The Great Cave Adventure

Cold, wet, tired, and lost, in the short time that they had been in this cave (though he had lost track of time as it were without true sunlight), Rage had begun to get antsy. On the plus side, they weren't dead, but on the negative side, nothing even remotely interesting had happened. Though he'd never admit it to himself, he was sure that this would at least give him some sort of lead on--

Tha-thunk. Tha-thunk. Tha...

Time slowed down for a split second, his head turning as far as it would go before his shoulders shifted to accommodate. What the bleeding hell was that thing?!

In the time it took three others to spout off their one-liners, Rage had already made a rather gallant charge at the huge monster, making a short hop and delivering a hard spin kick to one of it's boulder-like knees.

Assuming the golem didn't retaliate instantly, he'd be frozen in place, his foot against the creature, glad that he was facing away from the others - else they see the tiny tears welling up in his eyes at the immense pain that had just roared through his foot and straight up his shin.

... ouch....
PostPosted: Sat Apr 11, 2009 7:30 pm

The amazing thing wasn't that the golem didn't react to Rage. No, that was the opposite of a surprise. In a contest of legs Rage would no win, Rage would barely place second. The golem just looked down on him. The suprise was it didn't take a hostile reaction in return. Rather the stones would shift until it was once again looking at athan.

"fOLLOW IF YOU WISH." The voice came with no movement, it came from deep within the stone beast. Its inflections were in the wrong places, it was as if it only understood the one to one connection of these words. These sounds, in the right order, convey a meaning. That was the beginning and end of it. Conversation was out of the order, hidden meanings impossible. Perhaps this creature had some better way to communicate.

It would move past them, and it would move like a mountain. The fact that it was giving everyone a moment to move was a courtesy. It would not dance around the adventures, it would move through them if need be. It would walk them towards the...

The walls were getting even cleaner. Someone was trying to suss out whatever these walls said. It was becoming even more clear that deep within this cave there was something artificialy made.

Then they burst into a strange artifical purple light. The hall opened up into a large chamber, there were now ruins. Makeshift buildings colapsed, and rooms carved into the very walls. Stones were inset into the walls that emited a soft purple light, the walls were still carved with a series of symbols. The golem however kept moving forward through this strange scene. It didn't seem to be a domestic setup. Didn't have the telltale streets, markets, signs of life. No this was set up for a purpose. Hidden away.

The golem moved forward.

There were voices.

"Sounds like the big guy is coming back boss."

"Hrmn... Yes. It does.

Those sounds were growing so much louder that the voices were almost drowned out. But the fact of the matter was they were familiar to anyone who dreamt. Crisp. One was clearly the man that Athan was seeking... The other was familiar, but just barely, there was some change to it. But it seemed so familiar.

The golem would turn another corner, into another dark hallway. Pitch black save for their light sources. There was an end to this tunnel. It pulsed faint light. Bright on the KhizzzzzzHiiiiit, dull on the Thump. The adventurer's would find themselves walking toward that light. And when they emerged... Well if the first reveal was intriguing, this was downright amazing. It was a very very large tunnel. At Meters and meters high, wide, and streching out long into the darkness. And all strewn about this tunnel were the husks of strange machines. Part crystiline, part ungaian stone, and part metallic. These husks were only hinted to have existed on a place far far away from here. A place that didn't exist anymore.

They would walk through this graveyard, walking towards the pulsing light. As they walked closer they would see what the sound was. Miniature golems were hammering on some piece of tecnology, sending energy sparks into it. Changing it. It didn't look like anything, but it was about the size of a small yacht, and anyone with somewhat of a background in machines would guess from it's shape that it had a similar function. Strangely some of its pieces floated free in the air, trapped in an orbit around the main body. That said, the closer that they got the clearer it became that this thing was unfinished.

And then the closer they got the closer they could see a figure. A figure in a cloak completely covering one side, a figure with a book precariously balanced on one knee while it wrote. The figure that they were here for.

That wasn't the response Athan had expected. Both on Rage and the golem's part. The lack of retaliation on the construct's end caused Athan to relinquish his grip on his sword, allowing gravity to shift the weapon back into place. Athan wasn't used to getting out of the way of things, but for once he made an exception, pressing himself against a wall so that he didn't get smashed into it by an errant leg. Once the golem passed, Athan shot a quick glare in Rage's direction, no words were needed, since anyone should have been able to guess that their odds of successfully fighting the giant rock monster in such an environment were somewhere between slim and none.

Athan fell in line silently behind the construct, but where he came up short on speech, his eyes were all over the place. First the walls smoothed out, and the sudden addition of light temporarily blinded Athan compared to the small motes of light his partners had provided. His eyes adjusted quickly to the sudden shift, and he went back to his observation.

What...

A hand reached out, running along the side of the hallway, trying to get a feel for the architecture despite his complete lack of education concerning such things.

...is this for?

It was like this passage was built for no other purpose than transportation. No housing, no movement, just the steady steps of the golem and the growing noise of whatever they were heading towards. His attention was so focused on the symbols he was walking past that he almost missed the voices. While he may not have heard what they said, he definetly heard a familiar sounding voice.

Funny. Never thought it would be this easy.

'Easy' wasn't quite the right term. The first good thing to happen was running into the golem, and only then because of the fortunate reduction in the thing's temper. The sudden darkness shifted back to light and Athan first thought the breadth of the tunnel was a hallucination. The size alone was enough to impress him, but then he caught notice of the machines. Or, more precisely, what had at one point been machines. They were like none he had ever seen before, yet part of him tried to reason that they were familiar.

They left the boneyard, only to come face to face with some sort of vessel. What its purpose was or how it functioned was well beyond Athan's understanding, and given all the time in the world he would probably never be able to decipher it on his own.

But that fell by the wayside when he caught sight of his quarry. If it were possible, Athan edged his way ahead of the golem.

"I hope going through all the trouble to find you was worth it."

"Follow if you wish."

So it was concluded that this thing wasn't here to harm them. Since it was holding the packages that they delivered, it was probably just a busboy. A giant stone busboy at that. Ruby didn't want to try to stop it from continuing forward, so he moved to the side so that its heavy thudded steps could carry it on down the tunnel, only for them to follow it. As usual, Ruby would stick to the back, having neither words to say nor actions to present.

The walls were interesting. He had been to many exotic and strange places before, so to him, all of these decorations looked like your average ruin placements, created by some ancient civilization or buried here after some unknown event. He had no intention of trying to examine it like a scholar of the old world would. His only attention was on wondering what they were going to arrive at at the end of the tunnel, as the sound of voices seemed to carry far enough for them to hear. When their eyes met the new room that was under much activity, with the sound of manufacturing going on, he had to admit, he was impressed. Floating items, an unknown large thing, it all was pretty much a new sight to him.

Then the cloaked man came into view, with another figure holding a book, knelt. Ruby focused on them, though his eyes seemed to squint as his fingers continued to rub the small pearls, trying to detect what type of vibes these guys were giving off. Good vibes, evil vibes, good intentions, bad intentions, the usual empathy that a monk of the high order would sense for. Ruby wasn't as great at this awareness as his superiors who trained him, but he could at least get a basic sense of things like this.

Silver Alexander

Anxious Seeker

PostPosted: Tue Apr 14, 2009 12:31 pm

"What the-"

Silver danced about the monstrosity as it became obvious it would not do the same, quickly moving to evade the heavy stone juggernaut's legs, switching position and direction several times before finally managing to wind up safely behind it. It appeared that his decision to not attack immediately had been at least somewhat right, though uncharacteristic of him, as the Thing seemed friendly enough, if not indifferent toward them. Also, he figured he could probably kick at least as hard as Rage, and that didn't look like it was nearly enough to even phase the it. Still, as the construct slowly lumbered down the tunnel away from them, Silver would smirk, turning back to Rage with a grin, and thumbing off in the direction of the creature.

"I think we coulda taken it."

Without even waiting for a response, he would turn back around and sprint down the tunnel after their party leader, and their new "guide", as the Golem seemed to have a better idea where they were going than any of them. As they entered the large chamber ahead, a soft purple glow washing over them, Silver would stand at the entrance a moment, taking in the scene before them. With sufficient light now present, he would shake his hand about in the air violently, the platinum flames on it extinguishing as if he'd shaken them off. As the Golem, Athan, and likely the others, would slowly trudge through the room, Silver would scurry about, getting right up on the points of interest, or at least, interesting to him, and examine them closely. The buildings, the purple light stones, the symbols, everything. This would lead to him randomly sprinting far ahead, or falling behind at various points, but overall, he managed to keep up.

What was all this stuff? Had it been there a long time? Was it the remnants of the previous expeditions? Before he could speak up to say or ask anything out loud, voices could suddenly be heard, if just barely, over the other noises of the cave. He glanced ahead, then at Athan for any sort of reaction, unsure what they were going to do.

As they trekked on, being swallowed by darkness once more, Silver would again opt to provide some light of his own, raising a hand and snapping his fingers, sparking a small silvery flame into existence, this time just above his hand, floating in the air, like a lighter. There didn't seem to be anything in this hallway, but that didn't mean he wanted to go stomping around in the dark, especially when following a huge hulk of rock ready to squish you at a moment's notice.

Upon entering the new tunnel, Silver's eyes would grow wide again, much like they had after first setting eyes on their large, stony companion.

"Woah..."

Silver would immediately begin scuttling about at his own pace again, taking his light source with him, holding it up to each and every "machine" they came to to get a good look at it. He didn't know what the hell this stuff was, but new and interesting things were always exciting to Silver, especially if they were cool or ancient looking. As they came to the next area, he could hardly contain himself as the sources of the noises were finally revealed.

But instead of running ahead, he actually ran back to the group. His excitement apparent with a big, starry-eyed grin on his face, Silver glanced about trying to figure out how he could get a better view. Then it hit him. With a few quick, short hops, sneakered feet catching bits of floating stone, Silver would suddenly be riding the golem, standing over it to get a view of the construction going on from a higher vantage point. The tunnel was big enough now, and the thing seemed pretty strong, so it would probably work, right? Of course, unless it had any sort or defense mechanisms or the energies that tethered it together didn't like that. At any rate, his fun would be interrupted by a voice from below/ahead.

Athan
"I hope going through all the trouble to find you was worth it."

Standing atop his Rocky Ride, and once again striking a dramatic pose, Silver would point down at Athan and his quarry.

"YEAH!"

He probably thought it made him look cool and imposing. It more likely just made him look foolish.

While everyone gave the golem the liberty of moving out of it's way before they were crushed to death, Rage had a much more brilliant plan. Sit against the wall and nurse his foot for a few minutes as everyone else decided to take off without him. What the hell was he thinking, anyways? Now that he had time to sit and reflect upon it, he didn't know either.

Athan's imposing glare right after didn't help things. "Strong as you think you are my a**," he muttered, slipping off his shoe to make sure that he still actually had a foot, much less a blob of crushed bones and muscle. "Wiggle... your big toe...."

One Tarantino-esque scene and self-reflecting monologue later, he was following the heat trails of his partners, vague use of the term it was. These caves were not unlike the catacombs, and for all he knew MINOTAUR was hiding behind the wall, ready to pounce out at him the moment he walked by. But he didn't have to worry about things like that, did he?

"..."

Best not to think about it. Besides, last time he was in a place like this he was suffering from a mild neurosis also known as "being completely insane," so at least he was several steps ahead of the game this time. Before long, he had managed to follow the trail right up to the entrance (exit?) to the cavern, where he made out several voices. The first was Athan. The second he had no recollection of. And the third was... that tinsel-head.

Walking into the chamber for Rage had the effect of walking into Gambino's air-conditioned casino on a hot, hot day. For a second, the warrior looked as though they were punched in the nose before quickly recovering, slipping the dark hood over green hair, and finally catching up with the rest at a short jog that slowed into a walk. And there the now-cloaked (again) figure stood, arms crossed into the sleeves of the cloak as if Rage was the only one that had any issues with the relative coolness of the cave.

While everyone else was storming ahead to their answers- well, Athan was, these other two were sorta tagging along because they were bored as far as he could tell from a glance- and Rage was nursing a foot and getting the goosebumps, Kael was growing ever more comfortable as he went from the wonderful chill of going sweat covered from desert to cool to simply being used to the cool. One for cool weather anyway, things were getting to be just right, and minus the old distraction he seemed to be sinking into a new one.

With the gloves on he couldn't feel it as well as he'd have liked to, but his hand traced the oddities on the wall as he followed after the golem, half lost in thought. There were a lot of things about where they were going he was curious about, about the guy he was here to see. About what sort of answers he might get, and if he'd like them... if he'd be able to live with them.

The only reason he had faith was because of his friend. He just felt the kid meant well. He was fairly positive someone was trying to set him up on their line of pawns, and that pissed him off- scared him too.

This time though, it might be worth suffering it through.

The anticipation and what he couldn't say whether to call reflection or his avoiding really facing what he was feeling had him half unawares until they came near the light, and it came off almost blinding, stepping in, even being dull compared to the desert. He peered around for a moment, and his mind almost went blank. He hardly noticed the marks he should have vaguely recognized as his brain clocked into overhaul trying to figure out the number of different alien machines laying before them in various states of repair, or lack there of. The room was huge and full of them, simply like they were being yanked out of the walls, cleaned, and cast aside to get to the next.

Huge... and they're everywhere. Was this some kind of hangar?

He had to consciously resist the urge to walk up and lay a hand on one to inspect it. As it was he practically marveled at them all as he walked through, more and more distracted until he entirely stopped in his tracks, staring at the golems alike this one repairing a structure... and beside it, it had orbiting bits just like they did.

These...

They're the same, just in different shape.

It was like something out of a horror movie, robots creating more robots which would help them create more robots, acting autonomously. Only instead of afraid he was fascinated. These weren't some foreign race or magical life forms. These were living machines. Of magic, still, he thought, but all of the sudden they weren't glowey, frightening things without logical explanation. No, they were rules and laws and logic, and magic fit in like a new principle of physics, not some destructive force upending and unsettling all it touched. They'd made machines of magic.

...all the different things you could figure out, make happen if you found out what made these tick... I wonder...

He stopped there, as he noticed Athan had gotten rather a bit ahead of him. And more than that, just what he'd gone and gotten up to.

It seemed their mysterious knight was here after all.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 28, 2009 11:54 am

Ruby would find that he was in the presence of essentially good people. The man in the cloak however felt as if he had a great weight placed on him. Strong yes, but a fellow who had seen and done too much.

"So it's time already." The knight spoke without looking or moving, "I hoped that I would have a little more time."

He tucked his book under the same arm he placed on the ground to push up. Slowly the cloaked figure had risen to his feet and stood there facing away from the party. Taking a few moments, his gauntlet rose up to his forehead and snapped his visor down into place. It was only then with his identity shielded that he turned to face the others.

"But fate waits for no man." From behind the metal grate Athan could feel him looking right into him, "You must be Athan, your line has gotten awfuly big over the years has it not."

At that moment someone poked out from inside the ship-like structure. He was sporting a full beard and scraggly hair, touches of gray in places. He was wearing work robes, but there was a hint of a familiar sort of armour underneath it. All and all he looked like an older gentleman, but didn't move in such a way. He was spry, and there was more than a little sparkle in his eye. Ruby would find that this fellow was good to his core, he wished only to help though there was an envy in him that he had buried deep deep down. Kael alone would feel his other reach out to tell him about a connection with this man.

"Company, eh?" He spoke moments before he popped onto deck, "Whole bunch of company. I guess this means I better start working faster."

"Yes, I am sorry." He turned to nod at the other man.

It was then the golem began to lumber over to the ship with little regard to Sliver what so ever. It would place the crates near the bearded fellow and then pry off the lids. If Silver had managed to stay on this entire time the golem would shrug, and attempt to lift Silver up by the proverbial scruff of his neck and put him down.

"This is Athan, and I beleive this other fellow is... He pointed right at Kael but stumbled for a moment, "Should I call you Kael or something else?"

The other fellow spoke right away though, "Really? Kael, goddamn. The real deal, or just someone who inherited the name?"

"I apologize that I do not know the rest of your names." He spoke sincerly, "Athan and Kael have been touched by the same force that drives me and animates our rocky friend. It has allowed me to know them in a way similar to how they know me. I trust that you are no less important even without."

But still a question hung in the air.

"I do not mean to monopolize the time, but I have reason to beleive that it will be short. I will do my best to tell you of this place."

"A long time ago there were those chosen by their planet to protect them. Amongst those there was one thought to be a weapon of necessity, a fellow who was tolerated by some and hated by others. When we found our way to this world once again he was judged on a perceived lust for power and not his intents. Perhaps he was a foolish imperial stubborn man, but what he did he did for the love of his people."

He paused.

"We did not know. Most of us at least what would happen from our actions. He did, perhaps another, and prepared for it. Evacuations, ships like the one behind me that provided shelter for hundreds of thousands. Relief on unheard of scale for a disaster on an unheard of scale. Enough power to get them far away from our collapsing world and into the great emptiness. Preserved forever, dreamless sleepers until someone found them."

"This place is his legacy, at least part of it." He turned to look at Rage, then Ruby, then Silver, "I once again apologize if that was unintelligible to you."

Somewhere on the fringes of the cavern, just out of the light there was a flash of red. Then another in a different place. Ruby would perhaps feel a tinge of something that was not necessarily evil but clearly malevolent.

Athan steeled himself for anything as the knight began to rise. He had come to this cave expecting danger, and with the exception of nearly being stepped on, there hadn't been any of that.

He was surprised that the mysterious man knew his name. Even more surprised that he knew of his lineage, and even more so that he wasn't hostile. Athan's surprise was marked by his complete silence concerning the matter, but at least his facial expression didn't detail his shock. He just simply gathered himself together enough for a single nod in response to the statement concerning his line.

The arrival of the old man sparked some interest, but just as soon as he looked at the newcomer his attention snapped right back to the knight. He was almost uncomfortably close to the man, but showed little intent in backing away for comfort's sake.

He let the knight speak, deliver his entire story before he even bothered to speak up again. Most of it was things he already 'knew' from the dreams, and for a split second Athan considered that this man was just as clueless as he and Kael were. The ships, however, were something Athan had never heard of or seen before.

"Dreamless sleepers."

He whispered, just barely audible above his own breath as his eyes shifted to look at his right arm. Was the arm crafted in remembrance of them, or was it just coincidence?

"You know way more about this mysterious force linking us than either Kael or myself. What is it? Are we supposed to the people to pick up where Moam left off?"

He was cut off in the middle of his interrogation by the single flash of red. His eyes suddenly left the knight to focus upon where he had seen the light. He tensed up, and whether it was intuition or just paranoia, he felt a knot developing in his stomach.
PostPosted: Mon May 11, 2009 9:57 pm

His hands slowed down in anticipation, seeing that he had little to worry about. And so, he concentrated on the story at hand. The names of at least two of the people came to his ears: Athan and Kael. He didn't know which fit who yet of the two the man was focusing on, but he would probably figure it out through observation. It was an interesting conversation, hearing of a man who seemed to possess unmovable power, but was too tied into his own confidence to use that power wisely. Then the tale of a ship came up, and he pretty much was confused. This had him look away, finding that this business wasn't much as his as it was the leader of this group.

He was about to put his music back on until his sight and sixth sense caught wind of a sudden intrusion. First, there were red lights. Then, that sense of something malicious in the air. He caught them several times, having him finally speak up to the group.

"Hey, guys. You guys invested in some red light decoration in here or am I missing something?"

He extended his left hand, ready to bring forth his power within in case this was something unexpected.

Between the apparently friendly golem, the old friends that seemed to have run into each other in this dark cave, and the nearly eccentric explanation that had been given just seconds before, Rage was about ready to go fashion a tinfoil hat and call it a day. Instead, the bundle of robes continued to pace around the cavern, not straying too far but seeming antsy about what to do next.

Honestly none of this made sense; the wanderer was just along for the ride, and it showed no signs of stopping. The words that were spoken hit ears that understood, but had the effect of reading the missing page from an epic novel - out of context, it really was unintelligible for Rage, who, despite this fact, thought it a good time to speak up - right around the time that strange red lights began to flash around the cavern.

"Tch."

What is this now? We came through this desert for some sort of insane rave party?
PostPosted: Fri May 22, 2009 10:23 pm

His guard should have dropped the moment the knight began to simply speak to them; it was friendly, even familiar. But while he forgot his weapons, his body instead tensed, his mind sped. After all, this said it without a doubt, and regardless of what his intentions were. This fellow, whatever his name or story, had known that they would be coming here.

He'd been waiting.

His lips tightened, turning in and letting his tongue wet them, skipping over the same defensive thoughts while the man addressed Athan, looking to make sense of it. The world he lived in often didn't make much sense, but that had never stopped him. They knew about him through dreams. And he knew about Athan- had he sent Athan the dreams? Or perhaps had ones of his own- an idea that he'd return to a moment later. But as he started to consider it first, a distinct distraction arose.

His head turned to the man as he popped out, full of youthful energy, as old as he seemed to be. He didn't look familiar, but for some reason, Kael's eye's stuck when they landed on him. He thought he saw the bronze armor under the robes, that he knew, and suddenly he realized what was ticking in the back of his head. It wasn't his mind. Rather, the one touching his own- a thought that made him suppress a shudder a moment, despite his greatest efforts to fully accept it- that was drawn to him.

Why? Who is he...?

There was no answer though. And he wasn't the only one. He wondered about the masked man. Who, as the fantastic force that was irony would have it, seemed to wonder about him in turn.

The question hit him like a jolt and he tensed, eyes tightening. Before he even had an answer, the older man was speaking as well- and as he finished Kael's eyes widened and his mind spun into a new kind of chaotic speed.

"No- not exactly, but it'll do," he managed, eyes flicking back and forth between him and the knight as he tried to figure out who the answer was more for, and their mysterious- apparent- benefactor drove right on. He tried to keep up, but his eyes kept slipping back, catching bits, forming parts of ideas. His mind turned to the general, sitting in his tent, as he spoke, and as he mentioned whatever their connecting force was. It confused him, scared him even, but he could tell it was important, and now, it all came as if in a rush.

Of all people though, it was Athan he caused him to visibly startle- not just a flinch of the face, but move.

"Sleepers-"

That made sense. He stepped forward next to the larger man, mind spinning back to the nights that had stirred him for so long, attempting to recount everything. To be sure. The words came to his head readily enough though, memorized by repetition, coming night after night with as much impact as the dream as a whole.

Joseph Brown
"-there're likely other's having dreams. If you can find some of the survivors and some of the dreamers-"

"-the others."

He'd never put much thought to it before. He'd flown solo. He should have known though, he should have though, realized there would be more, and after Athan knew of the knight as well, it should have come. But now he was certain. There were other people out there who were being given these things, how many he had no idea, maybe a handful, maybe thousands. And alone he might have been meant just to be a pawn, but together, there was no doubt an impact.

Fate. He hated it, just the name. But it seemed as if to stand before him and stare him down, jumping his pulse, setting fire to his eyes.

"I need to know how to find the other dreamers," it came out almost as much a compulsion as his own question, almost pleading for an answer- his only addition to Cole's small barrage. Something flashed, and the others reacted around him, but he drove it from his head.

This was too important to let go of, not yet. He needed more, just a few moments more, to grab those final pieces, to put it together, find his allies, the dreamers, the survivors. He couldn't feel the malevolence, didn't know the flash was more than a part of the construction, but something churned in the pit of his stomach.

And it was then that it came together in his head. Strange, it seemed, with the almost panicked sense of urgency for answers still in mind, just barely holding onto his composure enough to obscure it, to keep the desperate excitement from being too obvious. Slowly, almost, he added one more real question.

But not for the Knight.

His head turned to the side to the older man, flitting up past the clothing and narrowing as if searching the aged features. He could have been entirely mistaken, but if this really all was more than coincidences piled atop each other...

"...Thomas?"

Location: The Great Sand Dunes
We enter into this fateless man's life in the midst of scorching heat and dry searing winds...

"Damn... shoulda bought better s**t for this climate!"

Umbra, exclaiming the disatisfaction with his current attire(common outfit of jeans, t-shirt, boots), refers to the loose fitting clothes that a ninja in the desert would wear. His skin, that of one that lives in such heat, burns and tans after long years kept in the dark.

His endurance could carry him for a few days in this god-forsaken place; but those few days are almost up. And in the distance, the haze of the heat distorts the sight so much, that Umbra begins to see something that cannot be there. And yet, closer inspection does reveal some sort of.... Oasis.

Taking his time, 'lest he expire from the effort, he reaches this paradise in hell. As he steps up to the water, a structure off the side catches his attention - but only for a moment. A small wooden platform with a pole off to the side and another angling in from the top, with a hangman's noose dangling from it. Drinking from the cool water, Umbra is slightly amused by thoughts of people so far gone, they would choose the noose over the watery salvation just before them.

There are apparitions called Black Judges that appear in areas where criminals that were once banished gather. They say that they will give an opportunity to clean away sins and request that you take care of some ugly monsters called Sin Eaters. (Black Judge in the southern part of Barthavos).

No, it is simply not correct!

A voice said, it echoed as if resounding down a long hall from very far away, and yet it carried enough volume to be heard as normal speech would. The voice came a from a figure, standing below the seemingly misplaced noose. And he was "standing", despite having no actual feet, only because he was not levitating any higher or hovering.

To anyone with the training necessary, this figure was most definitely an apparition. It wore a long black robe, which flowed down and simply faded into nothing before touching the ground. The figure held a large black leather bound book in one hand, and a dark wooden gavel in the other. The gavel was being used as a pointer as the figure read the pages of the book.

He was a gaunt man with white hair, sporting a pair of antique glasses, and looking as if someone had sucked his face dry sort of like a human prune. But most noticeable out of all these features was the fact that the man was entirely see through. As transparent as curtain, especially in the direct light.

Murder, without reason or regard. That one was not supposed to go up!

He said, frustration all over his ethereal tone. He was talking, though not directly toward anyone and seemed more focused on his book than his surroundings. Could this be a Black Judge?
