered her offer. Sun realized then that Jack, despite being a hero to all of them, was only human. Sometimes he needed a hero, too. It disheartened her to think that Jack had to bear all of his burdens without ever relying on anyone. Sun desperately wanted him to open up to her.
