It's not my fault the class lasts until 9:40, and I live half an hour away...

Lab was fun today, but so exhausting...And to make matters worse at the end of the day I was expected to take blood from someone, and we BOTH chickened out...

Now I feel like I fail at Hematology, even if I AM enjoying it. I mean, what good am I if I can't even do something like take blood from someone?

They're going to want me to do bloodwork when I go on my clinical. And I can't even go to my clinical until I pass all my competencies, which includes phlebotomy. If I can't take blood from someone, what on Earth am I going to do? It will be four years down the drain.

I think what really shook me up was that the prof told me I was holding the needle incorrectly. I'm left handed. I'm going to do everything opposite from everyone else. I told her that. But I have to do it the right way. I can't anchor the vein and insert the needle with the same hand...And I can't trust my right hand to do anything but stay in one position...

Ukyo, you can do it. you cant let yourself get freaked out about it. just remember, you dont do anyone any good when your freaking out. all you have to do is stick em with the needle.

I tried taking blood from another girl in my class today. I got the needle in but I got no blood from it. It wasn't a competency so that was no big deal. My prof says I have very even hands, so the experience wasn't TOO bad I guess. And I didn't move the needle at all when it was in my friend's arm either. I was pretty proud of myself there, even if I got nothing. So all in all, it was an educational experience. I have a funny feeling I'm going to have to take that guy's blood again; the guy I first siphoned.
