This theory involves that Zetsu is in love with himself. Or better yet, his other personality.
The black side is dominant, and plays the male role. Where the white side, is the female. Their relationship is passionate and steamy. Everytime his flytraps close, you know he is having personal time with himself.
The reason Zetsu joined the Akatsuki, is because he wanted one of their rings. The ultimate token of love to his other self. He doesn't share the Akatsuki's other goals, so he just scouts a bit.
Zetsu often writes poems for himself, but is bad at delivering them, thus we never really get a chance to see it. One of the reasons he is so close to Tobi, is because he can't reproduce himself. He can perform auto-felattio because he's a plant and very flexible/pliable like some plant stems.But he can't get pregnant. Thus Tobi is his "good boy" son.
