Ah good, just let me look at the thread and I have been itching to get back into the FFA... has been a while since I have had a group raid.

There's a need to distinguish between storyline evolution and character conception evolution, though. My first version of a character is always horrible, based off some good ability idea in my head and then run constantly against weak enemies in my head to the point where the character is reinforced strongly in my mind, gigantic flaws and all. Thus the first time I use the character in RP, I observe carefully how much trouble I had coping with the situation. Afterwards, I reinvent the character to a more realistic design, changing it as needed and even retroactively rewriting story if need be. Character changes made during that first RP (say, the fresh character, lacking in melee ability, picks up and enchants a sword), however, almost always stick with the character in future versions, because they were born of necessity and correct issues which are a product of character creation rather than of storyline.

I can't think of more than two or three people who can really take on my best characters when I'm at my peak, so why worry? You and Tac, pretty much. Hell, half my first round opponents disqualified themselves out of stupidity.

Gel still has that old equipment, actually. I just don't like it very much, as the antimagic handicaps current Gel too much, it drops maneuverability below levels I'm mentally comfortable with, and many of the attributes Gel had when he recieved it have since been swept under the rug.
