Nightmare got in Ivy's face "I'm not making this hard, you are. Why do you have to compare me to the other heroes and psychos? I don't care what they've done or how long they've stayed in college. Ivy gave a mix of childish growl and shriek. "I'm NOT comparing you to other people! I'm giving you examples! You are making this difficult?! Is it so terrible for me to want you to be educated and have a future full of opportunities?!" She cupped his cheeks dramatically and shook his face softly. "Don't you think your mother would have wanted you to get a college education?" He sure seemed to have the motivation to cause her to prematurely wrinkle.

Nightmare took Ivy's hands off his face "you are, you're comparing me to the heroes and villains. I have an education and I have the potential to do whatever the hell I want, I could destroy Gotham if I set my mind to it, or build a criminal empire, or I could just watch it pass through time." Nightmare's red and yellow eyes looked into Ivy's "and my mother would want me to do whatever made me happy, but unfortunately she's dead, so you'll have to do."
